Why all this Hayden Hate? He was supposed to play a morose, overconfident teenager in the prequel films and that's what he did. It was not his fault that they gave him such terrible lines ("I do not like sand. It get's everywhere....") and paired him with that talentless cow Natalie Portman. And there was a continuity problem because kiddie Anakin was a completely different type. Loo what he grew into. I still think Hayden is very sexy and I wish him well.

Yes, this isn’t mentioned enough as one of the major problems with the prequels.

A devious-looking, vibrant and knowing boy who could project instability (like, say, Jeremy Sumpter at the time) would have been a much better cast for a preteen Anakin, if we absolutely had to see him as a boy (and most fans maintain we didn’t need to meet Ani until he was a teen). Phlegmatic and cherubic chubby-cheeked Jake Lloyd was too adorable, and that was an issue.

I dropped out of Star Wars when he went after the kids - just cheap story telling.

Except for Ewan McGregor and Natalie Portman, most of them had their careers wrecked by the prequel trilogy.

Liam Neeson was already fairly well established. But, people like Ahmed Best and Hayden, not to mention that poor kid Jake Lloyd, were relentless hounded for terrible performances which were the fault of Lucas's script and direction.

My version TPM is called “Theed Racer”, AOTC is “I Was A Teenaged Fascist!”, and ROTS is “Rocks Fall, Anakin Fries”.

I think that gives a more accurate evocation of the stories.

R30, yeah, Hayden was in a relationship with Rachel Bilson for a decade and they have a daughter but split up a few years ago. As you say, there's unfortunately never been any proof that he's gay. I remember back when the Star Wars prequels appeared, DL was sure he was gay but we may have called that one wrong.

Initially I thought he was gay only because nothing he ever did, no pose he ever struck, ever made him look even remotely, well I don't want to say macho, but heterosexual.

After watching the final movie, I was somewhat tempted to watch the earlier movies again and see how they have aged. After reading this thread, I might just rewatch the original trilogy and bypass the prequels.

To be honest, his level of talent is about equal to a modestly talented community theater actor in Hooterville.
