What is Glenn Close’s “Signature” Role?

For which role will Glenn be most remembered?

Fatal Attraction. She was [italic]iconic.[/italic] Every straight man in America was scared shitless after seeing that.

So were pet rabbits, r1!

She probably wabts it to be Norma, but she was so OTT in the 90s that she had to tone it down when she reprised it a few years ago. If her original take was so good, that wouldn't have been necessary.

Fatal Attraction...no contest!!! Cruella DeVil might be a distant 2nd...and nobody, I mean NOBODY would say she's had a role in the past 20 years that would be a contender (despite 3 Oscar nominations during that timeframe).

That's why she wants to do the Sunset film. They could use her old vocals and with thr right set and support cast, make her look like a movie musical queen (neither she nor Meryl are, sorry ladies).

A 90 year old, balding Norma Desmond who sings like a dying frog? Hard pass.

by Anonymousreply 8July 21, 2021 1:20 AM

Yes, but Patti’s signature role was 40 years ago, which is at least as depressing.

I don't understand the question.

What an ugly expression! And what an ugly display!

A 60 year old woman exercising her intestinal muscles in public!

by Anonymousreply 21July 21, 2021 11:44 PM

It was a colossal spectacle, and a horrendous embarrassment.

by Anonymousreply 22July 22, 2021 2:57 AM

Poor Glenn thought she could reverse five decades of slavery horror with five minutes of self-humiliation.
