Her bizarre bass voice scares me. The effort she puts into that fake voice is sociopathic to me.
So. Her boyfriend all of a sudden like was harming her and that gave its way to her unethical conduct? I'm not buying it and to use that as an excuse in addition to her having spawned (as an excuse) is bananas.
Is her boyfriend a most wholesome and ethical dude? Nope. They hid their relationship and all and she moved onto the man she spawned with. But, they both had a lack of morals and both knew what they were doing with the fake machine.
I still don't understand that machine. It makes no scientific sense because there is no centrifuge, no nothing. Medical cons are serious stuff, you know, it's different than a Ponzi Scheme because people's actual lives can oftentimes be at stake.

R7 Nobody said there are more female sociopaths than male sociopaths, you idiot. The argument is simply that there are people who seek to evade responsibility for their actions by crying tears in front of the authorities -- and that 99% of those people are women.
This is a widely known phenomenon, and it's not "MAGAts" who are pointing the finger at it. Just google "toxic femininity" to find testimonies of lesbians discussing how their female ex-partners feigned helplessness and passivity in order to engage in toxic behavior in lesbian relationships. Google also "white women's tears" to read explanations by people of color of both sexes of how white women perform victimhood in order to get the upper-hand in social conflicts against non-whites. When that Canadian Karen made that threat to that black gay birdwatcher, that of calling police saying a black man was threatening her, that was a prime example of a white woman abusing social stereotypes to get what she wanted. Elizabeth Holmes is doing the same thing against her ex-boyfriend, who, incidentally, is of Indian origin.
A male sociopath would have chosen a different line of defense, because he would have known that crying tears over the abuse he suffered at the hands of his girlfriend in order to get absolution for financial crimes would go nowherefor him -- people would just laugh at his kooky arguments from the jury stand. This sort of thing just doesn't work for men.
Holmes, on the other hand, is hopeful of getting something out of this sort of tactic because the western world has spent the past decade being primed to think of men as worms and of women as saints.
That stupid post you wrote is proof of that fact. Someone came along recognizing an obvious fact, that pretend-victimhood is a typically female tactic to evade responsibility, that you started making a fuss about "male sociopaths! and violent crimes!" in a Pavlovian reflex, as if this sort of thing had any bearing on the matter at hand. It does not. Holmes is not being charged with violent crimes; she is being accused of corporate fraud. And no one said only women like Holmes commit this kind of crime. What has been said is that this shameless abuse of victimhood politics is typical of women. And it is. Holmes is not pursuing this line because she is a sociopath, but because she is a 21st century woman who knows all the sociocultural privilege that modern times have given her just because she is a woman.

by Anonymous | reply 37 | September 1, 2021 12:25 AM |
Exactly. The fact that the ex-is non white is particularly jarring. The whole thing reeks of a white woman deceptively using the ascendant and virtuous image of white womanhood and the crass orientalist image of the mean and flinty Asian man to get what she wants (also see: Amanda Knox). It plays into centuries of demeaning and degrading stereotypes of non-whites. This bitch is a verified sociopath. The fact that she even has the gall to play this hand is proof that white women get treated like little hot house orchids by the justice system.

She got with him because she had money and know how when it came to start up companies. He gave her something like $20 million or more from the proceeds of the sale of his business. She used him. She was in the driver's seat the whole time. She used that stupid professor at Stanford. She used her neighbor investor Tim Draper who she babysat for.
Her entire MO was using men for money or influence. And she did this from a pretty early age like 19 or younger.
I actually didn't realize the trial was a go. Guess I have my obsession mapped out for the near future.
If you haven't seen the HBO documentary. The Inventor, then watch it. Very very good. It was on youtube under a Spanish name since it had Spanish subtitles. I think they took that free upload down. Here's a link to renting it on Youtube - but it's obviously also on HBO.

by Anonymous | reply 47 | September 1, 2021 12:53 AM |

Sorry meant to say at R42 - she got with him because HE had money . . .
Yes, R43, the book is fabulous. I saw the doc first and then read the book.
John Carreyrou is my hero. I didn't realize he left the Wall Street Journal in 2019 where he had been forever starting in Europe where he grew up and ending in NYC. The WSJ wouldn't allow him to make money on speeches while he worked for them. So he left. I read he plans to write non-fiction books from now on.
I hope he is making tons of money from the film and other sources. He deserves it. Someone should also pay him big money to teach journalism - investigative journalism and ethics.

There were no small investors - they were all investment funds and fabulously wealthy people. People who could afford to lose $125 million and not be hurt by it like Rupert Murdoch and Betsy Amway.
There were everyday people, however, used as essentially guinea pigs in the thankfully small rollout of the testing device(s). There were false results and some adverse results for those patients/clients.

I think she will go to jail
by Anonymous | reply 52 | September 1, 2021 1:07 AM |
R48 A woman is less likely to go to jail than a man who committed the same crime in the same context and has the same background as her. Some men do luck out and evade justice. But that doesn't mean that women have it even easier, on average. They do. We should really stop trying to compare the female experience with that of racial minorities. Just because there's a well known bias against black men in the justice system, doesn't mean there's a similar one against women. Black men are stereotyped as dangerous, wild, and a threat to social order. Women, or at least white women, are stereotyped as being the opposite -- fragile, helpless, civilized. Of course women will be treated differently from black men when they come into contact with police and prosecutors.
And by the way, it's unfortunate that you decide to use Hillary Clinton, of all people, as an argument that women don't dispropotionately abuse, and benefit from, victimhood politics. The same Hillary once tried to escape of having to debate Bernie Sanders ahead of some important primaries by painting him as a boorish male who was harassing and intimidating her poor, gente, female self. The whole thing looked so shameless, even some pro-Hillary media called on her to tone down the victimhood fest.
by Anonymous | reply 53 | September 1, 2021 1:17 AM |
Of course this psychopathic cunt used the oldest trick in the book - shit out a child right before the trial to avoid jail time. And I'm afraid it'll work. She might go to jail, but probably not for long.
Sometimes I wish it were possible to put women due to go on trial on mandatory contraception.

Not to my toot my own horn but I predicted 3 things about this fiasco in a thread about a year back (1) she would get pregnant (2) she would claim physical or sex abuse from BF and (3) she would serve almost no time. Two have already been proven correct and I'm guessing the third will as well.
by Anonymous | reply 55 | September 1, 2021 1:53 AM |
R11 " society doesn't allow men to get away with this sociopathic shit". It's very complicated. There are plenty of psychopathic male CEOs and military leaders in the US. There is an odd little quirk though to American culture. If a woman is relatively young , slim ,generically pretty or cute wasp blonde type she will be excused anything and I mean anything. There will always be someone voraciously defending her. It's a general rule with a few rare exceptions.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | September 1, 2021 1:59 AM |
I think her abuse defense will work. It's very of the moment so to speak. What's amusing about this twitter feminism that encourages nonsense like this is how shallow it is. All of these online warriors claim to be so outraged by rape and abuse towards women but never seem remotely disturbed by abuse towards women who don't already have significant social protections.

Us white people are so lucky! All we do is make shitty decisions and blame it on other people. Like that woman I ran over today. She should been able to see I was stressed and waited to cross the street before I hit her.
by Anonymous | reply 58 | September 1, 2021 3:04 AM |
If convicted her sentence will be guided by sentencing guidelines. Some of that is determined by the amount of money involved. That also happens with drug cases, for instance. How much money were the drugs worth - in plea negotiations, for instance, you bargain about how much the client will admit to trafficking.
The judge can take into account the child - but it has a father presumably not in jail and not on drugs etc. The kid can visit her in prison. She can push it in the prison yard swing.
Not every judge is stupid. The fact that she got pregnant - when she could have easily avoided getting pregnant - and brought a child into the world knowing she might have to abandon it for many years while she is in prison is just another sociopathic marker on her list. So just like she used all those men, used all those guinea pig patients, now she is using an innocent baby - she created an innocent baby as a mitigation point for her sentencing memorandum. That baby needs to flee her like a bat out of hell.
Her criminal history is zero. Without having looked at her potential guidelines, I think she'll do something like 5 years.

Liberal rich white women are beyond pathetic. Just because they’re not as bad as Donald Trump they view themselves as victims.
No other group has suffered as much as they have.
In reality, just cause white men are more despicable, doesn’t make them any less despicable than what they are.
They have all the power in this country yet are nothing more than pathetic victims. They use and hurt people, and they’re excuse is always “Donald Trump did worse”.
Kind of how white liberals think that in order to be racist you have to be part of the KKK and since they’re jot a part of the KKK they think they’re perfect and if anyone slightly critiques them over this, they lose their shit! Because how dare we complain about their racism when… “Donald Trump is still out there”.
Most white liberals didn’t even acknowledge racism existed until Trump became president.

Furthermore, it is the white liberal white woman/liberal of means, brought up safely and normally who is foisting chaos on the Western world because she lives through the type of people who haven't met a boundary that they haven't tried to destroy/destroyed. All the while making sure that they stick to their Ps and Qs lest they lose every privilege that they have (that has usually been wrought through the labour /shenanigans of the white men that they are so quick to accuse of every wrong doing).
My Black arse pays their "nicey nicey/be kind/sex work is work" nonsense fucking mind. Unlike them, I cannot afford to go as low as they claim to support me ( or at least the MALE Black woman) and breath fresh air again.

R65 I concur with your assessment about rich, white liberals, especially those who live in lily white communities. We have them here in the very diverse SF Bay Area. I know many of these supposed liberals who were/ are colleagues of mine. They live in wealthy, predominantly white enclaves of the Bay Area (Blackhawk, Alamo, Piedmont, Woodside), send their kids to lily white public or private schools, yet they’ll lecture you on how illiberal and racist you are without any hesitation. When questioned, they’ll defend themselves by pointing out that they serve on their school boards’ diversity committees. I kid you not, I’ve had actual conversations about it with my colleagues. One just recently sold her house in Piedmont for $700k over the asking price, which she bragged about nonstop for weeks. She’s always going on about how racist everyone else is, and how she can never be a Karen because one if her kids’ teacher is Asian and she just loves her for being Asian, as if that isn’t in itself condescending (seeing a person only through race/ ethnicity).
I can go on and on about rich, white liberal women in the SF Bay Area, and they unspoken pedestal conferred on them.

R57 Her defense won't work because of Twitter feminism, it will work because some simp on the jury will see a blonde, white mother with big blue eyes crying in court and he will fall hook, like, and sinker for her deception. She's relying on very old and outdated stereotypes, not just about women, but also about the insecurity straight white men feel vis-a-vis brown men. Straight guys innately white knight for attractive women who belong to their race. Women have been pulling this trick since time immemorial. I've also seen this tactic refereed to "ruling from the bottom".

At the most fraught moment in the defense's case, the machine will be solemnly rolled into the courtroom on a dolly, and cool, calm, and collected Elizabeth will step down and place a single drop of blood on it, and within seconds it'll diagnose Covid 19 and spit out a "receipt" containing a simple and effective (and complete) cure for the illness. Elizabeth will NOT be found GUILTY, she WILL NOT go to jail. She will be awarded the Nobel Prize for Medicine, and be named head of the Harvard Medical School, and will receive HUNDREDS OF MILLION$$ in royalties for her unparalleled invention. That's what I think.

According to experts, “The big risk for Holmes is that if she lies about anything on the stand, no matter how seemingly irrelevant, the jury will then conclude that she’s lying about the underlying charges in the case.” Demos adds that the prosecution is likely to try to poke holes in the defense’s claims about her mental state and lack of agency by examining “evidence about her control of communications, employment decisions, legal matters, and other financial decisions that would demonstrate that, in fact, she was the one in control and making the decisions, not Sunny.”
The only things that Holmes has going for her are where the trial is taking place and her status as new mother. I think Silicon Valley culture in San Jose actually serves to her advantage because people are more likely to envision scenarios where entrepreneurship justified bending the rules. It would then be up to the prosecution to hammer home that what Holmes did was more than just small lies to bend the rules, but deliberate fraud in both financial terms and health of trusting patients.

R75 Most of the comments aren't particularly sexist. Look at the thread about Holmes' fellow psychopath Erik Prince. Save a few posters mooning over his mediocre looks, the remarks are far harsher then anything written here ( as they should be considering the damage he's done). Many have just become weary of wealthy Anglo American women with massive amounts of social power flipping between being fiercely competent Girl Bosses to helpless quivering damsels in distress whenever it suits them.

I'm thinking she will testify in order to flesh out her defense (coercion from BF). The big question is ... will she keep that LOW voice or will she revert to a more high-pitched, girlish voice? We shall see ...

I have disproportionate hate for lying frauds who manipulate and damage other people with icy disinterest. And this cunt ran a very very long grift. Without a boubt, she is a danger to society and needs to be locked up and when she gets out, she needs to be watched.

Fuck these over privileged young white blonde whore cunts who think they can get away with just about anything (except racism) because they have the most desirable pussies in the eyes of most men.

Also, I am pretty sure the real her is those dumb cunt that expect everyone to be following her around helping her. And when things went bad, she then immediately blame everyone but herself. Those "investors" are just a bunch of rich horny old dude.

Yea, sorry but there are plenty of men locked up for economic crimes and fraud including Ponzi-like schemes. Where do you get the idea that men are not punished for this just because ALL men are not punished for it.
by Anonymous | reply 99 | September 3, 2021 8:08 PM |
Sorry, but she is evil. Theranos teetered on the edge of ethical conduct in medical experiments. One of the early trials involved end-stage cancer patients, and although the trial did not use Theranos’ results to base clinical course of care, it is too close to unethical use of human experimentation. She must have known about this, none of her chosen, top staff cared nor were fully cognizant of this, and the ones who were aware were quickly fired. She only wanted yes-guys who acquiesced to unethical practices both in financial and medical terms.
As a healthcare professional, I find it odd that her top advisers and staff were from tech segment , if she had advisers from healthcare professions, she would’ve gotten big pushback. One of the things that you’d learn in postgraduate work in any of the healthcare/ medical professions is medical research protocols and ethics.
by Anonymous | reply 100 | September 3, 2021 8:22 PM |
Absolutely, R100. Those cancer trials proved she didn't care about the consequences of her grifting one bit. I was appalled when I read that aspect of her avarice.
When I first learned of this I did a deep dive via google - lol - but I found a forum for blood work health professionals - techs and doctors. I went back to older discussions and found discussions about Theranos and her. Every single person on that forum, I think except one Holmes cheerleader, had her number a year before Carreyrou outed her. One women posting said her husband worked for a company - IIRC in Europe, maybe Germany - that supped Theranos with a large number of some of their machines which were actually doing the work Theranos claimed their "special" machine was doing.
She was not interested in ethics. She drove her ethical scientist to commit suicide. She sicced her unethical lawyers onto her ethical former employees.
by Anonymous | reply 101 | September 3, 2021 8:58 PM |
"She drove her ethical scientist to commit suicide."
Yes, a lot of people forget that part. I was shocked when I read the book by the WSJ reporter, she was a monster to her employees.
by Anonymous | reply 102 | September 3, 2021 9:31 PM |
The WSJ deserves some credit for printing the exposé on Theranos, which threatened the paper with lawsuit from its attack dog lawyer David Boies. From the article linked “ The Journal published the Theranos story in October 2015, ignoring legal threats from Boies and others. This is possibly the only story you will ever read in which Rupert Murdoch, whose News Corp. owns the Journal, is a hero; printing Carreyrou’s takedown cost Murdoch his $125 million investment in Holmes’s company.” Theranos’ company culture was one of bullying, starting from its founder

by Anonymous | reply 104 | September 3, 2021 9:41 PM |
R101 exactly, typical of sociopaths to have zero conscience about who they harm as long as they themselves benefit from consequences of their behavior. You, me, people who have conscience would not fire staff who bring these ethical problems to attention, instead we’d be aghast at it. That is if we embark upon unethical practices to begin with, as Holmes had done knowingly.

[quote] The WSJ deserves some credit for printing the exposé on Theranos,
I give all credit to Carreyrou. There were people he pursued who bravely helped him and there was the group of Anti-Theranos people who first alerted him to issues about Theranos who also are due credit. But he pulled it all together and he persisted smartly. I was rather shocked when I heard about how Murdoch refused to interfere with Carreyrou despite his huge investment in Theranos ( he was actually he biggest investor they had) and the fact that Holmes came to him in person three times to pressure him to kill the story. Murdoch just told her he trusted his news staff side and I have learned since that he doesn't interfere with that side of his empire. I guess he thinks it's enough that he has say on its editorial side.
Carreyrou had already won the Pulitzer Prize twice before but I wish he had won it for this story. I hope he makes lots of money from the film.
by Anonymous | reply 106 | September 4, 2021 4:26 AM |
Interesting that Murdoch refused. Most of the scientifically illiterate media was up her ass for about 2 years. There's an interview with Norah O Donnell where O Donnell is practically gushing over her. I guess just this once Murdoch was good for something.
I wonder how many people quietly raised objections over Holmes methodology but were dismissed as jealous of the bright young star.

I put a lot of blame on the legal counsel who threatened the whistleblower kid (and Carreyrou). I get that lawyers don’t necessarily have science or medical backgrounds sufficient to see through the Theranos BS, but they had to have buried their heads in the sand here, and for what? A client who was clearly going down at some point? Not just unethical, stupid as well.

by Anonymous | reply 125 | September 16, 2021 5:27 PM |
Yeah. A woman who caused a lot of deaths as well as delayed proper diagnosis of life threatening medical conditions for many others was "pegging the patriarchy." She's as about as much a feminist icon as Elizabeth Bathory, Myra Hindley, Aileen Whorenos and Casey Anthony are. Give me a fucking break. 🙄

[Quote]And the men are dumb for instantly believing a pretty woman without thinking “Does this shit even work?”
I don't understand the obsession of some here with making the discussion fall again and again on the heads of the male investors of Theranos. To begin with, I, unlike Hillary Clinton, have nothing good to say about Henry Kissinger. But with that said, why would I expect from this nearly 100-year-old man, who made a name in foreign policy, the kind of acumen on high-tech matters that would have allowed him to see that Holmes was full of shit?
Furthermore, if Holmes had never secured financial support from the investor class for her endeavor, and Theranos never took off from the ground, we all KNOW she would be included in a Buzzfeed-type listicle called something like: "10 Female Super-Brains That Could Be Changing The World But Aren't -- Because of Men."
I wouldn't be surprised, in fact, if Holmes's fundraising success wasn't, in part, based on the feminist bonhomie of investors, that is, on their desire to support alleged female talent in a field so overwhelmingly male, as the feminist media constantly demand from men in positions of privilege and power.
Some of you are so uncomfortable with the existence of someone like Elizabeth Holmes - a potential icon in women's history who turns out to be a fraud - that you'd rather point the finger at a group of naive investors whose only sin in this story, as far as we know, is that of scientific ignorance, not that of malevolence of character, as in the case of Holmes herself.
