Is Prince Charles making a mistake cutting the number of royals to 7?

What happens to Anne, Edward, Sophie, etc?

by Anonymousreply 12September 22, 2021 1:16 AM

And then there were none….

Ten Little Windsor-Mountbattens.

When did he do that?

7 is a lucky number so I think this is a good decision.

The left-behind ones can become influencers/do advertising/etc

He will be snipped himself as soon as his mother departs!

I don't think he is making a mistake confining it to the seven, no. Value for money. Plus, most are mature adults, the best candidates for behaving properly. The British monarchy is at its best when it is dull, dutiful and on parade for the nation, not the pap walk.

What surprises me is he's smart enough to keep Anne and the Wessexes. From time to time there is reporting they go too. He's such a peevish character and you can see where idiot Harry gets the blunder gene, so it's a slight miracle he doesn't buy a ton of ill will by cutting them late in their royal careers and with their ties and continuity to the longest reign in history, which on some level will still be linked to the new reign. Firing Anne would be like putting grandma in the nursing home just because she's inconvenient still living on her own. Firing Edward would be like sending an aging but healthy dog "to go live on a farm" because you didn't want to pay the vet bills.

If Charles' reign is to be a success he needs to be creative and kind, not activist and disruptive. He's got a daughter in law for that and she's far better at it and a very good example of what happens to you when you don't deliver what the public wants from the job.

Besides which, to be honest, Camilla's got to be a cancer factory. She's mid seventies, smoked for years like a chimney.... he'll probably be a grieving widower for a big part of his reign.

Maybe he will retreat to Scotland after Cam's death - he can carry on with a salt of the earth Scottish woman, as his predecessor did with Mr. Brown.

Nah. He's good, OP. He's keeping Anne since she will be the one to tell him when she is to retire to begin with. And, she's keeping Edward and the Missus and maybe later on Lady Louise will step up to the plate in some capacity.

Charles is 72. He's going to have a short reign.
