Cut Broadway songs you liked better than their replacements

Gonna Be My Time is a rewrite of And Im telling you, but its a better finishing number for Effie than One Night Only and the disco version is better as well.

I actually don’t think that song fits in that well, which is why it was presumably cut

I always preferred "The Lady's Got Potential" from EVITA to its replacement, "The Art of the Possible." But I agree the subplot about Che's insecticide just didn't work.

Oh, I much prefer One Night Only.

Elaine Paige should have sung Effie in the West End version. she was robbed!

The concept album for Elton John's Aida is amazing and much better than the cast album done a few years later. Tina, Janet, Shania, Lulu, Sting and Heather Headley contributed. (Only HH went on to stage production.) A number of the original songs were deleted or tweaked before the show opened on Broadway.

I prefer the original song for Kim for the last slot in SHOW BOAT, the jazzy "It's Getting Hotter in the North," to what finally replaced it, the reprise of "Why Do I Love You?" I also LOVE the other replacement they tried out for the revival in the 1940s, "Nobody Else But Me," which they never used again.
