Well—the Red Skins logo was created by a Native American for one and his family received royalties from it, which I believe has since stopped since their name change. They even said this “name change” is ridiculous. The irony of that change is that the only people harmed by that name change are Native Americans who now lose that money.

I really can't get behind the name change to "Guardians" until I see the racist, sexist, or homophobic cartoon avatar that will represent a Guardian on the uniforms or in print.

It would be better to continue to honor indigenous people rather than erase their presence in sports.

I think that several Native American activists have been quite outspoken about the use of tribal names being used on products and sports teams. And they have the backing of most of their constituents. We have to listen to them and not a bunch of spoiled entitled white people who are butt hurt because someone is asking them to think about the feelings of others. Give me a good reason as to why sports teams should not change their names.

Guardians of Traffic is kind of a cool name for the bridge statues so it’s a good choice. The logo however, there was a better rendition that included a stylized drawing of the statue’s profile. Now THAT was a missed opportunity.
