My main knowledge of Thailand is sometimes brutal or ruthless military coups as reported in the world news. I started referring to it as "CoupLite" to concerned family and friends in the U.S. You would have to be actively involved in a protest to suffer consequences, which did happen in Bangkok to Thai people. (I lived in the north)I felt so sorry for the students who just want a stable democracy. On the other hand, many Thais don't mind the military government.
