And if so, where are my reparations?
Was the Great Irish Potato Famine Genocide?

It was part of attempted genocide committed by the British but our ancestors survived and prospered. It’s the reason most Irish immigrants came to North America.

There were British pols who tried to help. The PM Robert Peel was finally able to got some legislation passed to help but it cost him his career.
Queen Victoria besides donating from her personal money was patron of fundraising for relief.

I believe between death and emigration Ireland lost a third of its population. Sounds like a pretty good attempt at genocide to me.

The Brits again exporting all the food so innocents died, what else have they ever done?

Britain repeated the genocide during World War 2 by exporting grain from Bengal in India to feed the UK while 3 million Indians died of starvation. Churchill was a genocidal maniac.

Genocide requires intent. British policies may cause mass death from time to time, but it’s from a lack of concern and not from a desire to exterminate a race of people.

Constantly bringing up the Potato Famine is an Irish attempt at perpetual victimhood (practiced by Blacks in the US). The fact remains that with the Potato Famine and the resulting immigration, the Irish received their first taste of widespread success and prosperity in other countries. This success is what funded Irish independence from Great Britain and their continued robust tourist trade from nostalgic descendants of those immigrants. In many ways, the Potato Famine was the best thing to happen to Ireland .
