The Bodyguard to be remade

Matthew López, the Tony-nominated playwright of “The Inheritance,” has been hired to write the reimagining.

Given the writer, Rachel Marron will likely be a Trans Woman Of Colour. And Nicki will be a spicy Latina played by racist little bitch Camila Cabello.

Jaden Smith IS Rachel Marron!

by Anonymousreply 1September 15, 2021 6:59 PM

Tyler Perry IS everyone!

by Anonymousreply 2September 15, 2021 7:10 PM

Stale shit. DO SOMETHING NEW HOLLYWOOD.

by Anonymousreply 3September 15, 2021 7:37 PM

Never let her out of your sight. Never let your guard down. Never fall in love.

Lorraine Cox IS Rachel Marron! Evan Rachel Wood IS Frank.

by Anonymousreply 4September 15, 2021 8:51 PM

Is there a role for Elliot Page as an ex secret services elite trained killer?

by Anonymousreply 5September 15, 2021 8:55 PM

I would love for it to star Elliot Page and Lizzo, if only for the scene where he has to carry her through the crowd.

by Anonymousreply 6September 15, 2021 9:01 PM

Was it not woke enough?

by Anonymousreply 7September 15, 2021 9:04 PM

R5 answered my question.

by Anonymousreply 8September 15, 2021 9:05 PM

LOL r7!!! Do you consider The Bodyguard “woke” because it featured an interracial romance?

by Anonymousreply 9September 15, 2021 9:08 PM

Sure.

by Anonymousreply 10September 15, 2021 9:18 PM

I may be too young for the role, but I think I have the gravitas as a worldwide music and cinema legend to do this character justice. Call me.

by Anonymousreply 11September 15, 2021 9:20 PM

I Have Nothing...Between My Legs Anymore

by Anonymousreply 12September 15, 2021 9:27 PM

What do we know about Matthew Lopez?

by Anonymousreply 13September 15, 2021 9:28 PM

He looks like David Archuletta?

by Anonymousreply 14September 15, 2021 9:30 PM

IIIIIIIII-EEEE-IIIIIIII-EEEE-IIIIIIIIII-WILL-NEVER

LOVE-YEEEEWWWW-WHOOOOWHOO WHOOOWWWWWWWWWWW.

[quote]I would love for it to star Elliot Page and Lizzo, if only for the scene where he has to carry her through the crowd.

With a forklift.

by Anonymousreply 16September 15, 2021 9:35 PM

R16, I was picturing wobbly legs and falling on his ass only to have Lizzo pick him up and carry Elliot through the crowd. It wouldn't make any sense in the scene but it'd be hilarious to watch.

by Anonymousreply 17September 15, 2021 9:39 PM

Yawn, the "I hate trans people" brigade never stops dragging trans people into EVERY discussion

by Anonymousreply 18September 15, 2021 9:40 PM

The film spent 10 weeks in the Top 10, ultimately grossing $121.9 million domestically, and $410.9 million worldwide.

I was today years old when I learned that the world went absolutely apeshit for this movie.

by Anonymousreply 19September 15, 2021 9:42 PM

But don’t you “hate” ex-gays, R18?

by Anonymousreply 20September 15, 2021 9:42 PM

Will only watch it if they make it gay - maybe Justin Bieber and a bodyguard with BBC.

by Anonymousreply 21September 15, 2021 9:45 PM

Is this turning into a franchise like A Star Is Born? A remake every few years. Hope not. The original was a great pop movie.

by Anonymousreply 22September 15, 2021 9:53 PM

R13 he wrote The Inheritance, an AIDS-era homage to Howards End, which features EM Forster as a character.

So I doubt this will be a “straight” adaptation.

by Anonymousreply 23September 15, 2021 10:03 PM

Make no mistake - Katharine McPhee will blow your minds as Rachel.

by Anonymousreply 24September 15, 2021 10:04 PM

Another so-called Progressive Remake. It looks more like a propaganda from Hollywood than a remake. America is sickening the whole world with its Woke dogma. No wonder people are turning to Asian cinema which is much more creative.

by Anonymousreply 25September 15, 2021 10:15 PM

Queen Latifah should play Frank.

by Anonymousreply 26September 15, 2021 11:18 PM

I will only watch if Froy is the singer and Richard Madden the bodyguard.

by Anonymousreply 27September 15, 2021 11:22 PM

I Used To Be Every Woman!

by Anonymousreply 28September 15, 2021 11:35 PM

Why are people saying this is going to be so "woke" and "progressive"? Is it because of who's producing/directing it or because of Lopez? If you're referring to Lopez, the two lead characters in "The Inheritance" were both white males, so he does not limit himself to only writing about people of color. (Granted, both were gay, which also falls under the "woke" umbrella.)

by Anonymousreply 29September 15, 2021 11:43 PM

You can't remake the original. It's a classic.

by Anonymousreply 30September 15, 2021 11:45 PM

[quote] Why are people saying this is going to be so "woke" and "progressive"?

Because everything is woke and progressive. The Wonder Years reboot is black. The Father of the Bride remake is latinx. Woke up and smell the coffee!

by Anonymousreply 31September 15, 2021 11:48 PM

I Love Lucia!

by Anonymousreply 32September 15, 2021 11:52 PM

And again this intellectual dishonesty coming from the same brainwashed idiots. Transforming Whitney Houston charactere, who is a woman, into a Trans is not progressive nor Woke ??? After that, when people say that Trans people want to erase women, the trannies dare to take offense. I won't lose a single cent for this pure progressive Hollywood crap.

by Anonymousreply 33September 16, 2021 12:20 AM

Due to the woke culture, the singer will be a trans and the bodyguard is a macho lesbo

by Anonymousreply 34September 16, 2021 12:23 AM

“Macho lesbians” are not part or welcomed into woke culture.

by Anonymousreply 35September 16, 2021 12:25 AM

Nobody asked Hollywood to convert to wokism. They are so out of touch with reality and real people that they think that Trans people who don't even represent 1% of the people in the world, are a majority. Keep your propaganda in America. I'm sick of your decadence. Fed up!

by Anonymousreply 36September 16, 2021 12:30 AM

Jesus Chirst can they stop remaking movies and.. I dunno, come up with an original idea?

by Anonymousreply 37September 16, 2021 12:41 AM

What a disgrace.

by Anonymousreply 38September 16, 2021 12:44 AM

Why not a sequel. Why a remake.

by Anonymousreply 39September 16, 2021 12:48 AM

OP, in the 90s, when Britney and Justin were dating, there were rumors Britney and Justin were going to star in a Bodyguard remake. Imagine the horror!!!

by Anonymousreply 40September 16, 2021 12:52 AM

It wasn’t even that good of a movie.

by Anonymousreply 41September 16, 2021 12:54 AM

Most people remember the soundtrack more than the film. The film was quite mediocre.

by Anonymousreply 42September 16, 2021 12:55 AM

R37 Meh nothing is new under the sun. Hollywood has been remaking movies since the 1930’s. Stories can be retold to new generations because new generations find older versions to be boring and dated. How much of America’s young movie audience has even seen “The Bodyguard”? So I don’t feel like there’s anything wrong with remakes.

by Anonymousreply 43September 16, 2021 12:56 AM

Armie in the Costner role. And for Whitney.

by Anonymousreply 44September 16, 2021 12:59 AM

I will say, I wish Hollywood would remake movies that sucked but deserved a second chance. Like “Drop Dead Fred” and “Once Upon A Crime”. Great concepts, terrible movies but watchable.

by Anonymousreply 45September 16, 2021 1:06 AM

I'm old. I feel that are great writers out there. Look at some of the great stuff showing up here & there. Why the hell is Hollywood so into promoting remake, retooled, recycled crap over & over & over? Is it purely nepotism & it's not who you know it's who you blow? Don't they have ANY number guys who say, look at streaming, looking Asiana cinema, their getting the audience? Any of you inside industry people who have some insight on this, please enlighten me. I was in a small profitable business for a few years, not films. Learned if it ain't making $$ move on.

by Anonymousreply 46September 16, 2021 1:43 AM

Lest we forget it was long ago to have been a vehicle for Diana Ross and Ryan O’Neal.

by Anonymousreply 47September 16, 2021 1:46 AM

r46 Because it has brand recognition so they feel it has a built in audience. Original fans from the 90s will watch, and so will their kids, depending on who is cast and how it’s marketed. Hollywood loves a safe bet and pays a bundle for research. Plus, there is a bottomless appetite for content now.

by Anonymousreply 48September 16, 2021 1:50 AM

Would it be too cliche to have Rihanna play Rachel?

by Anonymousreply 49September 16, 2021 8:40 AM

R49 Rachel is supposed to have talent.

by Anonymousreply 50September 16, 2021 8:42 AM

Rachel should be Sean Mendes.

by Anonymousreply 51September 16, 2021 12:01 PM

R50 I guess i deserved that 🤣

by Anonymousreply 52September 16, 2021 2:26 PM

R47 I thought it was Steve McQueen.

by Anonymousreply 53September 16, 2021 3:22 PM

[quote] “Macho lesbians” are not part or welcomed into woke culture.

True. They apparently are actually men, because they have short hair and wear jeans.
