What is the greatest threat to the United States?
by Anonymous | reply 33 | July 24, 2021 2:53 AM |
Republicans

Racism. And there’s nothing one can do to get rid of it.

Shit stirrers on DL
by Anonymous | reply 4 | July 22, 2021 4:12 PM |
Republicans, period.
All other threats flourish because of their ineptitude, greed, irresponsibility, hubris, ignorance, arrogance, entitlement, self-loathing and hatred.

Having people refer to you by only one set of pronouns.

White supremacist militias fall under right wing authoritarianism.

The United States.
by Anonymous | reply 8 | July 22, 2021 4:40 PM |
Definitely Republicans. Especially the religious ones. They'll find a way to defend anything no matter how horrid.

The ones who selected authoritarian right such as R7 are being conned. The authoritarian right have no power or influence. I would rank them as follows:
1. Income Inequality
2. Foreign Threats
3. Cyber Attack

Ignorant and proud of it people, already a small majority of likely voters.
You have a lot of stupid fuckers who are all too happy to vote against their interests if they there there is even a small chance it will put a thumb on anybody they don't like - and that list is getting longer fast

Consumerism.

Income inequality goes hand in hand with Authoritarian Right and climate change and some others. Wealth is power. We’ve (meaning primarily republicans) have given 0.1% more wealth than 90% of us combined. Talk about the reason we can’t have nice things. We’re a miserable country and the reason is we’ve funneled money to so few people while not investing in ourselves. If we kept the Kennedy/Johnson tax rates, we’d have had $47 trillion to spend on the bottom 99% since 1980 alone.
We don’t have a spending problem we have a revenue problem.

Income inequality is a national security threat. Fuck, it’s an emergency.
by Anonymous | reply 14 | July 23, 2021 10:45 PM |
All of the above, op

Then why does such a rich state like California have worse income inequality and growing homelessness?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | July 23, 2021 10:52 PM |
Republicans 2.0
by Anonymous | reply 17 | July 23, 2021 10:52 PM |
R16 CA taxes the rich quite a bit. But it is also under FEDERAL rules so the rich still take advantage of that. CA is almost too successful. It is so successful that property is so expensive (supply/demand) due to the amount of good jobs it has priced people out of their homes. Homeless flock to CA due to its weather.

This doesn't make any sense as green energy policies have led to the loss of jobs, higher energy costs, and a renewable energy sector whose infrastructure has been lagging for decades despite huge amounts of investment.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | July 23, 2021 11:01 PM |
R19 If we had INVESTED as we should have, which we didn’t because we didn’t have the money, we’d have seen none of that. But I see you have the freeper talking points down.

The Orange Idiot and his Zombies are domestic terrorists, so there's that.

Climate change and the wildfires are out of control in California and Oregon. It’s making its own fire weather and fire tornadoes. It’s scary.

The results of this poll show exactly how our priorities are out of whack. Minutes after this thread was posted, a topic about cyber hacking was posted and died after a dozen replies. Meanwhile, multiple threads about Trump or January 6 get filled up in a matter of hours. You could say our fast food media consumption could also be classified as a threat.

All of our problems flow from the same poison spring of conservatism.
by Anonymous | reply 25 | July 24, 2021 12:46 AM |
We are getting cyber-attacked on a weekly basis now. And everyone acts like it's just an obese incel in his mom's basement.
These are just tests. Wouldn't the Republicans love for Joe to get a devastating blackout, financial hack, etc. on his watch? He'd never recover politically.

Asteroids and aliens, in that order.

Income inequality has already changed society in fundamental ways that are never really talked about. When I was growing up, we used to idolize celebrities and support them in their artistic endeavors. Nowadays, people are extremely cynical and spiteful when celebrities post pictures of their vacations or mansion homes. Chrissie Tiegen and Ellen Degeneres are some of the more well known examples, but other celebrities are feeling the pressure to publicize their acts of good will in order to avoid potential blowback to their reputations. However, I believe the problem will only get worse despite their virtue signaling and society itself could be completely upended. If Hollywood and Silicon Valley can keep hoarding the wealth all for themselves without providing anything substantial, then there will be hell to pay.

r30 ummmmm who cares
by Anonymous | reply 31 | July 24, 2021 2:32 AM |
The correct answer is cyber attacks. Why do most DLers not know this?
by Anonymous | reply 32 | July 24, 2021 2:51 AM |
It depends on how you define threat. Yes, cyber attacks are dangerous things, day to day. A nation at war with itself is pretty bad too for any hope of going forward.
