Stupidly defiant and just plain stupid. It seems like the pandemic is over, hundreds of thousands of people gathered to watch the game and don't care about global health precautions.
Penn State: This is irresponsible and outrageous

Sigh. Another 'Sky is Falling' thread.

Other than kids, I no longer care AT ALL about the fates of the unvaccinated. I sometimes think if they could die off faster it would be best for all of us.
by Anonymous | reply 2 | September 20, 2021 5:41 AM |
Let them all die. The faster they die, the sooner we don't have to listen to their stupid whining excuses anymore.

OP, You DO know that fans were at all manner of colleges and universities on Saturday? It's called "NCAA football," and a filled stadium is most certainly not unique to Penn State. Check the rest of the Big 10/11, the SEC, the Pac-10, you get the picture.
Was it smart during the pandemic? No. Although as a graduate and football fan, I thought the "White-Out" looked pretty cool.

Here's a tip: This coming Saturday, switch around among ABC, ESPN/2/3, SEC Channel, Big 10 Channel, CBS, and Fox at noon, 3:30, and 7:30.
There will be much for you to find fault with, OP.

2000 deaths from Covid every day.
Sure, let's go to a game! Cram in there, unmasked, with tens of thousands of people yelling and spewing god knows what all around them. What could possibly go wrong?
It's foolish at Penn, it's foolish ANYWHERE and for any reason. Concerts? Stupid! Religious revivals? Stupid! Giant swap meets? Stupid! Dump rallies? Extra stupid!
It's just a really dumb thing to do right now. Be patient. No, more patient, you'll live longer.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | September 20, 2021 6:18 AM |
Good for them. Live life, instead of crawling in your basement.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | September 20, 2021 7:08 AM |
Watching football with 110,000 other unmasked people is not "living life." It's lemming behavior.

[quote] Although as a graduate and football fan, I thought the "White-Out" looked pretty cool.
I agree it looks amazing and fun.
Anyone who has never been to a college football game doesn't get it. They'll never get it.
It's a blast. Wish I could have been there.

DL'rs with all the latest death numbers, as they clutch their pearls and gnash their teeth!

I think it's only the older ones, R11.
Some of us welcome the return to normalcy.

"It's foolish at Penn, it's foolish ANYWHERE and for any reason." (r6)
No, Penn is this one.
by Anonymous | reply 13 | September 20, 2021 8:35 AM |
R12=moron. Look at what happened to Italy after a super spreader even with 80,000 people.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | September 20, 2021 8:36 AM |
After reading about what's happening in Australia, I'm glad I live in the USA.
I'd much rather watch a game in a stadium with 80,000 other people, than be locked up and quarantined at home for months.
Fuck that!
by Anonymous | reply 15 | September 20, 2021 8:43 AM |
Big deal. If you are vaccinated then fine, just live your life, henny penny.
by Anonymous | reply 16 | September 20, 2021 10:08 AM |
Old fat fart OP is being concerned listlessly again! Life must go on. And if we are going to die, then we die!!! Enough is enough with this covid panic shit!!!
by Anonymous | reply 17 | September 20, 2021 10:15 AM |
If they're vaccinated, they'll be fine.
If they're not then they shouldn't be there and if they are then it's on them.

I had a dream last night that I had to pick up all of those white towels (or whatever they are) the fans are waving from where they had fallen on the lawns in my childhood neighborhood. There were hundreds of them, and I woke up before I could finish picking them all up.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | September 20, 2021 12:53 PM |
Yeah, the same thing's going on in the Big Ten college town where I live. You just mask up and stay out of crowded places, restaurants and bars. Can we be honest? People who give a toss about human safety and welfare would have abandoned football when we learned about the horrible injuries suffered by players.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | September 20, 2021 1:06 PM |
Yes, we're about to become extinct.....but I had to go to my dumb game to watch people smash into each other! Mah freedumbs!
by Anonymous | reply 21 | September 20, 2021 1:09 PM |
There's a weird, "No! Everyone must throw caution to the wind and pretend there's no Covid anymore right now or you're throwing your life away forever. She's sick of this shit!" person here.
Do whatever you want and leave other people alone to do whatever they want.

They are outdoors.
Most are likely vaccinated.
The others can drop dead.
Looks like fun!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | September 21, 2021 6:18 AM |
Well . . . did they win?
by Anonymous | reply 24 | September 21, 2021 6:25 AM |
Crowds like this should not be happening. There should be limited capacity regardless of getting to wave a little while flag. Jesus Christ.

OP remind me the risks these people took. COVID, Full-blown AIDS, and antibiotic resistance STIs, right?
by Anonymous | reply 29 | September 21, 2021 11:00 AM |
I can smell the sweet musky college football hero TAINT through my computer screen!
by Anonymous | reply 30 | September 21, 2021 11:01 AM |
Those who criticize vaccinated folks for doing what the vaccine allows them to do are trolls. Can they get sick? Yes. But they won’t die, and will more likely than not say out of the hospital. But these concern trolls want everyone to believe the vaccine is as ineffective as the anti-vaxxers do.
And yeah, Penn State Whiteouts are amazing.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | September 21, 2021 11:22 AM |
R23, now why couldn't you turn that into a haiku?

I agree totally, but when I say anything like this, I get piled-on for not having enough "humanity."
One of the reasons I come to DL--I can say what I really think.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | September 21, 2021 11:27 AM |
R25, Why don't you write that to all college and university presidents and the poobahs of the NCAA? I don't take issue with the idea; I object to one university's being singled out.
by Anonymous | reply 34 | September 21, 2021 4:36 PM |
I like the shriekers claiming we're all "locked up at home" if we refuse to attend a fucking football game with tens of thousands of people many of them unmasked, unvaxxed Trumpers. Yeah, we're the ones shrieking!
Stupidity has never been more popular!
