Is Jimmy Carter The Oldest US President Whoever Lived?

He’s 96. Bush Sr was 94 when he died. Anyone know?

Happy 97th birthday, President Carter.

Yup. October 1st is his birthday.

Looks like it. As you said, the previous record for oldest president at the time of death was George H. W. Bush --- 94 years, 171 days.

An interesting fact: the last Democratic president to die was nearly 50 years ago, LBJ, in January 1973.

by Anonymousreply 10October 1, 2021 10:19 AM

And before LBJ’s passing, the gap between Democratic presidential deaths wasn’t nearly as great, as Harry Truman had died just 27 days earlier.

His longevity is remarkable considering that, with the exception of his mother, the rest of his family, including his father, sisters & brother, all died young, each succumbing to pancreatic cancer.

His 68-year old daughter-in-law, Jeff’s wife, died this week.

A most underrated president.

Just think, if Trump were to live this long, we’d have at least another 22 years of him.
