I am usually anti-cancelling anyone, but her mother ought to be cancelled for giving that poor girl that name. Maybe that's why she needs weed and is hateful.

by Anonymousreply 2July 3, 2021 12:11 AM

She mentioned a gf in her interviews.

by Anonymousreply 3July 3, 2021 12:19 AM

Fuck her ignorant ass.

by Anonymousreply 4July 3, 2021 12:23 AM

this is cultural.... and also true. finding the words to explain it or rationalize the contradiction.... perhaps QUEEN LATIFAH — if she wants to do some good — could help Sha'Carri

Her handlers are shitting bricks because of two questions Dallas Voice posed to Latifah regarding an interview in the September 2007 issue of Glamour magazine, which features her royal highness on the cover. Not only is she an undeniable super-talent, Latifah is a Cover Girl spokesperson who has revolutionized cultural perceptions. She’s a big-boned ebony seductress who vacillates between butch and glam while every entertainment industry kisses her luscious ass: music, movies, fashion. And she’s a lesbian icon — who’s as out as Jodie Foster. But any interviewer who asks Queen Latifah if she’s gay always gets the same answer: that her personal life is personal. Latifah also says questions about her sexuality are “insulting.” If rumors are billowing around Queen Latifah, she’s helped fan the flames. In “Chicago,” Latifah’s turn as a lesbian warden was so convincing that she got an Oscar nod. And at the “Hairspray” premiere, Latifah’s red-carpet date was Jeanette Jenkins, her longtime personal trainer. Latifah’s rattling closet is addressed in the Glamour interview. But she thinks the rumors are trying to “bring her down.” However, that’s not all. “The gay thing hasn’t messed up my appeal to the gentlemen, because I have never had any problems meeting men. Maybe they get turned on by the idea of that!” Latifah said. If that wasn’t enough for lesbians to start burning their iPods, Latifah was asked about her opinions on gay marriage. “I don’t think that it should be called marriage. But the idea of it is the same, and you should have the same quality of rights that a married person has. People think of marriage as something that is between a man and a women, because it was created by God. Well, let God handle the judgment, too. You stay out of it.”

She - and the other “hammer-thrower-I’m-protesting the Olympics” - come across as Ignorant America Personified.

Embarrassing for them to represent the US.

by Anonymousreply 6July 3, 2021 12:40 AM

I honestly don't understand why people who are entering any kind of public spotlight don't scrub their damn social media of anything remotely offensive or questionable.

I didn't even realize how young she is so the old tweets just come off as a dumbass teenager saying stupid shit online. Though I'm guessing the Lil Nas X tweet from a couple of months ago means she has to be one of those Christians deeply hurt by the satan lapdance video and shoes. Lol, whatever girl.

If the rule is that you can't smoke weed, then you can't smoke weed. All elite athletes know this. Whether it's a fair rule is a different matter.

I don't understand the hammer thrower. I 100% support BLM and protests of the national anthem at sports events. If she wants to do this, then fine. But what's the message? The black power salute in 1968 was powerful and intelligible. What she did was not. And her makeup made her look like a fool.

by Anonymousreply 16July 3, 2021 1:40 AM

What a bitch! Cancel her pothead ass !!

by Anonymousreply 17July 3, 2021 1:45 AM

Silly girl

by Anonymousreply 18July 3, 2021 1:52 AM

Yep. Cancel the ghetto trash bitch.

You know damn well Black people would be crying and wanting a white athlete cancelled if they got caught using the n-word so fair is fair.

by Anonymousreply 19July 3, 2021 1:55 AM

by Anonymousreply 21July 3, 2021 1:58 AM

R5 Wow I never knew King Latifah said that! Wow, some of these people have serious self-hate issues.

by Anonymousreply 22July 3, 2021 1:59 AM

So when is she going to be taken to task for these comments? Or do Black people get a pass at EVERYTHING now and don’t have to be held accountable?

by Anonymousreply 23July 3, 2021 2:00 AM

When did Olympic athletes start looking like hookers? They're going to have to start imposing some dress codes next. Those fake eyelashes and claw-like nails have to go, not to mention the weird face paint the hammer-throwing twat was sporting. JFC.

by Anonymousreply 24July 3, 2021 2:01 AM

If I repeated the words in the second tweet in the OP's link this thread would be closed in 5 minutes.

by Anonymousreply 25July 3, 2021 2:05 AM

These tweets were three months old, so let's see her trot out the "evolved" bullshit.

by Anonymousreply 30July 3, 2021 2:26 AM

So she can’t smoke weed but a white man can pretend to be a woman in order to take away a slot from an actual woman.

Cancel the fucking Olympics and all non-black races along with them.

by Anonymousreply 31July 3, 2021 2:28 AM

Whites are collectively to blame for homophobia. Blacks and other nonwhite races who attack gays do so in order to curry favor with the white supremacists they desperately pander to with the hopes of being accepted by them and considered one of them.

Homophobia is white supremacy. Whites invented it. Whites made it into a lifestyle. Whites used it to turn other races against gay people to divide and conquer. Blame them and them alone.

by Anonymousreply 32July 3, 2021 2:30 AM

We care about her clear and recent homophobia, not her race nor her need for pot.

by Anonymousreply 33July 3, 2021 2:30 AM

DL does know she's family right?

by Anonymousreply 34July 3, 2021 2:31 AM

Must she look and act so common and vulgar? Did ANYONE at any level of sport tell her to class it up? This is a worldwide event and I know it does not mean anything anymore but she is representing the US, otherwise why run at all? Now the narrative is every black woman is being victimized. Enough already.

by Anonymousreply 35July 3, 2021 2:32 AM

“Black homophobe” is just another racial slur yts invented to project their bigotry onto Blacks.

by Anonymousreply 36July 3, 2021 2:32 AM

Which race has done the most to try and exterminate homosexuals? Which race started the holocaust?

No, standing in opposition to what amounts to modern-day buckbreaking is not homophobic.

by Anonymousreply 40July 3, 2021 2:44 AM

So our side, their side, addiction to grievance. Our culture leaks.

Her tweets are inexcusable - black norms, it doesn't matter. Shame on her. But smoking pot should not disqualify her. We need to start walking and chewing gum at the same time and not flattening everything down to an opinion in social media that confirms an "us" against "them"

This is the same Olympic committee that let an old, rich white man compete on the women's weightlifting team.

Give us a break.

by Anonymousreply 51July 3, 2021 2:56 AM

A whole lotta people on Twitter seem to be equating black people with marijuana usage, which seems rather uncomfortable.

by Anonymousreply 52July 3, 2021 3:01 AM

I'm really rolling my eyes and laughing at the people on Twitter dragging Michael Phelps into their outrage and making this about white privilege vs the hatred of black women. In actuality the circumstances surrounding Phelps' suspension was pretty damn different than Richardson and her punishment is not even that severe. I mean I don't really agree with suspension over a little weed but it is what it is. It sucks but hopefully she can run the relay or whatever.

Also I can't with the people who do not seem to realize America does not own the Olympics - Jesus Christ so fucking stupid.

by Anonymousreply 53July 3, 2021 3:06 AM

Wait, what can Biden or the US do? What the fuck are they talking about???

by Anonymousreply 71July 3, 2021 10:24 AM

Sorry but they are delusional.

The IOC was the one who disqualified Andreea Raducan after winning gold on the atroucious (they messed up with the vault height and made a lot of gymnast fall, including big favourite Svetlana Khorkhina) AA competition at Sydney. And they only disqualified her for the AA competition, because her doctor gave her a pill with a substance that was not on the banned list only one year later.

Gervasio Deferr lost some medals for smoking pot on european championships.

She knew she could not smoke weed and she did. If someone is to blame is herself for being stupid.

by Anonymousreply 72July 3, 2021 10:46 AM

Does "Sha'Carri" have a meaning in any African language?

Once her athletic ability is gone (and it will be greatly diminished I f she smokes), she’ll be forgotten. Maybe she can strip or turn tricks.

by Anonymousreply 75July 3, 2021 12:05 PM

Who cares about the weed issue? This thread is about the fact that she should be cancelled for homophobic tweets. Period.

Woke is ultimately self defeating, as woke eat woke.

by Anonymousreply 76July 3, 2021 2:04 PM

I care about the weed issue. I care about the hypocrisy of expelling athletes for consuming a fucking herb that has shown to be harmless countless times. Especially since the IOC was overrun by fascists decades ago.

by Anonymousreply 77July 3, 2021 2:12 PM

Being cancelled for being homophobic when she herself is a lesbian it's kind of ironic

R77 She knew the rules, it's her fault what happened to her

by Anonymousreply 78July 3, 2021 2:14 PM

She acts like somebody dumped a bucket of pig blood on her.

by Anonymousreply 79July 3, 2021 2:17 PM

She also blamed Rihanna for the Chris Brown "incident" in a 2019 tweet.

She may be a fast runner, but this young lady is a hot mess.

It's so weird. My so-called "woke" friends have been blowing up my timeline with love and praise for her for the past couple of weeks.

I wonder if they'll even acknowledge this side of her at all.

R80, veteran actress Loretta Devine also defended Chris Brown, so Richardson is hardly the first.

Devine's exact words: [quote] “Well love is love, you know? And he wasn’t the first one to hit somebody. Uh oh, I’m in trouble now…Well they acted like he was the first man to hit somebody.”

by Anonymousreply 81July 3, 2021 2:57 PM

If this bitch was from any other country, nobody would be defending her. Americans are the most entitled people on the planet.

by Anonymousreply 82July 3, 2021 8:16 PM

I usually defend AOC on here but she just needs to shut the fuck up. So does Seth Rogan. Just shut up. Whether we think the rule is stupid or not, it's the rule. Even the snowboarder kids lay off pot long enough to compete.

by Anonymousreply 83July 3, 2021 8:28 PM

One major reason pot isn't permissible in Olympic sport is the potential danger being high can cause to SOME athletes in certain competitions.

Slower reaction time? Dopamine release? Impaired judgement? Imagine if you're a freestyle aerial skier? Or a mogul skier?

by Anonymousreply 84July 3, 2021 8:52 PM

Is she trans?? Because she looks like a dude with a wig and claw-fingers.

by Anonymousreply 85July 3, 2021 8:55 PM

I consider pot performance enhancing, for me, I mean. I ran better, worked out stronger, and didn't feel the burn. It also made me want to get off the couch, get out of the apt., and get to the fuckin gym. I miss pot.

by Anonymousreply 86July 3, 2021 9:20 PM

I am really baffled at these fools that think the U.S. can do anything? The IOC is a private entity? Their rules.

Not saying I agree with them, but I thought private entities can do whatever they want?

But my goodness, if you say anything homophobic, they will have full on meltdowns and go on as though they are the ultimate Victims. They are full of shit from the word go.

Being gay gives white gays victimhood. Take the word gay away and they lose that " minority" status they so desperately want, Eventhough gay white men are not minorities. They're white men who happen to be gay.

The legality of weed in certain US states isn't even the issue here . It's a prohibited substance on the WADA list . And she competed and then tested positive for it and subsequently got banned for a month . Her problem is that the competition where she was tested was the Olympic trial and now she got retroactively disqualified .

by Anonymousreply 110July 4, 2021 1:16 AM

True, people are idiots. It isnt the legality of weed that is in question. After all, some athletes get exemptions for adhd meds which are also banned substances. She isnt supposed to have any banned substance on her unless she gets it cleared with the authroties. Talk about entitlement. Anyway, she will probably lose to the Jamaicans anyway. This internet outrage is how stupid americans are and how they think the world centers on them.

by Anonymousreply 111July 4, 2021 1:26 AM

People have left refugee camps after war torn countries killed their family to come to the Olympics—-they drug tested and avoided substances for the opportunity of a lifetime. An American Elite athlete no matter the personal tragedy or background should know the IOC is not New York or Massachusetts or California. The world is not America -contrary to how most Americans think.

Im sorry i know the woke want this to be something but she broke the rules knowingly and thought she could get out of it with sympathy.

Losing a parent is horrible but this isnt the UCLA office of accommodations ——this is the international olympics. There is no sympathy for rule breaking.

I hate rules and I hate anti weed nuts and yet I agree with the Olympics here. Being black and queer and having lost a parent means nothing on the world stage. Black Americans forget there’s an entire continent of Black people on the global stage who many have faced civil war, famine, poverty and more and still follow the rules to compete……..

by Anonymousreply 112July 4, 2021 1:27 AM

Why do we always act shocked when a black celebrity ends up being homophobic (against gay men, because despite how the LGBT conversation is being deliberately steered away from them gay men are still the most discriminated against queer group). Homophobia is so engrained in the black community that it should basically just be assumed that every black personality who isn't a gay man themselves is homophobic.

Call that racist if you want, but I'm tired of having to act surprised every time a black celebrity is "revealed" to hate gay men. It's happened too many times at this point to deny the pattern.

by Anonymousreply 113July 4, 2021 2:26 AM

And yet people still want gay men to believe that lesbians don't hate them and that WE are in fact the hateful ones. I'm so tired of gay men being expected to shrug off all the hate we get, because you know DAMN well that if it had been a gay male athlete with old social media posts saying something offensive about lesbians people would be crying for his head on a spike. But of course, since it's homophobia nobody cares.

by Anonymousreply 114July 4, 2021 2:31 AM

These things will really cut into her endor$ement opportunities. She'll win medals and everyone will clap, but Wheaties* will not be calling.

by Anonymousreply 115July 4, 2021 2:41 AM

I can't believe people are making excuses for this piece of trash and her homophobic remarks. This proves gays and lesbians are at the bottom of the pile. Anyone else, black, Asian, tranny- this bitch would have been canceled within an inch of her life. But not the gays. They're deserving of scorn and derision.

by Anonymousreply 116July 4, 2021 2:57 AM

[quote] I can't believe people are making excuses for this piece of trash and her homophobic remarks.

If they'll do it for Joy Reid why not this bitch too?

by Anonymousreply 117July 4, 2021 3:17 AM

Will the Karen cunt who tweeted about "gay white men" show the same understanding if a white athlete had tweeted something horrible about blacks and there had been an uproar? Would the bitch have written that the only people upset were black people and then asked them to give the athlete time to learn?

The excuse that S'C is young and still learning is bullshit. People her age are busy screaming out their opinions about every issue on social media all day and we are expected to take them seriously in all those instances but she is suddenly "young and still learning" just when it comes to this?

This sounds like the "a 6-year-old child is old enough to know that he wants to transition and take puberty blockers but a 14-year-old who did that and regrets it and wants to reverse the transition is too young and ignorant to make these decisions" arguments from the trans lobby.

I can not smoke weed and keep the job.

I can smoke weed and lose that job (to an alternate who has chosen to follow the rules).

I find funny the outrage of some people on twitter because the old Sha`Carry tweet refurface because they are the same people that will be up in arms if it was a white NFL player who made racist comments at 12.

The IOC couldn't care less about twitter outrage and she is not that big to even put pressure on them

by Anonymousreply 121July 4, 2021 10:36 AM

Ironically she'll lose to women from Jamaica, where ganja is, like, the national dish.

by Anonymousreply 122July 4, 2021 12:30 PM

I think Sha'Carri is a very talented, impressive woman. I also recognize that all of the praise she's getting has nothing to do with her talent and everything to do with the color of her skin. She's being made into a symbol, which is why everybody is talking about her. If she was white but had the same level of talent as an athlete people wouldn't be talking about her like this.

by Anonymousreply 123July 4, 2021 1:35 PM

But i could understand her being a symbol for being an amazing athlete (she will be very far from being the first amazing black athlete anyway) but they are making her a symbol just for being an idiot

by Anonymousreply 124July 4, 2021 1:43 PM

R124 She was a symbol before the weed thing came out. Everyone was like "Oh My God look how impressive this BLACK WOMAN runner is!"

Her being made into a symbol has nothing to do with the weed. From the very start, her talent was taking a back seat to her race. This happened to other black female athletes before her, Gabby Douglas and Simone Biles are the most recent and known examples.

A lot of people only root for Sha'Carri because of the color of her skin. I don't think she should be disqualified or punished for the weed thing, but I do think that if she was white the public wouldn't be rallying behind her over it the way that they are.

by Anonymousreply 125July 4, 2021 1:49 PM

R121, "old tweets", really? Those tweets are from March. Less than 4 months ago!

by Anonymousreply 126July 4, 2021 1:53 PM

But that doesn't make sense at all.

Sorry, but Gabby Douglas was the first black gymnast to win olympic gold (and there were very few pioneers Dominique Dawes) and Simone Biles was the first black world champion and she is the best gymnast ever (at least the best under the new code).

There were a lot of amazing track and field black athletes before, from Florence Griffith Joyner to Gail Devers, she is far from being the first or the better

by Anonymousreply 127July 4, 2021 1:54 PM

R122 - “ironically she’ll lose to a woman from Jamaica, where like ganja is their local dish.”

Probably, sure. But I bet that winner from Jamaica doesn’t knowingly break Olympic rules by smoking it.

by Anonymousreply 128July 4, 2021 1:54 PM

But she might be the most homophobic one.

by Anonymousreply 129July 4, 2021 1:55 PM

R129 I dout it, there are plenty examples of homophobic people on sports.

Maybe the most homophobic lesbian

by Anonymousreply 130July 4, 2021 1:56 PM

R127 It doesn't matter if it makes sense, they turn who they want into symbols.

by Anonymousreply 131July 4, 2021 1:56 PM

She should be cancelled. In the name of wokeness.

by Anonymousreply 132July 4, 2021 1:58 PM

R132 Black people can not be cancelled. You can tarnish their reputations but they aren't actually held accountable for doing bad things in the way white people are. Much less for homophobia, since black straight people rank higher in the imaginary oppression pyramid than gay people do.

by Anonymousreply 133July 4, 2021 2:17 PM

So you're saying they've got some sort of immunity?

by Anonymousreply 134July 4, 2021 2:21 PM

R134 Yes, I am. The only black person who's ever been ACTUALLY cancelled is Janet Jackson. It's a shame we as a society don't respond to homophobia the same way we respond to showing your nipple on television.

by Anonymousreply 135July 4, 2021 2:33 PM

Let's be clear, noboy is cancelled for homophobia unless gays are their main fans.

In this case, being a lesbian i'm pretty sure they could find a lot of reasons for her words.

And unfortunately i think her oppinion about Chris Brown is pretty common among black women (which explains a lot) but Chris was not only not cancelled back in the day, he was not even punished. Adam Lambert was treated like shit for kissing a guy and the same station had no problem with interviewing Chris Brown

by Anonymousreply 136July 4, 2021 2:34 PM

Yeah, right r135

by Anonymousreply 137July 4, 2021 3:09 PM

R139, nobody lives in a monolith.

“Black people are not a monolith” is probably what you meant.

by Anonymousreply 146July 5, 2021 4:19 PM

Monolith this, monolith that, give me a fucking break. If 100 of a certain kind of person are in a room, and 99 of that certain kind of person holds an opinion while the 1 disagrees with it, then it's not jumping to conclusions to say that the certain kind of person holds a certain opinion.

One black person not liking Cosby or R. Kelly does not mean that the majority of the black community community isn't rallying behind them.

by Anonymousreply 147July 5, 2021 10:43 PM

I have no idea what that poster meant, but I do know that black people are their own worst enemy

I knew when George Floyd was murdered and that BLM had absolutely no goals and just wanted to protest and riot/loot, that they would end up turning off white people, one by one

by Anonymousreply 160July 7, 2021 6:29 PM

[quote] I think Sha'Carri is a very talented, impressive woman.

Really r123? To me, the revelation at the trials was Gabby Thomas - Harvard graduate in Neurobiology, going for her masters at UTA, now 2nd fastest all-time at 200m after having a tumor removed. Now, she is someone I would consider to be talented and impressive. Hell, Sydney McLaughlin set a WR, Athing Mu is the 2nd fastest American woman at 800m (and only 19), Deanna Price is now 2nd all-time in the hammer throw, and I could go on.

As a long time track and field fan, I loathe the fact SCR has taken all of the attention away from what is shaping up to be one of the strongest and most talented Oly teams I have seen in ages. Not to mention the strong possibility of World and/or Olympic records falling in more events than I can recall. At this point, I wish she would go away until next year’s US nationals.

by Anonymousreply 161July 7, 2021 7:27 PM

[quote]At this point, I wish she would go away until next year’s US nationals.

That would be the gracious thing to do. But that's not what she's here for, is it?

by Anonymousreply 162July 7, 2021 7:34 PM

In that case r162, she can keep running her mouth do some post-Olympic Diamond Leagues and get her ass spanked by Shericka Jackson or Elaine Thompson (I think SAFP will fully hang up her spikes post Oly-games).

by Anonymousreply 163July 7, 2021 8:02 PM

After reading through the Twitter comments posted in response Gabby's tweet about why blacks should not boycott the Olympics it's clear that some people simply cannot get out of their own way. Gabby makes perfect, rational sense while many people replied with ignorant shit like refusing to support a country that doesn't support them...All in response to an athlete who disregarded sponsors, supporters, teammates & rules just to get high. Never mind that black females dominate in this sport, black females who don't fuck it up by giving & receiving the respect they should give & deserve in return. Yea, some people simply do not & will never get it. And these are these are the fuckers who typically make the most noise about unfairness & "living in a country that doesn't support them".

by Anonymousreply 164July 7, 2021 8:36 PM

R163 is right. She wasn't even a lock for gold at the Olympics. She would probably have had her ass kicked given the Jamaican team has 3 women at her level. The American MSM was acting like Elaine Thompson, Shericka Jackson and. especially, SAFP (who always brings it when it matters) don't exist. The Jamaicans could quite as easily have gone 1-2-3. I think the ban saved and gives her more time to build and bask in her celebrity.

But I'll give her this: the sport of track & field hasn't had anyone with this much mainstream star power since Usain Bolt retired. If she matches it on the field, she could be his replacement as the face of the sport. This is stunning when you think about it because tennis is the only other sport that allows women to be on a par with, and in cases like Serena, sometimes eclipse the men.

by Anonymousreply 165July 8, 2021 3:04 AM

Here's the tweet r164 is talking about. I think when the Olympics start, with the usual fanfare and wall-to-wall coverage by NBC, they'll be hard to ignore. They'll watch. The world is starved of a big sporting festival and the Super Bowl, European soccer championships and NBA finals aren't big enough.

R165 Track yes , Field had Mondo Duplantis . It's funny because those two actually started at LSU at the same time .

by Anonymousreply 167July 8, 2021 12:54 PM

R167 Field still HAS Mondo. He hasn’t gone anywhere.

R165 I think that if Gabby Thomas were sponsored by Nike, after the time she ran she would be the athlete being heavily pushed. Nothing against New Balance, but they just don’t have the marketing arm of a Nike.

Time will tell if SCR can become the “face” of Track and Field. I would say no, because she doesn’t have that endearing quality of a Usain Bolt or even a FloJo and she doesn’t have the credentials to get away with the imperiousness of a Carl Lewis.

by Anonymousreply 168July 8, 2021 2:28 PM

[quote] she doesn’t have that endearing quality of a Usain Bolt or even a FloJo

I never liked FloJo. I always found her sister-in-law Jackie Joyner Kersee more endearing.

by Anonymousreply 169July 8, 2021 2:52 PM

Nobody will be talking about this pothead in a few months.

by Anonymousreply 170July 8, 2021 3:13 PM

R169 JJK was my favorite athlete growing up. The reason I wrote “even a FloJo” is that while considered flashy, she did have a humility which seemed to charm people. And yes, Jackie Joyner-Kersee was quite endearing.

by Anonymousreply 171July 8, 2021 3:29 PM

JJK was my favorite too, R171. She was a real inspiration and I loved how professional, no-nonsense and dedicated she was. I still love her and Evelyn Ashford. Ashford is sadly quite overlooked in spite of being one of the greatest sprinters the US has ever produced.

by Anonymousreply 172July 8, 2021 4:04 PM

News flash: jocks are boring at best, violent murderers at worst.

by Anonymousreply 173July 8, 2021 4:24 PM

r168 Noah Lyles has the charisma but I think the 200m isn't as high profile as the 100m. He takes too long to reach his top-end speed so he can't dominate the 100m. He should train for the 400m and double if he wants to step in Bolt's shoes. Gabby has the same problem.

by Anonymousreply 174July 8, 2021 4:25 PM

R174, I’m not sure what happened over the last year, but I thought Noah Lyles would have made the 100 Oly Team. He has run the fastest 200m time this year, but still looks kinda rusty. The potential 200/400 guy isn’t Noah, it’s Michael Norman (who is also running inconsistently).

You’re right, Gabby will need to double to maximize her potential “star power”. At least she is now part of the 4x100 relay team (if the games even happen).

White House to push for rethink on cannabis use in sports:

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 181July 10, 2021 2:41 AM

R181 Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s not up to the White House, is it? Isn’t it up to the Olympics board (which is worldwide)?

by Anonymousreply 182July 10, 2021 2:44 AM

Yeah, so it was a bit confusing to me at first R182, but it sounds like the US wants to talk to the World Anti-Doping Agency, which is an international agency about their cannabis policy. So you're right.

I can't see how this will work - I know the US has problems seeing it sometimes, but they are not the world. I assume WADA has to have these rules in part for consistency across the globe? There's a whole heap of substances that athletes the world over aren't allowed to have in their body, not just cannabis.

by Anonymousreply 183July 10, 2021 2:53 AM

I wasn’t paying much attention to this woman’s case. Thanks to whoever started this thread about her contempt for Lil Nas. Love her now.

by Anonymousreply 184July 10, 2021 3:08 AM

Why?

by Anonymousreply 185July 10, 2021 3:08 AM

Wishing someone be dead because they are gay. That's what she wrote. On Twitter.

by Anonymousreply 186July 10, 2021 3:09 AM

According to this Vice article, the U.S. is to blame for her ban from the olympics.

Well actually it's a little more complicated than this clickbait headline but essentially WADA's ban on cannabis is largely influenced by research from the U.S. government.

by Anonymousreply 188July 10, 2021 3:39 AM

Trashy woman who will get beaten by Jamaicans anyway. I wish they just let her in so that she can lose, shut up and go away. But now, she will keep on running her mouth and will have all the excuses in the world. There are many other way more marketable, driven and outstanding black athletes who arent dumb enough to smoke weed when they are about to be tested in an olympic year. Media is always picking the worst ones as role models which is why everybody else rolls their eyes. This woman cant even articulate a clear thought in her twitter.

US is singing a different tune regarding drugs now with this non-case to pacify the silly delusional wokesters, but then they cry foul when the russians and chinese are doing it.

by Anonymousreply 189July 10, 2021 4:00 AM

R51, the Olympic Committee has nothing to do with this, it was US Track and Field, following world doping guidelines. Similarly, the Olympic Committee doesn't decide who participates in women's weight lifting but the rules of the sport.

by Anonymousreply 196July 15, 2021 12:30 PM

This gets into a slippery slope for censorship.

I can hate her for her thoughts but should that keep her off the team? No.

If you can keep someone off the team for what I consider their hateful or ignorant prejudices then why can't you keep someone off the team for being disrespectful and hateful to the country you represent and turning your back on the flag?

I supported Tommie Smith and John Carlos' right to state their political beliefs in 1968.

Free speech and free thought are not always easy to swallow.

by Anonymousreply 197July 15, 2021 12:36 PM

R197, she's not being kept off the team because of her thoughts but because she violated WADA doping rules.

by Anonymousreply 204July 15, 2021 1:24 PM

Why is her Olympics even in the conversation. In the barely understandable interview, she takes responsibility for the weed usage. She probably doesn't want to go to Tokyo because it's ridden with Covid. She is young enough to go the following games. She found out about her mother's death and made the choice.

So why are people trying to force the committee to let her go. She had moved on already. She really needs a PR team and vocal coach cuz now she is famous where before she was just that ghetto looking girl going.

by Anonymousreply 205July 15, 2021 1:24 PM

[quote] [R197], she's not being kept off the team because of her thoughts but because she violated WADA doping rules.

I know that but this thread is now suggesting that it's okay she's off the team or not going to be in the Olympics because she made homophobic remarks.

That's the whole point of the thread - see, don't cry for her, DL, because she said this.

At least that's how I see it.

by Anonymousreply 206July 15, 2021 1:29 PM

r193, is so accurate.

by Anonymousreply 207July 15, 2021 1:31 PM

by Anonymousreply 208July 15, 2021 1:33 PM

R208, I just looked it up and while the Lil Nas X tweet was in March of this year, the homophobic tweet was from August 17, 2015. She's 21 now so she would have been 15 then. I'm still thinking she was probably closeted when she wrote that one.

by Anonymousreply 209July 15, 2021 1:42 PM

I disagree r199, the White House does care about the US stacking up as many medals as possible. Every government wants as big a haul of medals as it can get.

by Anonymousreply 210July 15, 2021 1:47 PM

r210, but she is far off from getting one based on college records. That one clip mentions all the Jamaican women that have faster times in the 100 than she does.

by Anonymousreply 211July 15, 2021 1:51 PM

R210, I don’t doubt that for a second, but does it even matter?

We’re not supposed to have national pride because we live in such a fascist shithole of systemic racism, right? An American flag on your property means you’re a Trumper. America being Number One isn’t anything to be proud of anymore.

This cunt doesn’t care about representing our country, anyway. She doesn’t want to be the best at anything. She’s self-loathing.

Regardless, every government takes a stand for its disqualified athletes. Richardson wasn't even taking performance-enhancing substances, just recreational cannabis. Although, the US had in the past been one of the biggest advocates for banning cannabis.

by Anonymousreply 214July 15, 2021 2:07 PM

by Anonymousreply 218July 15, 2021 5:52 PM

R218 Why not? USA have a strong team, but they are not the favourites for the 100m and they wouldn't be even if Sha'Carry was there.

She made a stupid mistake, fortunately for her she is young enough to make this be forgotten really soon (specially if she avoids being homophobic on twitter )

by Anonymousreply 219July 15, 2021 7:56 PM

Ok let's not dance around it. She is or was publicly homophobic, but people are defending her for she's black.

A white person with this type of homophobic tweet would have been cancelled right away.

It's that simple. And you all know it. Now you can talk about the merits of the weed rule, or how gifted she might be, or Jamaicans vs her, but that's just deflection.

by Anonymousreply 220July 15, 2021 11:53 PM

The clip at r193 really breaks down everything you need to know and would've made this thread shorter.

by Anonymousreply 221July 16, 2021 3:21 AM

R221, how, when the thread is about a homophobic tweet that she wrote when she was 15-years-old?

by Anonymousreply 222July 16, 2021 3:27 AM

[quote] You're not supporting free speech. You're supporting GAY HATE. And your a fool for not being able to distinguish between the two. How self loathing are you?

R200, free speech is too hard a concept for you to grasp I see. Yes, it can be ugly but it's preferable to censorship or compelled speech.

by Anonymousreply 223July 16, 2021 3:55 AM

R223, she can say whatever she wants, but there are consequences for it.

Maybe one day you will learn that. The rest of us learned that by the age of 8

You can support gay haters and people who help to persecute gay people all you want. That is your right

by Anonymousreply 224July 16, 2021 4:05 AM

R224, First Principles not in your wheelhouse obviously. Not everyone lives their life according to their feels. Many live by principles.

When you evolve further you may understand this.

by Anonymousreply 225July 16, 2021 6:43 AM

[quote] She should have been disqualified for her eyelashes alone.

R27 Exactly, Gurl, what were you thinking

by Anonymousreply 226July 16, 2021 7:02 AM

No mention of the NAILS? They are enormous.

by Anonymousreply 227July 16, 2021 7:04 AM

R224, she's in a relationship with another woman.

by Anonymousreply 228July 16, 2021 10:38 AM

[quote] A white person with this type of homophobic tweet would have been cancelled right away.

If a white athlete had tweeted the n-word slur when they were a teenager, AOC and the rest of Trash Carry's supporters would have demanded that the athlete be banned for life. Sha'Carri should have to face the same consequences.

The woke mobs can't sweep homophobic bigotry under the rug while constantly talking about racism against black people as though that, Islamophobia and transphobia are the only kinds of bigotry that exist and are worthy of condemnation.

by Anonymousreply 229July 16, 2021 3:36 PM

Wait, why do you say when she was a teenager? I thought that one of the tweets was from March this year.

by Anonymousreply 230July 16, 2021 4:24 PM

R230 That's because one of the tweets is from march, but her defenders say she was not attacking Lil Nas X for being gay but for his satanic shoes controversy

by Anonymousreply 231July 16, 2021 6:54 PM

[quote]If a white athlete had tweeted the n-word slur when they were a teenager,

The N word is race based. Calling someone a fag is sexuality/homophobia based.

And Sha'Carri herself is a LESBIAN.

That's an important distinction here because, like many gay people, Sha'Carri likely grew up in an environment where she was taught to hate herself.

The other important distinction is that this situation took place when she was a teenager. No one would launch a campaign against her off Twitter because of that. They'd probably stay out of it entirely. Someone might bring up homophobia in the black community. She'll say she's grown as a person.

People aren't entirely without sense. The argument, "She was 15 and closeted" applies here and it would be made over and over again.

As for her Lil Nas X tweet, him referencing Satanic imagery and signing shoes in blood is something that most people can understand that someone religious would be offended by. The kids on Twitter might be upset about that or think she meant something different but at the end of the day her opinion isn't that different than even some other gay people.

[quote]Why tf is this woman’s weed gate of any importance to the White House?

We live in a country where recreational cannabis use is creeping towards national legalization while it is also just fine in several states.

It will have to be addressed at some point. As someone else said, the USA isn't the world but we are part of it.

And I'm with Biden when he said, when asked, that rules are rules but maybe they should be changed.

by Anonymousreply 232July 16, 2021 7:14 PM

The rules are not just about recreational use in the US. It's more involved than that and not understanding that makes the Biden administration stupid.

by Anonymousreply 233July 16, 2021 8:58 PM

The horrid grammar and spelling are the real crimes.

by Anonymousreply 234July 16, 2021 11:08 PM

by Anonymousreply 235July 17, 2021 1:26 AM

[quote] That's an important distinction here because, like many gay people, Sha'Carri likely grew up in an environment where she was taught to hate herself.

blah, blah, blah

Here's what it all comes down to, this chick is a dumb ass. She's months/weeks away from the Olympics and she was doing all this stupid shit. She should be practicing and keeping her head down

She's going to fuck it up again and do or say some kind of stupid shit

by Anonymousreply 236July 17, 2021 4:07 AM

[quote] First Principles not in your wheelhouse obviously. Not everyone lives their life according to their feels. Many live by principles. When you evolve further you may understand this

What the are you even talking about? Get off drugs

You seem to think the first amendment means a person can say whatever they want, no one can criticize them and there shouldn't be any consequences for what they said

And once again, you are wrong. You are ignorant.

This woman can say what she wants, but there may be consequences. It's been that way, since the beginning of time

The rest of world was able to grasp that concept by the age of 8

by Anonymousreply 237July 17, 2021 4:23 AM

Poor Sha'Carri won't be making the team for the next Olympics either. This hoodrat will probably be in prison for some felony by then. On the bright side if she manages to escape from prison she can outrun the guard dogs at least for the first 200 meters or so.

by Anonymousreply 238July 17, 2021 6:49 AM

R238 = pointy hat KKK gay

by Anonymousreply 239July 17, 2021 2:35 PM

If she is smart she will learn from this situation and improve herself on the field (and on twitter)

by Anonymousreply 240July 17, 2021 6:17 PM

R237 et al, you're hilarious. Is this more of that obfuscate and detract playbook? Change the goalposts so you can win the argument?

The issue is whether making homophobic remarks makes people ok with her suspension from the team. That's the entire thrust of the thread. Before this discovery of her old tweets people were upset that she lost her chance due to weed use. Then it devolved into, no it's ok she's off cause she made homophobic attacks in the past.

THAT is the issue being discussed. I am not okay with someone being suspended from the team for hateful tweets, no matter how I personally feel about them. That is a First Principle which you are clueless about.

You're just ranting and descending to ad hominem insults that make no sense. Grow up.

by Anonymousreply 242July 17, 2021 8:40 PM

It's ok she is off the team because she make a really stupid mistake all by herself.

The hateful tweets are just an extra (and extra her fans defended her without hesitation by the way)

by Anonymousreply 243July 18, 2021 1:37 PM

All the “woke” people out there giving her a pass on homophobia and illegal drug use because she’s black. Is that really where we are at as a society? That’s not true equality.

by Anonymousreply 244July 20, 2021 12:58 AM

R244 Yep. That’s why I’m done caring about supposed race issues. We’re supposed to always fight racism, but nobody wants to help us fight homophobia. So everyone can just fight on their own.💁‍♂️

by Anonymousreply 245July 20, 2021 1:02 AM

Everyone can just fight on their own. That should be the new US national anthem...

by Anonymousreply 246July 20, 2021 4:27 AM

R54 Roxie Gay has become the gift that keeps on giving.

by Anonymousreply 247July 20, 2021 4:38 AM

She sure it, R247. Each new thing that comes out about her and her attitude just has me laughing all over again.

by Anonymousreply 248July 20, 2021 11:40 AM

^is* not "it", sorry.

by Anonymousreply 249July 20, 2021 11:41 AM

* she's homophobic

* The fact she's a lesbian doesn't change that

* She gets a pass because of her race

by Anonymousreply 250July 20, 2021 9:59 PM

The ban really is the best thing that could've happened to her. She's now one of the most famous athletes in America, all without winning a thing. She's featured in the new Beats by Dre commercial, personally scored and edited by Kanye West, featuring a song from his new album.

by Anonymousreply 251July 21, 2021 5:30 AM

I think she's now challenging Serena Williams as the country's number one female athlete. That's marketing for you.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 252July 21, 2021 10:53 AM

Sorry, but Serena is a legend and Sha'Carry is simply a promising athlete. She is not Serena, she is not Simone Biles and this kind of fame will vanish if she doesn't back it up with results

by Anonymousreply 253July 21, 2021 6:31 PM

Sha'Carri is lucky these Olympics are looking like a disaster. Let's just hope hse breaks records in track world championships then ride the hype into 2024

by Anonymousreply 254July 21, 2021 6:36 PM

When are FloJo's steroid aided world records going to be struck off the books along with those of Koch and Kratochvilova? Drug cheats, all of them.

by Anonymousreply 255July 21, 2021 9:39 PM

She looks like a troll doll.

by Anonymousreply 256July 21, 2021 11:13 PM

r253 Yes, she's not Serena or Simon Biles, she hasn't accomplished anything, But she's being treated like them. If she had gone to the Olympics and gotten beaten by the Jamaicans, that would've been the end of her.

by Anonymousreply 257July 22, 2021 2:04 AM

R255 I predict Athing Mu will take down the w800m WR and has the potential to break the 400m record too. Considering that Sydney McLaughlin just set a 51.9 WR in the 400m hurdles, she probably has the potential to break the 400m WR too.

World Athletics (IAAF) should annul the w100m 10.49 mark since it is a known wind-aided mark. The fact that they won’t is crap, that tailwind was at least 5m/s (which would make the 10.49 a 10.7x with 0.0 wind speed).

Say what you will about Koch and FloJo but their running forms were incredible.

by Anonymousreply 258July 22, 2021 7:18 AM

r259 Athing Mu is getting nowhere near that record. Even Caster Semenya couldn't. Have you seen the woman who holds it? The NYT calls it "track's most resilient (and suspect) record" for a reason. 40 years later and still no one has come close.

by Anonymousreply 259July 22, 2021 11:30 AM

R257 Maybe she is a superstar on the USA but nobody knows her outside.

Of course that's the case of most country singers and they are filthy rich anyway

by Anonymousreply 260July 22, 2021 5:46 PM

R259 Kratcho looked like a hulk, but that doesn’t mean the record is unbreakable and Pamela Jelimo came very close to breaking it in 2008. Athing is 19 and has already run a 1:56 low - if she can stay healthy, breaking 1:53.28 is a achievable goal.

Caster Semenya could have should have broken the record, but let’s be real “she” never had the best racing mechanics/strategy imo.

by Anonymousreply 261July 22, 2021 10:33 PM

Poor Evelyn Ashford. I felt she knew FloJo was cheating and that she thought everyone else knew it too but no one wanted to say it out loud. The US media harped on the allegations surrounding the East Germans, Czechoslovaks and Soviets, but not a peep about FloJo, who showed an impossible improvement in her times in less than a year, shattered world records and "peaked" just in time for the Olympics and then "retired" suddenly when the athletics bodies announced more rigorous drug testing.

Without this cheating bitch Ashford would have been a deserving two-time 100m gold medalist and Merlene Ottey could probably have won gold or at least silver in the 200m. (Heike Drechsler, who won bronze in the 200, was a known drug cheat and the Jamaican Grace Jackson, who ran a career best time in the 200 final, was suspect too.)

by Anonymousreply 262July 23, 2021 8:26 AM

The Olympics have begun, now anyone who isn't in it gets pushed to the side.

by Anonymousreply 263July 24, 2021 3:16 AM

To be fair, in my country she was in the news (only in sport magazines) for a day.

Her name is not big enough to this kind of news make a real splash outside of twitter (and more accurately USA twitter)

by Anonymousreply 264July 24, 2021 12:56 PM

Shacarri would've been run out of the medals in the final I just saw.

by Anonymousreply 265July 31, 2021 4:12 PM

I don’t miss her. She seems to be a bit of a prima Donna.

by Anonymousreply 266July 31, 2021 4:16 PM

All the attention is on Simone Biles. Nobody even remembers Sha’Nasti.

by Anonymousreply 267July 31, 2021 5:09 PM

R266 She lacks humility . She's fast and has all the ingredience for a great career but she's also arrogant about it and is definitely immature which isn't a great combination .

by Anonymousreply 268July 31, 2021 6:24 PM

So long as we don’t have to see her wearing her troll-doll lacefront, I’m happy.

by Anonymousreply 269July 31, 2021 6:36 PM

R267 I think Biles story is so big because she is already a legend. It's not that she was unable to face the pressure, she faced the pressure multiple times in the past, so that make an interesting story and it's all over the place.

Sha'Carry story maybe was big in the USA but in the rest of the world nobody cared because she is not a big name

by Anonymousreply 270July 31, 2021 6:42 PM

Jamaica sweep happened. Those girls ran a faster time than Sha'carri's PB. She would have been embarrased

by Anonymousreply 271July 31, 2021 6:43 PM

But she would have looked wonderfully vulgar doing it, R271.

by Anonymousreply 272July 31, 2021 6:50 PM

Sha'Carri needs to put down the bong and go on the Flo Jo training regimen.

by Anonymousreply 273July 31, 2021 7:02 PM

She would have been a nobody and forgotten if she actually competed. But now we are going to be subjected to another couple of years of hype, as if there is an asterisk on these olympics. She might physically have a chance, but her mental game and maturity is really not there. She is an arrogant entitled american stereotype, but nothing to show for it.

by Anonymousreply 274August 1, 2021 12:39 PM

Maybe in the USA, the rest of the world will be inmune to that phenomenom

by Anonymousreply 275August 1, 2021 12:58 PM

This cunt was tweeting "Missing me yet?" in the last two days. No, bitch. The Jamaicans earned a well-deserved sweep of the medals while your homophobic ass was at home throwing shade and smoking a joint.

by Anonymousreply 276August 1, 2021 4:24 PM

I saw a young girl with exaggerated false eyelashes like Sha'Carri. Why?

by Anonymousreply 277August 2, 2021 11:16 PM

Sha'Carri is gutter trash.

by Anonymousreply 278August 2, 2021 11:26 PM

The hypocrisy of her being homophobic....

by Anonymousreply 279August 2, 2021 11:33 PM

HUMBLED

by Anonymousreply 280August 21, 2021 10:41 PM

And Lil Nas X’s dumbass is still being nice to her.
