I did a search and couldn't find one, sorry if this is a duplicate.
Courtney Cox's face is scarier than the killer's mask.

Neve looks great, tho.
Something to be said for aging semi-naturally.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | October 12, 2021 3:28 PM |
Love it! Cannot wait!
Kind of don’t like they show a lot of death scenes in the trailer though!
by Anonymous | reply 3 | October 12, 2021 3:38 PM |
They rebooted this series two times already. Hopefully this time it will be successful.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | October 12, 2021 3:42 PM |
Neve's face looked freshly pinched back in Scream 4, seems to have settled.
by Anonymous | reply 5 | October 12, 2021 3:53 PM |
Looks like it might be more serious than the previous ones. I bet Dewey is going to die. Maybe Gale, too.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | October 12, 2021 4:41 PM |
I wonder why they opted for a January release? I suppose that date puts it closest to its 25th anniversary, but not in December like the original.
by Anonymous | reply 7 | October 12, 2021 5:05 PM |
[quote]Looks like it might be more serious than the previous ones. I bet Dewey is going to die. Maybe Gale, too.
I always figured that one or both would have died in Part 3 had Neve's schedule not basically forced them to make the two of them the main characters.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | October 12, 2021 5:13 PM |
There are spoilers on reddit.
Scream and Halloween are both trying to pass the baton to the younger generation. Time will tell if they are successful. It'll be hard to beat Laurie Strode and Sydney Prescott.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | October 12, 2021 5:45 PM |
Everyone involved with this movie raped me.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | October 12, 2021 5:53 PM |
Of course they start the trailer with a non-white bitch. Where's her interracial boyfriend? Fuck this shit.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | October 12, 2021 6:17 PM |
Looks a lot heavier than any of the others. Not sure I liked the trailer.
by Anonymous | reply 12 | October 12, 2021 6:23 PM |
R12 Yeah, it seems to have lost the tongue-in-cheek humor and the pokes at the horror genre.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | October 12, 2021 6:55 PM |
Other than the three regulars, there’s nobody famous in the cast.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | October 12, 2021 7:00 PM |
Dylan Minette would like a word.
by Anonymous | reply 15 | October 12, 2021 8:05 PM |
I understand why they decided to go heavier this time. Funny and scary is a very difficult balance to sustain, and even the original films did not always manage. But that trailer reveals far too much.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | October 12, 2021 9:09 PM |
Devoid of comedic elements, save for Dylan's hair.
by Anonymous | reply 17 | October 12, 2021 9:28 PM |
I thought Dylan’s blond hair was kind of working for him, in the flashes I saw of him at least. Otherwise, I think the trailer showed way too much.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | October 12, 2021 10:33 PM |
I can't wait!

I knew a lesbian who used to date Neve about 20 years ago.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | October 12, 2021 10:48 PM |
Then she died?
by Anonymous | reply 21 | October 12, 2021 11:03 PM |
Unremarkable, charisma-free 20somethings it seems. But I'll still watch it.
by Anonymous | reply 22 | October 12, 2021 11:05 PM |
It's impossible to replace Sidney, Gale, and Dewey. They're like the Luke, Leia, and Han of horror movies.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | October 12, 2021 11:13 PM |
Wow. Jack Quaid is in it, too? The Boys, voice over work for Star Trek: Lower Decks and some Batman animation feature. Dude's busy.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | October 12, 2021 11:17 PM |
The original Scream started with a bang (Drew Barrymore). This reboot? Not so much (Who is that at the beginning?).
by Anonymous | reply 25 | October 12, 2021 11:19 PM |
I would actually like to see a reboot of Scream with Meghan Markle in the Drew Barrymore role.
by Anonymous | reply 26 | October 12, 2021 11:21 PM |
I loved the first half of the trailer and seeing Neve again. But they revealed too much. The locking/unlocking of the doors was creepy but why reveal it?
And they should have built up Neve's return until the end.
Courtney's face looks better than it did in 4. Arquette's gotten old but it might suit the character and everything he's been through.
by Anonymous | reply 27 | October 13, 2021 4:32 AM |
R28 I mean, we know Neve will return…
by Anonymous | reply 28 | October 13, 2021 4:43 AM |
Neve Campbell is thinking about her retirement fund. She'll be in Scream 10 with a rascal scooter if they make it.
by Anonymous | reply 29 | October 13, 2021 5:04 AM |
They should have left the og cast out of it. Seems like a more serious take which means Kevin's probably not involved.
by Anonymous | reply 30 | October 13, 2021 8:15 AM |
Talk about beating a dead horse. There is NOTHING fresh about this. Although I will say, thank GOD, they're not making meta references to horror movies. That would be STALE as f.

Based on the trailer, who do you think the killer(s) is?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | October 17, 2021 7:26 PM |
Scream 4 wasn't bad. I enjoyed the ending.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | October 17, 2021 7:29 PM |
Emma was so fucking obnoxious in Scream 4. Her rant to Sydney at the end was pure cringe.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | October 17, 2021 7:39 PM |
Emma is annoying and that's why I enjoyed the ending. Also the social media aspect was prophetic. Not a perfect movie but better than expected.
by Anonymous | reply 35 | October 17, 2021 8:05 PM |
I was hoping at the end of Scream 4 that Emma's character (even though I HATED her in this movie) would get away with it and the sequel would have been about copycat killers going after her character. It would have been a subversive spin but, nope, we got that bullshit 'tagged on' ending where Gale and Sydney both survive. Also, Hayden Panittiere (msp?) was terrific in 4 and should have been saved for the reboot.
From what I understand, you can't trust this trailer. They shot a lot of extra footage to throw people off and there are multiple endings.
by Anonymous | reply 36 | October 17, 2021 8:06 PM |
Yes, I liked Kirby too. But it doesn't look like Hayden is in any shape to be doing a movie.
by Anonymous | reply 37 | October 17, 2021 10:42 PM |
Looks boring as fuck. It’s the same shit 5 times in a row.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | October 17, 2021 10:54 PM |
They already had a tv show of this shit. There’s nowhere else they can go with it. The fourth movie was more than enough.
by Anonymous | reply 39 | October 17, 2021 10:56 PM |
They should've never killed off Parker Posey. She was hilarious.
by Anonymous | reply 40 | October 18, 2021 3:02 AM |
Jennifer Jolie was the best thing about Scream 3. Her banter with Gale was great.
by Anonymous | reply 41 | October 18, 2021 5:57 AM |
I read some spoilers on reddit and the ghostface killer/killers = lame. I think people will be disappointed with this movie.
I'm convinced that certain actors/actresses have it in their contract that they won't return for these movies unless they survive. One or two of the Big Three need to fucking die.
by Anonymous | reply 42 | October 18, 2021 5:46 PM |
I think for the movie the killer isn’t supposed to be the big surprise, it’s how/she goes out.
by Anonymous | reply 43 | October 18, 2021 7:13 PM |
Wow neve actually looks really sexy. I never thought that about her younger roles. This movie looks fucking terrible though. It looks like it has that awful Netflix quality sterile aesthetic. That little girl at the beginning is from the second season of You and is a terrible actress. Courtney looks hilarious, I feel bad for her. Neve should get a lead role in a new horror film.
by Anonymous | reply 44 | October 18, 2021 7:21 PM |
"I'm Sydney Prescott, of course I have a gun."
ICONIC!!!!!
by Anonymous | reply 45 | October 18, 2021 7:22 PM |
I don't attend to Neve Campbell movies if Dermot Mulroney's big swinging dick is not present.
by Anonymous | reply 46 | October 18, 2021 7:23 PM |
I think this looks better than Scream 4. Scream 4 was just OK in my opinion, but it really had nothing new to say except for the ending which I absolutely loved.
I agree that Neve looks terrific. Arquette still fuckable IMO.
by Anonymous | reply 47 | October 18, 2021 7:24 PM |
Courtney Cox is in talks to play Daisy Duck.
by Anonymous | reply 48 | October 19, 2021 12:12 AM |
Scream 4 was okay except that the killers were puny little shits. Jill apparently killed most of the victims. Are we supposed to believe that those two scrawny nothings were hauling bodies off of the roof, etc? Stu and Billy looked like guys who lifted weights in the garage after school. It was believable.
by Anonymous | reply 49 | October 19, 2021 12:21 AM |
Ok Scream 4 was supposed to reboot the franchise and pass the torch onto the younger crowd, but Cox/Arquette refused to die and Campbell was willing but they didn’t want Sidney dead yet.
It then flopped at the box office so that killed all steam.
Then they tried with a tv show. Didn’t work.
Let’s see if this time it works.

I think it's either Dylan Minette, Jack Quaid, or both. Since they both play, or played, such goody two shoes guys in their shows (Dylan in 13 Reasons Why and Jack in The Boys and Star Trek: Lower Decks).

Basic math answers this stupid question. He’s 33 in 2021. A young guy.
Scream was in 1996
Scream 2 was in 1997
Scream 3 was in 2000.
Scream 4 was in 2011.
Now you tell me which he was in…

Interesting that it was 11 years between Scream 3 and Scream 4, and it will be 11 years between Scream 4 and this new Scream.
I just don't know if this is going to bring in Halloween 2018 or Halloween Kills numbers. Scream 4 didn't do as well as expected and there wasn't a great deal of buzz around it.

Scream 4- $38 million

Why did S4 underperform? I remember buzz.
by Anonymous | reply 76 | October 19, 2021 2:00 AM |
It was media created buzz. The public found it mostly an unnecessary sequel. No one seemed excited about it. I saw it opening weekend and there were 5 other people in the theater with me.
by Anonymous | reply 77 | October 19, 2021 2:03 AM |
R77 same. When I saw it, it was me, my date, and a group of ghetto people hooting and hollering, which would normally annoy me but it’s appropriate for Scream.
by Anonymous | reply 78 | October 19, 2021 2:05 AM |
I think the timing wasn’t right for Scream 4. 90s nostalgia hadn’t really kicked in big time yet then. I think/hope this one will do better.
by Anonymous | reply 79 | October 19, 2021 2:06 AM |
Wasn't Emma Stone always teetering on "straight-to-bargain bin"? Surely her casting showed that the public wouldn't come.

*Roberts
by Anonymous | reply 81 | October 19, 2021 2:07 AM |
Roberts was very young and new still then.
They made a whole new young cast to pass the torch to but it flopped.
They also killed off most of the young cast.
by Anonymous | reply 82 | October 19, 2021 2:10 AM |
Why does the Killer sound different? He sounds more sinister and not playful.
by Anonymous | reply 83 | October 19, 2021 2:15 AM |
The original was also a surprise sleeper hit.
People forget that the slasher genre was dead by the time Scream came, and the movie debuted with only $6 million at the BO. Word of mouth made it slowly grow and it ended up being a hit and cultural phenomenon.
I remember everyone was speaking about the opening scene, which seemed to terrify and/or shock people. My mother included. She thought she would hate the movie but took us to see it (we loved horror) and the opening shocked her. She couldn’t stop speaking about that after to my stepfather and her friend on the phone.
She didn’t care for the rest of it as much.
by Anonymous | reply 84 | October 19, 2021 2:17 AM |

by Anonymous | reply 85 | October 19, 2021 2:23 AM |

I think Scream 2 is a strong sequel.
by Anonymous | reply 86 | October 19, 2021 2:23 AM |
Drew was iconic.
by Anonymous | reply 87 | October 19, 2021 2:27 AM |
It initially had good buzz but it seemed to have bad word of mouth despite being a decent movie. I heard people say they didn’t like the opening or ending. They were happy the trio survived, but everything else was blah. I agree there.
by Anonymous | reply 88 | October 19, 2021 2:33 AM |
IMO Scream doesn't get the buzz/numbers that Halloween does because Scream is the same damn movie every time. Halloween has had some variation with Jamie Lee Curtis dropping out of the franchise for a period of years, long enough for people to miss her, and then creating some new stuff. First she was Mother Laurie, and now she's Granny Laurie. Jamie Lloyd was a good main character for a couple of movies, too. Sidney Prescott hasn't aged, doesn't appear to be traumatized, etc. Maybe she's an android?
Neve Campbell has survived all four Scream movies and I'm sure she'll survive this one, too. We already know it, and we know that she'll be back for more because NC has to build her retirement fund. Zzzzzzzz. Killing off Dewey or Gale won't necessarily add to or detract from the franchise. What will they call subsequent films, if there are any? Scream Again? Still Screaming? NC was on Party of Five and was already something of a name when she made the first movie. I don't see any of the younger characters being able to carry the franchise like that.
Scream 2 was a good sequel and one that mostly made sense (Billy's mom wanted revenge and hired someone to help her). Scream 3 and 4 were unnecessary. They should have stopped after 2 and then waited until they had a solid idea to go forward. But people wanted to make some fast, easy money...
by Anonymous | reply 89 | October 19, 2021 2:36 AM |
Yes, the Drew scene was iconic and considered one of the greatest horror scenes in a slasher film by many horror filmmakers/screen writers etc.
I know there was a luncheon with tons of the screenwriters and directors etc. who’ve done horror films a few years ago, and there was a vote of what is the greatest direct sequel to a horror film (meaning the second film, not a third etc.) and they voted Psycho 2, to many’s surprise. That one won. But Scream 2 was one of the other most voted.
by Anonymous | reply 90 | October 19, 2021 2:36 AM |
Idk why people always compare this and Halloween. Halloween originated the genre and came out 18 years before Scream.
Scream revived the genre and changed it, but Halloween is the main bitch here.
by Anonymous | reply 91 | October 19, 2021 2:39 AM |
Sidney's family & close friends:
-Murdered (mom, aunt, two best friends, college boyfriend, incel movie buff friend)
-Unceremoniously dead off-screen (dad)
-Murderer who tried to kill her and killed many friends/loved ones in the process (cousin, half-brother)
How is this character not in a psych ward or on pills to cope with the pain? It's always been odd.
by Anonymous | reply 92 | October 19, 2021 2:42 AM |
Maybe she’s a sociopath
by Anonymous | reply 93 | October 19, 2021 2:44 AM |
Laurie Strode was an alcoholic in Halloween H20 and then in the loony bin in Halloween Resurrection. She's clearly off her rocker in these new movies, too. Much more realistic than never-flummoxed Sidney Prescott. Oh wait, she had some bad dreams in Scream 3.
by Anonymous | reply 94 | October 19, 2021 2:47 AM |
She also was a paranoid person and always anxious
by Anonymous | reply 95 | October 19, 2021 2:49 AM |
Well, Laurie has to deal with a man who just keeps going back from the dead. Must be exhausting.
At least Sidney gets to deal with a new killer each time. Girlfriend has to keep it together.
by Anonymous | reply 96 | October 19, 2021 2:50 AM |
I actually thought the preview looks good. The comedy and humor was fun with Scream, but I like that they are taking it in a darker direction for the reboot. Darker times. Never actually looks great. Whatever she had done looks natural. Courtney Cock doesn't look so bad either. Dave Arquette, who I love both personally and professionally, looks rough. He's had some hard years.
by Anonymous | reply 97 | October 19, 2021 2:56 AM |
So, do the spoilers say the trio lives?
Scream was always meant to be fun. 2,3 & 4 were fun. 4 should have had a better opening waiting so long. That was why it didn’t get better word of mouth. You wait that long for a sequel it better have a great opening and better killer. Also, it came out in April which was stupid. An Oct release would have made it more money.
by Anonymous | reply 98 | October 19, 2021 2:58 AM |

Courtney Cox does look decent in this. She looked pretty gorgeous in S4. That was when she was doing Cougar Town and damn she had perfect filler/Botox during the last few years of its run. She looked stunning.

by Anonymous | reply 118 | October 19, 2021 4:20 AM |
Looking back Scream 3 is a bit of a strange film. It's all over the place. Miramax/the Weinsteins interfered a lot. Neve could only film on certain days so she wasn't in the film for certain portions. Apparently Miramax wanted more humour which would explain Parker Posey (thank God, though, since she was very funny).
For a director as respected as Wes Craven was, he had to deal with a lot of problems from studios trying to reshape his films.
by Anonymous | reply 119 | October 19, 2021 4:21 AM |

Is this suppose to make up for the Scream 4? The stupid ass one with Emma Roberts.
by Anonymous | reply 128 | October 19, 2021 6:43 AM |
R127 I don’t really think that one is any better. At least in the cinematic release we got Anna Paquin and Kristen Bell, as random and tacked on as it was.
by Anonymous | reply 129 | October 19, 2021 6:47 AM |
R127 It was an improvement, but still needed more tension.

I don’t think they used Gale Weathers as effectively as they could have. She’s so bitchy funny, yet with a heart.

Reddit tells me that Judy Hicks and her son Wes are the ghostface killers this time around.

I like that Scream doesn’t kill off the 3 amigos. It doesn’t appear any of them are in this one for long. Keep them alive and allow them to pass the baton.

Someone above mentioned "charisma-free", and I have to agree. So many younger actors now are indistinguishable from each other too. In these movies of this type we grew up with, Neve Campbell, Sarah Michelle Geller, Skeet Ulrich, etc. etc. etc. they all had something distinguishable about them. They weren't even all good actors (ahem, Freddie Prinze Jr), but you wouldn't sit there going: "Which one is that again?"
by Anonymous | reply 139 | December 5, 2021 12:08 AM |
I've got bad vibes over this latest installment. It doesn't have that Wes Craven feel to it, he's sorely missed.

I just watched Scream 2 tonight for the first time since I first saw it in 1999. It was very enjoyable, more than I was expecting. Lots of big names in it and was very funny, I laughed a lot. Also had some very good setpieces. The opening of this one was really good, and it must've been hard to do when up against the classic of the first film.
Also just watching it I thought: "this is a fun horror movie". I appreciated that very much, you don't seem to see a lot of fun ones these days.

Speaking of Scream 2, what references did it have in it to older films. I thought there was a reference to Final Exam, the Slumber Party Massacre, and [italic]maybe[/italic]Pieces. Oh, and the first Friday the 13th too. But I'm not as well versed in the history.

You certainly wouldn't with Matthew.

That's why these remakes like Black Christmas, The Craft, Charmed, etc. I just don't care about these characters or performers because they have no charisma, no personality and the films/shows look like they have no creativity or vision behind them. The films look drab and dull. They don't have a Wes Craven or Bob Clark to guide them and provide visual flairs and direct the actors to stand out.

by Anonymous | reply 145 | December 5, 2021 8:59 PM |
The Charmed remake has been an absolute disaster and of course they lost one of their lead's after 3 seasons. The Craft sequel was just stupid. What was the point of having a trans character? Or making one of the guys bi and then killing him off 🙄
by Anonymous | reply 146 | December 6, 2021 8:43 AM |
When I watched Scream 2 the other night, I noticed how even just random scenes like Dewey and Gail talking as they met up again were fun and entertaining, like you could see how much everyone was just enjoying making the film. It's hard to say why exactly, but it's that quality I find missing in a lot of film.

These hybrid sequel-reboot movies please no one. Either continue the story with Neve and Courtney and some new folks (sequel) or do it all over again with new people (reboot) but when you try to please both old and young audiences (Ghostbusters, Star Wars) everyone complains.

It's like the new L Word, where no one I know is interested in the new cast, we just turn in to see Bette, Shane and Alice.
by Anonymous | reply 152 | December 6, 2021 6:02 PM |
Agree they’ll never find actors who connect and are as memorable as Neve, Courteney, David….That’s why I think it is a shame to kill any of them off.
by Anonymous | reply 153 | December 6, 2021 9:38 PM |
r153, I think the problem with that is the budget: Neve, Courtney, and David earn a lot of money and even get a cut from the profits, that means there's not much money left to get some up and coming cast with established name recognition. So the producers roll the dice and hope for the best, casting no-names who might give such great performances that the viewers like them and turn them into stars.
Also, an audience is less likely to connect with newbies when the old are still around and get all the good scenes while the new ones are bland, glorified extras.

[Quote] casting no-names who might give such great performances that the viewers like them and turn them into stars.
I don't think that happened for any of the Scream 4 cast.
by Anonymous | reply 155 | December 7, 2021 10:04 AM |
Scream 4 should have worked. The casting was good. I’m not sure why it didn’t. I think they gave Gale, shockingly, the weakest part. She’s a franchise favorite. She had a few good scenes and that was it. I think it had a few too many stupid kills. I still find it enjoyable.
by Anonymous | reply 156 | December 7, 2021 10:42 AM |
Screenwriter Kevin Williamson just chimed in recently stating that he feels the Scream series definitely have gay undertones to them.
A second trailer has also recently been "leaked" or prematurely aired on Youtube. A few people caught it and recorded it then shared it on there. In it, we're shown someone wearing a metallic version of the classic Ghostface mask as well - not sure what that's supposed to mean, other than perhaps there will be multiple Ghostface's in this one as well.

Because of Billy and Stu?

Emma was terrible. The only one i really liked was Kirby. Oh and Alison Brie as Sidney's agent was good too.
by Anonymous | reply 159 | December 7, 2021 11:00 AM |
R159. But she wasn’t a bad choice and there were others who were good choices. Kirby and Alison are two huge examples. I think the kills were just boring and bad. Nobody wants to see the 3 AMIGOS die. But they’ll kill one of all. Stupid.

4 has its bright spots and the killer's motive seems more relevant now than it was a decade ago. It's just that it felt unnecessary and never really very suspenseful, scary, or all that funny.

Ghostface is Bugs Bunny, trying to kill Sydney to rip out her veneers and put them back in his mouth.

Part of the fun of these movies is going in blind, not knowing who lives, who dies, and who the killer (or killers) might be.
by Anonymous | reply 172 | January 13, 2022 4:53 PM |
Those spoilers appear to be correct, if going by twitter. The motive for the killings is L-A-M-E.

How am I the first queen to see this?
Yes, it’s not great. Scenes with the lead actress just die on screen. She has no presence. Neve Campbell was never a great actress but she had a vulnerability and strangeness that made her compelling to watch. Say what you will about the Weinsteins, they never would’ve let this movie get to release with a central star that shitty.
The supporting cast is hit or miss. Jack Quaid is great, as is Jasmin Savoy Brown who plays Taissa on Yellowjackets. There’s a character named Liv who is the most overbearing character since Tina in Halloween 5. The less said about Mikey Madison the better.
The trio are barely in this and clearly don’t have their heart in it. It’s a paycheck job through and through.
The direction is actually pretty good. The opening and the finale are well executed. The kills are intense and creative. That’s where the benefit of a fresh set of eyes comes in…but it ends there. They lack the experience and craft of even the shittiest Wes Craven movie.
The screenplay has some good jokes but the plotting and the characters and the serious dialogue is just awful and nowhere in the league of the other films. The motive is very generic too. (MINOR SPOILERS AHEAD) There are two killers as usual. One is pretty solid and somewhat saves the movie — I’d rank them above Mickey and Charlie — but the other turns in an awful, amateurish performance post reveal that is totally out of character from these films and I’d rank them dead last after Charlie in terms of Ghostfaces (END SPOILERS)
Dylan Minnette has an extended shower scene that provides more male eye candy than the series has ever shown so I’m sure all you fairies will love that.
All in all, you might enjoy it if you’re new to the series but if you’re a long term fan, the drop in quality is noticeable.

[quote]There’s a character named Liv who is the most overbearing character since Tina in Halloween 5.
This already makes me apprehensive. I saw Halloween 5 for the first time only a few weeks ago and I was [italic]aching[/italic] for Tina to die, she was so fucking annoying ("Tina" is also a REALLY annoying name to have other characters scream over and over again).

Ha! That's so true.
by Anonymous | reply 177 | January 15, 2022 11:33 AM |
R176, I wouldn’t make or break your decision to see it based on her. The characterization is very slim this time around. She doesn’t dominate the edit. But when she is around, she’s very obnoxious.
I read on Wikipedia that this is her first role and her father is a European film investor so her casting makes more sense now.
by Anonymous | reply 178 | January 16, 2022 2:17 AM |
I am satisfied that *spoiler* with the two of that trio survive.
by Anonymous | reply 179 | January 16, 2022 6:31 AM |
Just watched it and it was good enough. I am only a casual viewer, so the big surprise death of a legacy character didn't really shock me that much.
Love the gender swap shower scene with Dylan M.
