This has been my favorite guilty pleasure sitcom for much of the last decade. It’s a love letter to NYC and the cast is an amazing combination of actors who I hope are having as much fun as it looks on screen. Sutton Foster still looks fabulous, if not passable as a millennial. Miriam Shore proves yet again that she elevates everything she touches to the nth degree. Four episodes have dropped on Hulu and while I should ration them out I can’t, it been too long await for the long goodbye. Share your thoughts, love it or hate it, as it winds down to its conclusion and reckoning of who Liza chooses.
Younger: The Final Season “Goodbye to All That.”

Can't believe this shit got seven seasons.
Oh, and it's Miriam Shor, superfan.

Slap in the face to everyone who watched it all these years on TVLand that they put the final season on streaming

R1 Damn autocorrect, it won’t leave that dangling “r.”

It’s just odd what roles Miriam Shor ends up in. It’s like that Siobhan Fallon who has shown up in European art films for years and then idk Men in Black or something.

Nico was so hot when this started, and now that we've gotten to know him he's a total dick wilter.

I thought this was cancelled after the first season?
I had never seen Hillary Duff before and I thought she was amazing.

It will get a whole new bingeworthy life on Hulu, TVLand was too dark a little corner of cable TV.

What’s really weird with all these media entities already is that it begins with the MTV logo, how the hell does that all fit into this?
by Anonymous | reply 8 | April 15, 2021 12:54 PM |
We should all be so lucky to have a choice between someone who looks like Peter Hermann and Nico Tortorella.
"Looks like" being the operative two words of that sentence.

I’m glad they are ignoring the whole Covid thing, I don’t need this interfering with my fantasy NYC that this show has built.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 15, 2021 1:20 PM |
Ugh, four episodes in and Shor’s character is still on her honeymoon. The back end better be Shor heavy.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 15, 2021 1:40 PM |
Discovered this show around Season 4, then caught up — LOVE it!
Yes, it was a stretch early on to accept Sutton Foster being accepted as a millennial, but she’s warm and likable, and Miriam Shor is outstanding. I’m neither OP or a Shor superfan, but she turns a character that could be a Meryl Streep in “Devil Wears Prada” knockoff into someone multidimensional. She’s had some hilarious moments and some really touching ones, too.
And the actor who plays her husband is HOT!

I must say I am impressed how the show managed to stay on for seven seasons. Love Sutton and Miriam. Even Hillary Duff is great in this.

I like the show a lot and I'm pissed it's on Hulu for the final season ... anyone know if it's slated to run later on TV Land?
by Anonymous | reply 14 | April 15, 2021 2:20 PM |
Oh, HELL no — the article linked at OP states that Miriam Shor isn’t a series regular this season!
by Anonymous | reply 15 | April 15, 2021 2:23 PM |
It felt way too young and ambitious for TV Land which is more about actual "filmed in front of a live audience" studio sitcoms. I mean, they canceled Impastor which was a pretty fun sitcom with Michael Rosenbaum, Sara Rue and David Rasche. Ending the show with a cliffhanger (who wants to binge on a show that you know doesn't have a proper ending?).

No Diana, now I don't care they moved it to streaming

Two episodes in, disappointed so far. Shor is much-missed, and that annoying Lauren character working in the office was a bad idea. Duff looks terrible, orange makeup and stringy hair.

I just can't get over thinking Peter Hermann is really gay. I don't even care, it's none of my business but he's really handsome and I see him around town every so often and become obsessed again. I guess I'm just jealous.

The writing on this show was never great, but it is cartoonish now. And everyone repeatedly changes motivations 180 degrees, at regular intervals. It's more like a Spanish-language telenovella at this point. No wonder Shor bailed.

I just don’t get the viewing schedule for this season. Four episodes last week, and then I assumed one this week, but when I looked it say 5/13/2021. So I’m bummed that it’s like a month. But then I open Hulu and it says a new one is a available. More new characters, why are they adding so many at the end instead of wrapping up story lines? Janine Garafalo must be terminally ill as she is unrecognizable. Either that or she’s read Justine Bateman’s book and joined her cult. I would love to see Nico become more like the actor and end up a them and maybe have a hunky boyfriend, like if he couldn’t have Liza, they may as well have a boyfriend instead. Sutton actually dances this episode as a flapper which was nice. I like the building feud with Laura, I hope they have a fever dream sing off for Charles, maybe that song from Chess or another Broadway duet.

I don't think I've ever heard of this show, or if I have I have completely glossed over it because I don't know anything about it. Don't think it's really been a household name in the UK that's for sure - though that seems to be the case with a lot of things on Hulu - we can't get that in the UK and although some shows end up on a streaming platform that we do get, some just don't ever seem to materialise, or do so way too late to catch on.

Janeane Garofalo is in it!
by Anonymous | reply 23 | April 29, 2021 4:59 AM |
I love the show, but the airing schedule was so chaotic that I couldn't keep up when new episodes air and pretty much forgot about it. I think TV Land wanted to get rid of the show a long time ago.
by Anonymous | reply 24 | April 29, 2021 6:52 AM |
It was a much smarter and campier show than something like Emily in Paris, and did a great job of skewering millennial female empowerment tropes like girlboss, shero, lean in, etc. Loved their pointing out that George RR Martin (Game of Thrones) is just an old perv who writes incest porn and not some genius.
It also has fun NY guest stars like Martha Plimpton, Laura Benanti, Michael Urie, Kathy Najimy, etc.
Like above, I’m upset Miriam Shor is gone for the final season. I can’t stand the useless Molly character.

Peter Hermann makes my nether regions tingle.

So, apparently we’re at mid season already and that requires a requisite trailer. Things are looking whimper more than bang.

Sutton Foster looks so much better with lots of makeup on. In person in her everyday look, she's actually quite homely.
by Anonymous | reply 31 | May 1, 2021 3:54 PM |
If she chooses that tattood freak she is dumber than dirt.
by Anonymous | reply 32 | May 1, 2021 3:55 PM |
I like this show and have watched from episode one but this season's "conflict" is extremely contrived...they broke up because Liza doesn't want to get married again (to anyone) and because of that Charles is now an asshole.
by Anonymous | reply 33 | May 1, 2021 4:07 PM |
There are such fun inside jokes going on as the last few episodes sputter and die out. This week in the rivalry between Laura Benanati and Sutton, Laura says how Sutton is all goodness and light like Maria in Sound of Music, while she’s trapped in the role of the Baroness. Of course Laura did understudy and had her Broadway debut as Maria, but played the Baroness in the notorious Live TV production. Sutton did sing the Lonely Goatherder earlier in the show’s run. They did bring back the daughter and the ex husband unnecessarily since they haven’t touched on them in ages instead of focusing on wrapping the other main pertinent storylines. And again too much focus on Janine Garafalo, who really looks so bad as most in her situation would retire to doing just voice work at this point.

Ugh, they paired poor Maggie with the withered haggard crone that Janeane Garofalo has become, that’s a very cruel fate indeed.

Horrible ending.
