When I would see Gong Show reruns I never knew what she was famous for or why she was there.

She was on a couple of game shows for a few years, then disappeared.

She had nice titays

I used to get her confused with singer Jane Morgan, who's also still with us and is 97 years old. Jane Morgan had a marginally more successful career as a singer and was a replacement Mame on Broadway. She never had to flash her titays to get attention.

Did anyone have her records?

I remember Jaye P. getting bleeped on The Gong Show on more than one occasion.

Jaye did "Sugar Babies" with Eddie Bracken at the Palace in Cincinnati and no boobs were flashed.

Strong start to her singing career in the 1950s and then it peters out. She had some laughs along the way. Nice work if you can get it.

The Gong Show, the most bizarre half hour on 70s TV (and that is saying a lot) was the first and last place I’d heard of this woman.

The anti-talent shows of the more recent decades.

Her quip, "You know, that's the way I started" in this clip made me love her.

I didn't know much about her other than her Gong Show stuff....but she did a record in 1975 with then-new producer David Foster and it was re-issued a few years ago to a lot of critical acclaim.

Lots of then-contemporary sounds, and a cover of "Can't Hide Love" done before Earth Wind and Fire's version.

Closet Man, where she croons acceptance to a gay man in the closet, from that album is a classic.

I always liked her and prefer her recording of "A Song for You" even to Leon Russell's.

Dusty covered Closet Man and I guess the producer stole shamelessly from Jaye P's version.

Dusty's is a bit less of a sort of "tropical" sound and a bit more straight (no pun intended) disco, but otherwise it's very similar.

Everyone who talks about how terrible current culture is needs to watch some Gong Show clips.

I was a youngster when I watched the Gong Show back in the 1970's, I did not think she was attractive. Now I look at her pics, and I do think she is pretty. She was wild on the Gong Show.

The 70s album is a treasure, one of David Foster's first big projects. His career took off, but this album went nowhere. Her voice was perfect for that music. I wish she would have had a real comeback. She reinvented herself for the era.
