Dumb observation BUT
I was watching a show set in a UK high school and they had a "head man", whatever that is, wearing a letterman jacket with "Dolphins" under the school name. For some reason I thought this was a peculiarly American thing for the jocks and for schools to have mascots.

Were you watching “Sex Education “? That show “Americanizes” the British high-school experience.

R1 you got it..but why would they "americanize" that show?

R3, apparently the show’s creator was inspired by John Hughes movies. Which also explains why the characters tend to have 80s-ish hair and clothes, and why no one drives a car made after 1990. The smartphones are just about the only concessions to modernity.

Yes...the question still remains. What the hell is a "head boy" in the UK?

Always love British shows and movies where the students address the teacher as "Miss".

What is it that you have to do to 'get a letter' in an American high school? Asking about a former friend.
