Yes, they should.

Didn't the atmosphere have a higher oxygen content back then, or was that only in the dinosaurs' time?

by Anonymousreply 2September 21, 2021 8:52 PM

JFC! How about we bring back Leonardo da Vinci, Einstein, George Washington, etc? We don't need an XXL furry elephant roaming around.

by Anonymousreply 3September 21, 2021 8:57 PM

Stay away from the mean dinos.

[quote] is pioneering a plan to ensure the long-extinct woolly mammoth will once again trudge through the Arctic tundra.

What Artic tundra? The one that can't even support polar bears anymore? That Artic tundra?

Novel idea: Use those big scientific brains to prevent the extinction of the species that are still here.

That's mostly a creationist claim, R2.

Atmospheric oxygen levels have only fallen 0.7% over the past 800,000 years. It's nearly the same as it was when mammoths were here.

Yes, they should bring them back. The science necessary to do that will be quite useful when it becomes necessary to bring back the large numbers of animals which are soon going to go extinct. Not to mention humans.

And do what with it? Put it in a zoo enclosure so people can gawk? I wouldn't want to be brought back from the dead for that. I doubt they're going to release them into the wild or that they'd thrive if they were there. Aren't they from cold areas? Global warming is going to kill them off all over again.

by Anonymousreply 7September 21, 2021 9:14 PM

How's it taste?

You really ought to read the article, R7.

by Anonymousreply 9September 21, 2021 9:18 PM

Can’t read it because it’s presented via some bullshit app.

by Anonymousreply 10September 21, 2021 9:33 PM

To what end? The planet already has too many carbon based lifeforms, requiring too much fuel.

by Anonymousreply 11September 21, 2021 9:37 PM

R6 Humans are going to become extinct soon? Even if that was true, that would be w great thing for the planet, not a bad one.

by Anonymousreply 12September 21, 2021 9:51 PM

Then, R10, try this one:

What if it turns out, after we resurrect them, that their droppings were broken down by specialized bacteria that have long since departed this earth along with the mammoths themselves? Will vast stretches of our tundra be disfigured by increasing piles of undecayed mammoth poop?

by Anonymousreply 14September 22, 2021 2:12 AM

It's the liberal Hollywoods! I'm telling you! They need to revive everything to squeeze out a second act.
