Alber Elbaz is DEAD to me
[quote] Fashion designer Alber Elbaz, best known for breathing new life into the French design house Lanvin, died on Saturday at the age of 59.
[quote] His cause of death was COVID-19, the New York Times reported, citing Richemont, the company backing Elbaz’s new AZ Factory fashion brand.

He really did reinvigorate that brand- I recall those sneakers in the 2008-2010 era were very coveted. I really like his menswear back then.

How is Lanvin pronounced?

Lots of overweight people seem to be dying from Covid.

Elbaz's designs were modern, exquisitely tailored perfection. My mother adored Arpege, so I was familiar with the House of Lanvin. Elbaz's resuscitation reminded me it still existed! I thought it shut down long ago.
Why wasn't he vaccinated? Couldn't he afford the Trump treatment? Or is that only for Trump and friends of Trump?

Uh, he obviously had comorbidities. As R4, suggests -- and it is true -- being fat and (probably) diabetic, are two of them.

R3 - Kind of like "LON-VON"

Being overweight seems to be a factor in many of these Covid deaths, which explains why there are so many young people also dying from Covid. Not only being overweight, but having pre-existing health conditions.

Really sad. He was a talented man.

None of you have it right yet.
It's pronounced like "Long-vang," with both the "g" sounds sort of swallowed.

Here's how you pronounce Lanvin.

Apparently he had been vaccinated. Loved his work.

R16, not true
Anyone in the 55-64 age group in France was able to receive a coronavirus vaccine from 12 April.
But there’s no evidence to suggest that Alber Elbaz had been vaccinated.
Sources say he had been ill with Covid for three weeks before his death – which was before the vaccine was available to his age range in the country.

R17, the Israeli media said he had been vaccinated.

But R18, the designer for that Lanvin collection was Claude Montana. We're talking about Alber Elbaz.

Couldn’t the brand at least reciprocate then?

Yes dear, I know that but my response was to R3 who inquired how to pronounce "Lanvin", something that happens in video.
Please keep up!

I just read some of his bio. Quite an interesting fellow and I think he’s kind of cute. At one time when he was young he was a soldier. That must’ve been hard for him being a creative type.

But sweetie, I already did that in the video at R12. Aren't you the one that should keep up?

You're only a week late, OP.
I love you, R24.
Anyway, for those saying he was a kind man, I concur. Despite what must have been immense pressure to produce collection after collection, year after year, he always seemed calm, kind, and insightful.

Nope, R31. This thread was started on April 25, 2021, the day after Elbaz died.
