Have the people who criticized it actually watched it? I didn't think it was particularly funny, but that last 15 minutes or so when he talked about his friend Daphne? He did a hell of a lot more for her and for her daughter than the trans community ever did. They are the ones who dragged her relentlessly to suicide, that's not on Chapelle.

Most companies have code of conduct policies that prevent employees from publicly complaining their employer, so this isn't at all surprising.

Terra Field’s thread is emotional manipulation at bits worst. Field fails to mention that many of them were in high risk situations and areas (prostitution, high crime areas were drug related murders aren’t uncommon) and domestic partner murders.

If there’s a serious “epidemic”’of trans people being murdered for being trans (and there isn’t), it’s important to provide all the details so that law enforcement, perhaps at the federal level, can decide what to do.

But there isn’t a rash of hate crimes, resulting in homicide, perpetrated against trans people. The actual stories are more complicated, vary from case to case, and the circumstances are almost never any different from murders of anyone else.

Misrepresenting the circumstances of murders in no way helps the cause. It doesn’t help legislators or law enforcement. It might help activists raise money, of course. And it certainly helps people chasing online clout.
