Earthquake swarm triggers volcano alert.
I sailed to LaPalma years ago. It was a lovely island, especially after the built-up ones like Tenerife.

The trouble with these news articles is they don't put the warning in context. Have they had these seismic activities before? Is it something more unusual this time?

I hope that is not the volcano that might someday collapse into the ocean causing a mega-tsunami that could destroy the East Coast of the US.

Interesting line in R6s link abut the 1949 eruption:
[quote] The onset of the eruption was witnessed by a shepherd who was tending his flock of sheep on the flank of the Nambroque – (Bonelli-Rubio 1950, is explicit that the shepherd was only tending sheep).
"Is explicit that the shepherd was only tending sheep"? Why would they even feel they need to say that?

oof I thought Brian De Palma was in trouble when I first saw this thread.

Because they wanted to make sure no one thought the shepherd was fucking his sheep. Just tending only.

I heard they are evacuating the bears to Sitges for safety! Mmmmmmmmm. The US military evacuation cargo planes are loaded with massage tables and warm oil!

R10 Sitges is on the Med. The Canary Islands are on the Atlantic Ocean. Please learn some geography.

If the island breaks, the east coast is toast.

So that's it?? After all this world catastrophe build-up, just a little sputter?

This warms my heart. Always nice to see them rescuing animals. The humans have all evacuated already.

Crazy Spaniards. Right up until the eruption the threat level was still only at yellow.
