A new trial in the Flloyd case?

When a member of Congress demands a conviction or she'll start encouraging rioters the AND then the judge doesn't declare a mistrial and SHE IS NOT thrown out of Congress you know the whole thing is a kangaroo court. This will go to the Supreme Court and should.

by Anonymousreply 1May 4, 2021 12:19 PM

I wouldn’t be surprised if the defence didn’t know of this picture’s existence beforehand. A little insurance if the trial doesn’t go Chauvin’s way. The juror is an idiot.

by Anonymousreply 2May 4, 2021 12:25 PM

What idiot lawyers let him on the jury?

by Anonymousreply 3May 4, 2021 12:35 PM

Blame this JERK for lying on his questionnaire. Blame this jerk for now putting the entire trial at risk. Blame this selfish jerk for everything if Chauvin gets a new trial. BLM should be in front of his house and throwing rocks and looting his garage. This could really be a game changer with such an obvious pre-trial bias, even a black judge might overturn the conviction.

by Anonymousreply 4May 4, 2021 3:40 PM

What will BLM do if there is a new trial? Will they march and will there be unrest and looting?

by Anonymousreply 5May 4, 2021 5:48 PM

There will be a deal: no new trial, agree to a lesser manslaughter charge with time already served along with probation.

by Anonymousreply 6May 4, 2021 5:54 PM

Pieces of shit like R1 are going to have a field day over this. Chauvin received the verdict he deserved, but if a juror incapable of being impartial lied on the questionnaire, Chauvin also has the right to appeal.

The fucked up thing is, hardcore racists have never had to conceal their biases to convict blacks based on flimsy cases, but Chauvin could get off (or at least get a new trial) when the evidence erases all doubt about what happened...but a technicality resulted in improper jury selection.

Nothing will change the fact that Chauvin is a vile murderer who deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison. Unfortunately, prosecutors may have to convince 12 more people to unanimously agree that that's the case.

As R1 and his ilk highlight, there are no shortage pf unabashed racists who think poor Derek has been unfairly maligned.

[quote] What idiot lawyers let him on the jury?

MN Attorney General Keith Ellison. He spent over $25,000,000 hiring expensive DC lawyers to try this case.

[quote] A photo, posted on social media, shows Brandon Mitchell, who is black, attending the August 28 event to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr's 'I Have a Dream' speech during the 1963 March on Washington. It shows Mitchell (far right) standing with two cousins and wearing a T-shirt

This wasn't a protest, it was a commemoration of the historical MLK speech...not quite the same.

by Anonymousreply 9May 4, 2021 8:38 PM

Why does OP always misspell Floyd? Does he think he's evading some kind of filter?

by Anonymousreply 10May 4, 2021 8:40 PM

[quote]When a member of Congress demands a conviction or she'll start encouraging rioters the AND then the judge doesn't declare a mistrial and SHE IS NOT thrown out of Congress you know the whole thing is a kangaroo court. When a president of the United States falsely claims an election was rigged and encouraged his followers to stop the counting of electoral votes by attacking the Capitol, and he isn't in jail yet tells us all we need to know about you and his acolytes.

by Anonymousreply 11May 4, 2021 8:44 PM

They were just talking about this on very liberal MSNBC and they even had to admit that this could be a BIG problem for the conviction when a juror misleads the court. The Judge will probably bring this juror back in and under oath ask him about his omission. He went all the way to Washington DC to attend a memorial and purchased a t shirt and forgot to mention this. Sounds like a fame whore who fucked the entire conviction up and will be famous for his selfish stupidity.

by Anonymousreply 12May 4, 2021 10:29 PM

The fun begins. This time around, BLM will not gain too much sympathy from the public if they start protesting and looting in different cities if a new trial is ordered, which is a real possibility.

Raise your hand(s) if you want to suck Derek Chauvin's hardcore police cock just for the heck of it.

by Anonymousreply 14May 4, 2021 11:34 PM

Mitchell ran to every news outlet known to man and flapped his lips, showing his face. Then his face got him in trouble.

He's a BLM zealot who lied his way onto the jury: Mistrial.

R8 Jerry Blackwell and Steve Schleicher are from Minnesota and they worked pro bono for the State. Go troll somewhere else.

by Anonymousreply 16May 5, 2021 12:04 AM

So all those here on DL who said Chauvin was totally innocent and the jury would quickly return a not guilty verdict on all counts will get another chance to be wrong.

by Anonymousreply 17May 5, 2021 12:06 AM

I developed a crush on Steve Schleicher during the trial. He's handsome, smart, and has BDF for days.

by Anonymousreply 18May 5, 2021 12:09 AM

Like it or not, this asshole who lied to be on the jury is going to be the next Jussie Smollet, but not as cute.

by Anonymousreply 19May 5, 2021 12:38 AM

R8, keith ellison said he feels sorry for chauvin

by Anonymousreply 20May 5, 2021 12:44 AM

This fucking guy. R15, he literally is too stupid to live

I hope he gets prosecuted and jailed for a few years

He is singlehandedly going to set the BLM movement back

by Anonymousreply 21May 5, 2021 12:50 AM

R15 etc., is pissed there weren't riots he could drool over.

by Anonymousreply 22May 5, 2021 12:51 AM

[quote]Like it or not, this asshole who lied to be on the jury is going to be the next Jussie Smollet, but not as cute.

Oh hunny yes...this guy does look like a big ole stunt queen who sells foodstamps

by Anonymousreply 23May 5, 2021 1:03 AM

R22, don't be ragging on R15

This guy is a piece of shit. He's the one who is going to be responsible for this trial being overturned.

And the only reason he got caught is because he's wanted media attention. He doesn't give a fuck what this will do to George Floyd's family or anyone else. It's all about him

And I just know, Mr "too stupid to live" left a trail of social media evidence that will be used to overturn the trial

by Anonymousreply 24May 5, 2021 1:15 AM

If the verdict is overturned on a technicality, all hell will break loose.

by Anonymousreply 25May 6, 2021 10:37 PM

Called it! All the woke freaks on here were frothing over the trial outcome and I put their fingers in their ears when i told then what would happen, well, look at what happens when you allow woke to infect justice. Chauvin will get a retrial and will be given a lesser sentence, if BLM riot and destroy parts of cities again, it will look real bad on them.

by Anonymousreply 26May 6, 2021 10:50 PM

Meh - nothing will happen, even if it does maybe let them go to retrial and try go for a higher charge, they got these ones proven with ease so maybe get him for something else too.

by Anonymousreply 27May 6, 2021 10:53 PM

He should have told the Judge and lawyers about his activist past. He never would have been selected as a juror.

by Anonymousreply 28May 6, 2021 10:54 PM

But then he wouldn't be able to avenge a criminal, drug user.

by Anonymousreply 29May 6, 2021 10:57 PM

Also of course the real story here is the white guy refusing to accept justice being done. Tale as end in time. Nothings gonna happen. The juror attending a protest doesn’t mean he’s an activist - half the country attended BLM protests over the last year, what are u gonna count them out too?

by Anonymousreply 30May 6, 2021 10:58 PM

This guy is going to be the cause of more riots and more Dems saying nothing, and the Reps winning more seats by doing nothing. Sounds truly appalling.

by Anonymousreply 31May 6, 2021 10:59 PM

R311 yea yes I’m sure you said there were gonna be riots after the verdict too. Quit the panic button. He’s not gonna get a retrial, he’s going to jail. Soon!

by Anonymousreply 32May 6, 2021 11:00 PM

[quote] even a black judge might overturn the conviction.

Wow. Just fucking wow.

Because a judge is black he doesn’t follow the law ordinarily?

JFC.

by Anonymousreply 33May 6, 2021 11:03 PM

A new trial is almost 99.9% unlikely. Turns out the juror in question was grilled extensively by the defense during jury selection, because he voiced support for BLM. Also, the questionnaire referenced anti-police protests when he can plausibly say he attended an equality March (timed for the 57th anniversary of MLK Jrs I have a dream speech). As much as Trump cultists want Chauvin to be free to kill more black people, he’s going to spend the rest of his life in prison.

by Anonymousreply 34May 7, 2021 2:46 AM

R26 did you call this?

[quote] A new trial is almost 99.9% unlikely.

LOL! You cannot possibly make such a statement at this point. Motions for New Trials at this procedural stage are rarely granted because the defense is necessarily asking the judge to admit s/he made an error serious enough to warrant a new trial. At this stage it's near impossible to get a judge to even look at alleged errors with new eyes let alone agree to them and vacate the verdict. And, as infrequent as reversals and new trials are at the appellate levels, they are more common than a successful Motion for New Trial. Some attorneys don't even bother filing this motion and just include these issues in the appeal.

[quote] Turns out the juror in question was grilled extensively by the defense during jury selection,

You miss the entire point. The defense was unaware of important facts and therefore could not and did not "grill" juror #52 on those facts. Further, the march on Washington was specifically advertised by its organizers to be about and did focus on police brutality highlighting, among other cases, the George Floyd case and the Chauvin trial. There is no escaping what that march was designed for.

Juror #52 gave either unintentional misinformation or intentional deceptive information in answering Question #12 which specifically asked if they had attended any rallies on police brutality at any location. That juror answered no which was false.

Either way, the defense was denied the information it needed to either further probe that potential juror's potential bias or ulterior motives for jury service. And, most importantly, denied the opportunity to effectively participate in voir dire. Had the defense known what Juror #52 I guarantee they would have struck him and the judge would have allowed it for cause. That juror's intent is irrelevant, though if there is evidence to suggest the juror deliberately deceived the court or the defense that would compound the error.

The juror's conduct is a serious issue.

OP in the *South Carolina may become the fourth state to allow executions by firing squad* thread:

"NYC should think about that too.....the criminals are running wild in the city thanks to this felon coddling mayor. DeBlasio will be gone soon and we will need a Dirty Harry savior it is so bad."

by Anonymousreply 37May 7, 2021 4:25 PM

We don't need the death penalty to not "coddle" violent criminals. We just have to take violence seriously.

Though I have to admit during the pandemic I watched a lot of those awful true murder shows - like really awful - and the death penalty started to seem like a plausible alternative. Why should other inmates and prison workers have to be at risk of these sociopaths? It's true: TV will rot your brain.

by Anonymousreply 38May 7, 2021 4:43 PM

Well I guess everyone was right about there being a new trial, but I don’t think a newly announced federal level trial on civil rights charges was exactly what they had in mind! Haha BAMM!

by Anonymousreply 39May 7, 2021 5:11 PM

And throw the lying Maggot in jail with the rest of them.

by Anonymousreply 40May 7, 2021 5:52 PM

At the very least this juror can be charged for lying on a jury questionnaire and have a heft fine to pay. If I were his employer I would fire his lying ass and keep him away from customers.

by Anonymousreply 41May 7, 2021 6:28 PM

Spoiler alert: He won't be charged.

by Anonymousreply 42May 7, 2021 6:32 PM

R41 it would be crowd funded x

by Anonymousreply 43May 7, 2021 6:36 PM

Attention-drama-queen who had to get right into the spotlight the minute the trial ended, thus possibly screwing up the entire trial and verdict processes.

by Anonymousreply 44May 8, 2021 5:14 AM

[quote] BLM should be in front of his house and throwing rocks and looting his garage.

So stealth, R4. Your disingenuous, fake concern is so easy to spot.
