Queen Elizabeth's Survival

How long will Liz last?

by Anonymousreply 49April 20, 2021 12:29 AM

OP here. Tried to create a POLL, didn't work.

by Anonymousreply 1April 17, 2021 1:18 PM

Spouses often go within 6 mos after their other half dies. If Liz makes it that long, she'll be around for a long time. Chuck's strumpet wife is beginning to look almost as old as the Queen,

by Anonymousreply 2April 17, 2021 1:21 PM

It's a question one always asks oneself.

by Anonymousreply 3April 17, 2021 1:21 PM

3 months.

by Anonymousreply 4April 17, 2021 1:22 PM

Long enough to KICK Harry and Andrews ASS !!

by Anonymousreply 5April 17, 2021 1:23 PM

R4 There would be a very ugly revolution in the UK if they cancelled our television again so soon.

by Anonymousreply 6April 17, 2021 1:24 PM

Based on the way their relationship is portrayed on The Crown, she’ll barely notice he’s gone.

This might actually open up the end of her life a bit. He seemed like a narrow minded prick and probably excluded her from having people she liked visit.

by Anonymousreply 7April 17, 2021 1:35 PM

R7 You're a fucking idiot.

by Anonymousreply 8April 17, 2021 1:39 PM

Wouldn’t it be funny if she hooked up with Meghan’s forlorn father?

by Anonymousreply 9April 17, 2021 1:43 PM

At the very least another 10 years.

by Anonymousreply 10April 17, 2021 1:45 PM

The death of Philip (and the public response) has underlined one thing for me:

When Elizabeth dies, she will, for most purposes, take the monarchy with her. Because people (particularly her subjects) do not care for or about the monarchy without her. They will not welcome her successor or their partner/family or show the same affection and loyalty.

The official "monarchy" may continue but in a downsized and diluted form, similar to other titled nobility around the world.

by Anonymousreply 11April 17, 2021 1:56 PM

She’s the queen of England, not your newly widowed mother who’s suddenly alone after the funeral is over and everyone’s gone home. She will be fine.

by Anonymousreply 12April 17, 2021 1:59 PM

The new Acme QEII-6 model is performing beautifully and is expected to be in operation for 10 years, after which the in-development QEII-7 model is planned to take the monarchy through the 2,000-year anniversary of the Battle of Hastings in 2066.

The CIII-0.1 model was

^ Discontinued.

Don't tell him.

by Anonymousreply 14April 17, 2021 2:16 PM

To the grand old age of 104.Longer than her mother.

by Anonymousreply 15April 17, 2021 2:18 PM

[quote] She’s the queen of England, not your newly widowed mother who’s suddenly alone after the funeral is over and everyone’s gone home. She will be fine.

She's 94. She was already NOT fine.

by Anonymousreply 16April 17, 2021 2:19 PM

At every funeral the thought in everyone's head is "one day, I'll be dead too." Awful affairs.

by Anonymousreply 17April 17, 2021 2:24 PM

Why are they masked? Isn't everyone in the UK vaccinated?

by Anonymousreply 18April 17, 2021 2:25 PM

What a witty reply, R8. Shows the grace and intellectual sophistication of the RF cult — as if the Meghan trollery wasn’t already proof positive.

by Anonymousreply 19April 17, 2021 2:34 PM

[quote] The official "monarchy" may continue but in a downsized and diluted form, similar to other titled nobility around the world.

It’s about time. Only her incredible endurance has delayed this from happening. All the fuss about a foolish fairy tale. All the ludicrous pretense. It’s the 21st century. Do us a favour.

by Anonymousreply 20April 17, 2021 2:36 PM

I think she's going to be around at least another 10 years, personally.

by Anonymousreply 21April 17, 2021 2:55 PM

R19 is a fucking idiot.

by Anonymousreply 22April 17, 2021 3:02 PM

She'll live as long as I let her...

Who the fuck cares? How is there nothing else to talk about?

by Anonymousreply 24April 17, 2021 3:06 PM

You Megan obsessives can't leave one thread alone, can you?

by Anonymousreply 25April 17, 2021 3:33 PM

Does Charles automatically take over or can she decide her replacement.

by Anonymousreply 26April 17, 2021 6:54 PM

Yes, r26.

The Queen Mother lived to be 101 and she got shitfaced drunk every day until the very end. Old Liz could still have a few more years in her.

by Anonymousreply 28April 17, 2021 7:31 PM

People are really mean. What a depressing, vicious public we are.

by Anonymousreply 29April 17, 2021 7:37 PM

She'll live beyond 100 years, probably dying by the time she's 105.

by Anonymousreply 30April 17, 2021 7:43 PM

If she lives to 105, Charles might go before her!

by Anonymousreply 31April 17, 2021 8:23 PM

^ That's the plan

by Anonymousreply 32April 17, 2021 8:24 PM

I don’t know but she is amazing. She is still very much on the ball. The Royal family will be quite diminished when she goes. Charles has no charisma and William, we’ll see. But neither will ever match QE.

by Anonymousreply 33April 17, 2021 8:45 PM

William showed promise as a young man (in part because he reminded everyone of Diana).

But he's shown himself to every bit as self-involved and charisma-free as his father.

The public does not love Will and Kate, despite incredibly strenuous PR efforts.

by Anonymousreply 34April 17, 2021 9:20 PM

The public won't have a say in it, r34.

by Anonymousreply 35April 17, 2021 10:03 PM

R35– Why do you think it’s killing lunatic Megstans. They know that there is nothing they can do to prevent William and Kate from being King and Queen.

by Anonymousreply 36April 17, 2021 10:07 PM

^ It's the Klan Granny fantasy hour I see

by Anonymousreply 37April 17, 2021 10:24 PM

William is very much the bore fest that Charles is. Most people don't give a fuck about either of them.

by Anonymousreply 38April 17, 2021 10:26 PM

Being boring is a virtue in a king.

by Anonymousreply 39April 17, 2021 10:28 PM

If future monarchs do not have the affection and respect of the general public, they will shrink into greater and greater irrelevance. Who do you think supports them, after all?

by Anonymousreply 40April 17, 2021 10:30 PM

Question: at her funeral will they sing ‘God Save the Queen’ or ‘God Save the King’?

by Anonymousreply 41April 17, 2021 10:33 PM

William’s kids will start moving to the forefront. That will probably keep things interesting.

by Anonymousreply 42April 17, 2021 10:55 PM

She'd better wait until the pandemic's over. I want to see a no-holds-barred funeral.

by Anonymousreply 43April 17, 2021 10:57 PM

[quote]William’s kids will start moving to the forefront. That will probably keep things interesting.

Harry and Meghan (if she's still married to him) are going to be furious when that happens, as all of the attention will be on William's kids once they reach young adulthood.

by Anonymousreply 44April 17, 2021 11:49 PM

[quote]If she lives to 105, Charles might go before her!

Yep, and then just two will be left standing in my way.

by Anonymousreply 45April 18, 2021 1:01 AM

R34, William is actually very popular, and, as a member of the British public, I want a dignified, "boring" as you might put it, monarch. Their role is to be a public servant and represent the nation, not an entertaining celebrity.

by Anonymousreply 46April 18, 2021 6:05 PM

Oh please, one lasting memory of my trip to London was the tabloid headlines "Anne is Horrible" because she wouldn't take some pensioner's flowers---scandal comes from celebrity not "royalty". I suspect Brits love dishing them as celebs. My longgone peasant relatives in rural Somerset might have revered the royal family (along with my even longer gone grandmother who came from there), but I seriously doubt that most people distinguish that much between "royalty" and celebrity" especially with the shitshow that has been Chuck and his siblings. Liz must be relived that Margaret is no longer alive with all her added drama.

by Anonymousreply 47April 19, 2021 8:27 PM

Margaret is absolutely the one who should have had her own reality show on BRAVO.

Can you imagine?

"Merry (House) Wives of Windsor"

by Anonymousreply 48April 20, 2021 12:26 AM

I think she will get near 100 if not hit it. She is a tough old girl. They should just skip Charles and pass the crown to William.
