"Another hit," OP?

As much as I like Paul Rudd, I can't stand Will Ferrell.

I have experience with therapists. Most of them are out of their minds.

I don't believe it's mentally healthy to be around crazy people for all of your career. At least you must have one hell of hobby to counteract all that toxic mental poison poisoning your brain.

r4 Most therapists arent around crazy people all the time. The more time rolls on, the more therapy is used by anyone who benefits from having 1 hour per week to focus on discussing their lives, career, and relationships. Many people dump this stuff off on friends or keep it to themselves. Friends aren't trained how to spot unhealthy patterns, suggest boundaries, or strategies for dealing with the craziest people in our lives.
For example, I know a young woman whose parents both have undiagnosed personality disorders. Luckily, she's even tempered and has mostly healthy relationships, including a strong marriage and she's a good mother. But she could use therapy just to learn how to deal with her parents and it would probably help her marriage as well because she grew up around extreme behaviors and thought it was normal and the relationship with those parents continues to cause stress to her, her husband, and sometimes their young kids.

Is this what kept Paul Rudd away from Halloween Kills? If so, lucky him.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 16, 2021 1:37 PM |
Are they blind? Love the blind show on Apple.

I've always thought that a very large number of people who become interested in psychology and become therapists do so in order to deal with their own issues.
It's not so much the poison of patients seeping through so much as it is their own crazy coming out as their work allows them to justify themselves with "at least I'm not as nutty as patient x."

Isn't this basically the Brian Wilson story?
by Anonymous | reply 11 | November 8, 2021 11:23 PM |
I doubt that was the first, R11.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | November 9, 2021 7:06 AM |
Will Ferrell is talent free and his presence will insure it bombs.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | November 9, 2021 7:16 AM |
Will Ferrell has his moments, R13, and he looks good in this.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | November 9, 2021 1:06 PM |
Agreed, R14. I have a soft spot for “Elf”.
And I really liked “Ted Lasso”. It was a fun show, and there’s some cute guys featured.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | November 9, 2021 5:23 PM |
I loved Ted Lasso and Mythic Quest, and just started The Morning Show, which I really like. So maybe OP isn’t far off.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | November 9, 2021 5:29 PM |
Apple has a lot of misses, but the hits are great. Ted, Dickenson, The Morning Show (not great, but really entertaining), the Cecily Strong musical.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | November 9, 2021 6:38 PM |
What are the misses, R17?

I tried watching the Joseph Gordon Levitt show and couldn't get through more than 2 episodes. There's a great, shocking moment where he says something nasty to a hookup when they argue after he can't get an erection. But other than that, its kinda dull.
If anyone has seen it, what is the fun stuff about this show? Does he have a lot of sex or get naked a lot?
by Anonymous | reply 19 | November 10, 2021 9:32 PM |
Watching the first episode now. So far I like it.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | November 17, 2021 9:38 PM |
Pity Rudd has never shown his sexy bits
by Anonymous | reply 21 | November 17, 2021 9:42 PM |
I've watched the first ep so far... and it's not grabbing me.
It was a creative decision, obviously, but why does everyone look so hideous in the 80s styles? Rudd, Ferrell, and Hahn didn't have to look THAT bad.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | November 17, 2021 9:59 PM |
This show sounds like an inverse WHAT ABOUT BOB?
by Anonymous | reply 23 | November 17, 2021 10:29 PM |
I was interested at first, but they lost me by the end of the (short) episode. I’m going to cancel my Apple+ once The Morning Show trainwreck ends.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | November 17, 2021 10:50 PM |
The fuck, they make you wait between episodes?
by Anonymous | reply 25 | November 18, 2021 12:38 AM |
I hate Will Ferrell. He's not funny in the least. Hard Pass.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | November 18, 2021 12:40 AM |
I think he’s funny and charming in this, R26.
Just watched the new episode and it’s certainly holding my interest.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | November 20, 2021 12:17 AM |
what era is it supposed to be set in?
by Anonymous | reply 28 | November 20, 2021 12:23 AM |
[quote]Will Ferrell has his moments, [R13], and he looks good in this.
What do you mean "looks good"?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | November 20, 2021 12:26 AM |
As in his role, R29. It fits him. He’s playing it well.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | November 20, 2021 1:43 PM |
THEN you should have said looks right not looks good.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | November 20, 2021 1:44 PM |
R31, have some coffee and relax. Life is too short to be so persnickety over something so inane.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | November 20, 2021 1:46 PM |
[quote]have some coffee and relax.
Coffee makes me jittery. Bad advice.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | November 20, 2021 1:56 PM |
R33, ok, bourbon it is.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | November 20, 2021 2:04 PM |
^ ah, a bourbon man
by Anonymous | reply 35 | November 20, 2021 2:06 PM |
Will Farrell gets on my nerves but the clip seems to show him playing the character and not the balcony.
Farrell seems to fancy himself the Chevy Chase of his generation and as much as "Vacation" is brilliant, that is not a role model I respect.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | November 20, 2021 2:07 PM |
R35, bourbon cures all ills.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | November 20, 2021 2:19 PM |
Bourbon with eggnog if you’re feeling festive.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | November 20, 2021 3:45 PM |
This show is so joyless.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | November 28, 2021 12:41 AM |
New episode is up!
by Anonymous | reply 40 | December 3, 2021 9:13 PM |
Kathryn Hahn is all like "I'm playing Jewish in this. FUCK YOU Sarah Silverman! I bet you wish YOU could get a series! Cunt!"
by Anonymous | reply 41 | December 3, 2021 9:33 PM |
Kathryn Hahn is Jewish, isn't she? She played a rabbi on Transparent.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | December 4, 2021 12:25 AM |
She's not Jewish. There was a big stink recently where Sarah Silverman said Hahn shouldn't be cast (casted!) as Joan Rivers in a series based on her life. Most people assumed it was a case of sour grapes as Sliverman can't get arrested in Hollywood anymore and wanted the part herself.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | December 4, 2021 2:01 AM |
The ending of the latest episode was so fucked up.
I’ll say one thing, this show sure keeps me watching. It takes a lot to make me wait a week between episodes these days, but here I am looking forward to the next episode.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | December 4, 2021 6:53 AM |
After watching the season (series?) finale, I’m shocked at how much I enjoyed the show. It takes a lot to hold my interest yet I looked forward to every episode. It was very well done.

Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd were tremendous in their performances.
