Willow Smith performed her new single on The Tonight Show

And dare I say it was actually pretty good? It’s with Travis Barker.

Also, she looks prettier now!

Hmmm, she may be an interesting artist if she stays on this route.

No one cares.

by Anonymousreply 1May 21, 2021 2:53 AM

Everybody is already sick of all 3 of the Smith children. It's too much.

PR Poodle Post Alert! Abort! Abort! Abort!

by Anonymousreply 3May 21, 2021 2:54 AM

Their mother ruined their careers before they even got started. Then Jayden ruined what was left of his on his own.

by Anonymousreply 4May 21, 2021 2:55 AM

This thread will wear the willow.

by Anonymousreply 5May 21, 2021 2:58 AM

The song is actually decent. Her voice suits that fem-punk rock meets New Age Rock style.

by Anonymousreply 6May 21, 2021 2:59 AM

I still prefer the classic Whip my hair.

Jaden and Willow are both decent musical artists. The bar is so low in music now that they can easily fit into the scene.

I weep for Willow.

by Anonymousreply 9May 21, 2021 3:12 AM

The kids are creative, musically at least. They take after dad in music.

It’s interesting how each Smith has such a different sound in their music

by Anonymousreply 10May 21, 2021 3:12 AM

Actually good. Impressed. Was prepared to scoff.

by Anonymousreply 11May 21, 2021 3:14 AM

Lip syncing, no thanks.

by Anonymousreply 12May 21, 2021 3:23 AM

That’s 90% of artists today r12

I liked it.

by Anonymousreply 13May 21, 2021 3:24 AM

I also surprised myself by liking it. She is looking very pretty now.

by Anonymousreply 14May 21, 2021 3:28 AM

She’s definitely growing into her looks

by Anonymousreply 15May 21, 2021 3:40 AM

🔥 it’s good

by Anonymousreply 16May 21, 2021 4:47 AM

I'm sorry, where are the back up singers???? She's lip-synching!!! Not cool!

by Anonymousreply 17May 21, 2021 4:56 AM

Reminds me a little of the Cure. I like it.

by Anonymousreply 18May 21, 2021 4:57 AM

R17 they all lip synch these days. Get over it.

by Anonymousreply 19May 21, 2021 10:47 AM

I was prepared to hate it. But didn’t.

by Anonymousreply 20May 21, 2021 12:32 PM

Hmmmm not bad at all. Good for her.

by Anonymousreply 21May 21, 2021 1:33 PM

OP = Jada

by Anonymousreply 22May 21, 2021 2:23 PM

Horrible voice!! So grating an ugly to boot !!

by Anonymousreply 23May 21, 2021 2:32 PM

Talented

by Anonymousreply 24May 21, 2021 2:46 PM

The best part about this is she saying go fuck yourself to the black elite and the assumption that black people only sing R&B.

by Anonymousreply 25May 21, 2021 3:22 PM

R25 ???

by Anonymousreply 26May 21, 2021 3:23 PM

Is she singing that she has trans parents?

by Anonymousreply 27May 21, 2021 3:29 PM

Way too manufactured. Perhaps, LA edgy K-pop, or something.

by Anonymousreply 28May 21, 2021 3:29 PM

She’s singing that she sees through someone

by Anonymousreply 29May 21, 2021 3:30 PM

K-Pop doesn’t sound like this.

by Anonymousreply 30May 21, 2021 3:30 PM

The "manufactured" aspect, dipshit.

by Anonymousreply 31May 21, 2021 3:32 PM

Isn’t all punk rock and Neo Rock “manufactured”???? It’s not classic rock.

by Anonymousreply 32May 21, 2021 3:34 PM

Well, anything that is made is.

This is "art" supposedly, not etymology.

by Anonymousreply 33May 21, 2021 3:37 PM

It’s ok. Not sure if there is a market for that kind of music anymore. Her brother is so annoying.

by Anonymousreply 34May 21, 2021 3:41 PM

R34 I feel like her and her bro just do whatever they want. Her brother in particular does very artsy music that isn’t commercial

by Anonymousreply 35May 21, 2021 7:00 PM

She seems really cute. I don’t get DLs hate for her

The song just came up on a tiktok and it’s seriously awesome.

by Anonymousreply 37May 26, 2021 3:51 AM

She’s the more talented of the two.

by Anonymousreply 38May 26, 2021 5:21 AM

Why is Jimmy Fallen looking so slovenly?

I’m surprised Dave Grohl wasn’t on drums. He’s on everything and he’s everywhere

by Anonymousreply 41May 26, 2021 6:44 AM

Smith kids are cool. Whip My Hair was great. Willow has always been amazing and she declined being exploited at 12 years old to develop as a person. Jaden's clothing line MSFTSREP sells out almost immediately whenever they release something new. I'm still trying to get pieces from the Trippy Summer collection second hand cause it's cool as shit. They work together on their individual projects and are both cool as shit.

by Anonymousreply 42May 26, 2021 8:06 AM

I watched so I could hisss but she's surprisingly good.

by Anonymousreply 43May 26, 2021 8:23 AM

I do find it surprising that she isn't singing hip hop or the drivel that today passes for R&B, as R25 has mentioned. Her voice is mediocre, but at least it is pleasant enough for background music.

The song itself is bubblegum repackaged as pop/rock, with a little bit more substance than the crap produced by the likes of Avril Lavigne. It's interesting to see someone like her performing it, though - most Afro-American singers would be content with singing one of those "got lodsa moolah - bitch, me iz rich" hip hop songs with lots of samples, an illiterate rapper babbling nonsense and and touches of pseudo-political posing.

What I have loved is Jaden's song at R8. It is surprisingly beautiful, mellow and profound. Who would have thought that Will Smith's children would do something truly interesting, instead of the annoying pap their father used to perform?

by Anonymousreply 44May 26, 2021 8:32 AM

R44 not all black people only listen to or like rap/R&B 🙄🙄🙄

There are black people into pop and rock’s subgenres. The issue is they’re looked at as funny. It’s music. Why is it ok for white people to listen to rap and hip hop (they’re the biggest consumers of it, especially in the south) but black people are always looked at as funny if they like pop and rock etc?

Normani recently asked why black performers aren’t allowed to do regular full on pop music like white artists? She wants to do pop music but is almost expected to do R&B and Hip Hop.

by Anonymousreply 45May 26, 2021 12:35 PM

Great bop

by Anonymousreply 46June 10, 2021 7:24 PM

[quote] She seems really cute. I don’t get DLs hate for her.

The only thing datalounge hates more than black people is successful black people. They believe that black people aren’t supposed to live better than they live and success is something that is owed to whites.

by Anonymousreply 47June 10, 2021 7:39 PM

Travis Barker is so fucking ugly. How that nasty looking piece of meth trash still has a career is one of life's great mysteries.
