Back in late May and early June, some of us were predicting that the deplorables wouldn't get vaccinated and that they would stop wearing masks, leading to a spike in cases. We said there would be a "summer surge" as people let their guard down and started traveling again. We were accused of being "gloom and doom trolls." Yet, it's the gloom and doom trolls who have generally been right throughout the pandemic.

This has been fucked from the start, deplorables or not. They haven't helped matters of course, but let's be real, at least half of Americans have been selfish and entitled, across the political spectrum. From day 1, they wouldn't stop traveling for pleasure. Borders remained open. Restrictions were flimsy. Messages were mixed. Even if more people were vaccinated, we never stopped international mingling, where the unvaccinated run amok due to the complications with vaccinating an entire globe.

Even now, with the risk of the virus bypassing vaccines with every new exposure, you see people flipping out about having to do anything at all that's even semi responsible. These type of vaccinated and unvaccinated people are 2 sides of the same coin. They've made it clear that their motto is "if it's not me, fuck everyone else".

Hopefully the breakthrough cases remain small in number and nothing mutates to make vaccines ineffective, but if that happens, it won't be a shock. Sometimes I wonder if we should've just let shit hit the fan to get it over with.

The right was demanding that mask mandates end. In response, CDC got rid of mask mandates.

Now that cases are rising astronomically again, the right will then blame CDC for getting rid of mask mandates.

I cancelled my annual 3 month NYC stay. This thing has picked up steam again. I admit, I’m scared of the mutations; making my vax useless. Like we are on the verge of starting all over again.
