The grand jury indictment alleges that Benton and Wead worked together to accept $100,000 from an unidentified Russian national in order to get the foreigner a meeting with then-candidate Trump at a fundraiser in Philadelphia on Sept. 22, 2016.

You can plead not guilty all you want, but the moment the Feds charge you, you’re going to jail unless they can use you to flip on someone bigger. Something like 96% of federal cases are won by the government. You’re chances of winning a trial against them are pretty much nil. The Feds never lose a case, and they don’t take a shot unless they know they’ll win. It’s why they’re taking so long with Trump. These guys are going to jail. It’s better to take a plea.

Yet Trump's and rethugs do not care one bit, and it won't persuade to stop doing shit like they. They are trash, and all looking out for their money and their masters.

I find it a little concerning that GOP operatives were taking money from Russians to schedule private meetings with Trump and no one in the media seems that interested in it. But maybe it's just the wholesale disregard of Trump these days, no one much cares about him anymore.

[quote]The case against Benton and Wead has been assigned to Judge Trevor McFadden, a Trump appointee.

It’s doesn’t matter if they don’t care. There’s not going to be a Republican President to pardon them for nearly a decade, possibly longer. Once you have jail staring you in the face, it’s a very different story. It’s Trump’s greatest fear.

They took $100,000 from Russia, gave $25,000 to the RNC and pocketed $75,000 for themselves. That's a nice commission!

crooks

I guess my point is, it only affects these individuals. The party itself, nor up and coming rethug trash will change their behavior at all.

by Anonymousreply 9September 21, 2021 12:49 PM

I'm guessing that the GOP got more money than the $25,000 the Feds found a paper trail for. Just a hunch!
