Do you have any friends who refuse to get the COVID vaccination?

My friend refuses to get vaccinated. She never gets the yearly flu vaccine and is scared of getting sick from the shot. I understand that this is her choice, but I feel like distancing myself from the friendship because I think she's being selfish and irresponsible.

by Anonymousreply 194April 20, 2021 12:51 PM

Yes, 2 people I know. Both are now avoided. Sister-in-law husband is a fox viewing newsmax q moron. I got her vaccinated through my doctor. He's now pissed that I didn't ask him. I just walked away laughing. The other I told not to come around anymore. Find a new friend. Punched, deleted, unfriended, and unfollowed.

Life's too short to willingly deal with morons.

by Anonymousreply 1April 13, 2021 6:48 PM

No, but I just got my second Pfizer shot and I feel like total shit. I'm sore everywhere and it feels like there is a burning fire behind my eyes. Still worth it though.

by Anonymousreply 2April 13, 2021 6:52 PM

My friend is a total Covid denier. He also has been incredibly gracious buying season tickets for his friends to touring productions of Bway shows, local opera companies and concerts. He also loves gatherings to gather in his mod little house to having screenings of old and new movies in his home theatre set up. He refuses to get vaccinated so - A - I think without his VAX card he won’t be able to go to the theater - his head will explode!! .... plus his gatherings - I don’t want to go to a small movie/dinner party with rethugs who aren’t VAXxed and won’t wear a mask!

by Anonymousreply 3April 13, 2021 7:06 PM

My 34 year old ditsy, asthmatic, overweight cousin is scared shitless of anything medical. But she's covering up for that with flimsy excuses and somehow thinks that if her husband gets vaccinated that will be enough. We've tried to tell her, "A ventilator is much more terrifying than a needle prick," but whatever. I seldom see her anyway, and now I have an excuse to keep on avoiding her.

by Anonymousreply 4April 13, 2021 7:12 PM

Yes. An in-law who has had blood related issues. He's worried about clotting.

by Anonymousreply 5April 13, 2021 7:14 PM

R2 - I finally got an appointment for the first jab for the 20th. Everyone I know had some reaction to the second jab. With my severe asthma and the weight I put on, I will take the side effects and keep on masking. I can't wait and thank God. Both me and my roommate scored Pfizer 2 days apart for the first shot. As lame as it sounds, we will celebrate that day with a bottle of wine and a roast lamb. Yeah, we will keep masking but she was saying "a tiny peak at the light at the end of this tunnel." Sure we have 2 Americans here, one from Florida and one from Wisconsin and a few people we USED to meet with who we found out are anti-vaxxers, but we avoid them now. These are also anti-maskers so fuck it...no big loss.

by Anonymousreply 6April 13, 2021 7:17 PM

The only one of my friends who hasn't yet is saying she's "waiting this one out" - whatever that means. She's the drama queen of the group, who regularly bails out on plans at a moment's notice, so no big swig there.

Got my second Pfizer last week. No issues with either 1st or 2nd.

by Anonymousreply 7April 13, 2021 7:19 PM

A friend of 25 years has become a virulent evangelical who refuses to get the vaccine. She says the pastor of her strip-mall church assures them that God will watch over them if they pray hard enough.

What's sad is that she used to be spunky and fun. Now I just want to avoid her.

by Anonymousreply 8April 13, 2021 7:22 PM

I know three that are refusing to get the vaccination, and all three are Trumper idiots.

by Anonymousreply 9April 13, 2021 7:25 PM

Two (male) gun nut cousins, a morbidly obese frau neighbor who keeps trying to get me to buy her over-priced, useless essential oils and a conspiracy theory lovin' great aunt who believes that the vaccine(s) contain a chip that Satan's created and being jabbed will keep her from ascending to be with her Heavenly Father.

by Anonymousreply 10April 13, 2021 7:27 PM

no friends who refuse, only coworkers. some with bizarre theories about the vaccine affecting fertility. I'm like you know what else affects fertility? Death.

by Anonymousreply 11April 13, 2021 7:27 PM

I can totally understand someone who is genuinely afraid of the shot itself and the fear of setting off something in their own body. It’s like being on a high floor off a burning building and you have to jump into a trampoline below and trust they will catch you. I understand that FEAR - BUT I loathe those arrogant idiots that “Want their rights!” - the ones that will carry the virus into mom and pop shops and churches etc - that makes me crazy!

by Anonymousreply 12April 13, 2021 7:29 PM

I don't know of any friends who aren't getting vaccinated, but the vast majority of my immediate and extended family refuses to.

by Anonymousreply 13April 13, 2021 7:30 PM

Does your friend understand that she won’t get sick from the vaccine? That it’s actually her immune response that causes any reaction?

by Anonymousreply 14April 13, 2021 7:31 PM

Why the hell are any of you friends with these people? PUNCH AND DELETE.

by Anonymousreply 15April 13, 2021 7:32 PM

FWIW, I had a fairly mild reaction yesterday to the second shot: my temp rose to 99.5 - 100 for a few hours. Enough to produce that slightly punky feeling of a low fever but I still functioned with a few extra naps. Will she also avoid the shingles vax?

by Anonymousreply 16April 13, 2021 7:34 PM
"A ventilator is much more terrifying than a needle prick,"

I don’t know. A needle prick is pretty terrifying.

Granted, we may be talking about two different things, though.

by Anonymousreply 17April 13, 2021 7:35 PM
As lame as it sounds, we will celebrate that day with a bottle of wine and a roast lamb.

Sorry, from where I’m sitting, not lame. At all. I totally understand it.
she was saying "a tiny peak at the light at the end of this tunnel."

She’s right.

by Anonymousreply 18April 13, 2021 7:36 PM
She says the pastor of her strip-mall church assures them that God will watch over them if they pray hard enough.

I don't understand people like this. If they believe "God is love" and their "Heavenly Father" is watching over them, then why do they not only have to *ask* to be protected from peril, but must "pray hard" (which I assume means beg and grovel)? This god of theirs sounds like a pretty unpleasant character.

by Anonymousreply 19April 13, 2021 7:36 PM

I can only assume the pastors and church-goers who died didn’t pray hard enough.

Or god was busy.

by Anonymousreply 20April 13, 2021 7:37 PM

Regarding the COVID -19 vaccination. Yes, three people I know refuse to get the COVID 19 vaccination. Two want to wait until many other people get vaccinated. One will never get the vaccine. I received my first dose last week. My second dose is in three weeks.

Regarding the flu vaccine, I know a few people who have never taken the flu vaccine. Although my primary care physician was pushing it for years, last year was the first time I was vaccinated for the flu. It is highly doubtful that I'll choose to get the flu shot again.

by Anonymousreply 21April 13, 2021 7:42 PM

R14 I've sent her several links containing simple explanations of how the various COVID vaccines work. I let her know that I had a very minor reaction after my first shot, and that adverse side effects only last for 24 hours.

Her response was "maybe someday!" followed by the shrugging emoji.

by Anonymousreply 22April 13, 2021 7:51 PM

Well to be honest God only helps you if you know how to pray. If you don't you're fucked.

by Anonymousreply 23April 13, 2021 7:54 PM
great aunt who believes that the vaccine(s) contain a chip that Satan's created and being jabbed will keep her from ascending to be with her Heavenly Father.

I have an insane QAnaon relative who believes something similar. She said Satan, being a supernatural entity, has no way of controlling humans. Satan has collaborated with the pharmaceutical companies to invent nano-chips which are injected with the vaccine and which allow Satan to "track" people.

How this is any different from schizophrenia, I don't know.

by Anonymousreply 24April 13, 2021 7:57 PM

Yes, and he has health problems that put him at high risk for complications, lives in a hotspot, and refuses to wear a mask. But he either hasn't been infected or has been asymptomatic, so maybe he's one of God's chosen.

by Anonymousreply 25April 13, 2021 7:59 PM

OP, gay men were killed by the government and pharmaceutical companies during the AIDS outbreak. It’s pretty dumb to even bring this up here. Gays know that we’re being treated as guinea pigs again. There is no way of knowing if this vaccine will work in the long term or if it won’t lead to cancers and deaths.

by Anonymousreply 26April 14, 2021 11:03 AM

Of all the people I know and/or am related to, with the exception of a friend of a friend who cannot be vaccinated due to some syndrome she has, I'm the last holdout, the only one not yet vaccinated. When there's real-world data that the fucker actually works, does something, then I'll roll up my sleeve for the jab.

by Anonymousreply 27April 14, 2021 11:41 AM

I knew a girl who refused to get the COVID vaccination. But then she died.

by Anonymousreply 28April 14, 2021 11:43 AM

Idiots. Hopefully their stupidity will help thin the herd.

by Anonymousreply 29April 14, 2021 11:48 AM

Not friends, but a few people I know are refusing. A mixture of Trumpers, poorly informed, or don't care.

by Anonymousreply 30April 14, 2021 11:55 AM

While that's true r14, I don't think the majority of people can differentiate between symptoms of illness and your body's immune response.

If someone gets nausea from COVID, they won't care why they're sick, they'll just know they feel sick and blame it on the illness.

by Anonymousreply 31April 14, 2021 12:33 PM

I'm more than socialist enough to feel very, very strongly that the vaccine should be mandatory. People should NOT be able to opt out. Period.

by Anonymousreply 32April 14, 2021 12:39 PM

My siblings have all said they won't get it. They also want to know what "we're going to do" for Christmas. I told them they can come over when they get the vaccine.

by Anonymousreply 33April 14, 2021 12:40 PM
My friend is a total Covid denier.

What does that mean. Does he deny the existence of the virus? Or does he just deny that it kills almost 0.01% of the people it infects?

by Anonymousreply 34April 14, 2021 12:41 PM
Or does he just deny that it kills almost 0.01% of the people it infects?

Link, please.

I won’t wait.

by Anonymousreply 35April 14, 2021 12:48 PM

Unvaccinated & unmasked Jehovah Witnesses (or any other religious group) going to homes knocking and leaving that crude literature is disrepectful behavior. During the pandemic, they know they can catch more people at home. They don't come to my place in a semi-rural area, because of legitimate, multiple dog warnings. Occasionally, they will send junk correspondence in the mail.

by Anonymousreply 36April 14, 2021 12:48 PM

Yes. He’s waiting. He wanted to go out someplace with him. I said no. I will distance those who do not take their shots. I will wear masks as long as we need to. Maybe even more. I’m not very social so I’m ok with this.

by Anonymousreply 37April 14, 2021 1:08 PM

EVERY. SINGLE. ONE of my friends is getting or has gotten vaccinated

by Anonymousreply 38April 14, 2021 1:14 PM

if I knew someone who wouldn't get vaccinated I wouldn't be friends with them

by Anonymousreply 39April 14, 2021 1:15 PM

my brother.

by Anonymousreply 40April 14, 2021 1:18 PM

Not anymore, no.

by Anonymousreply 41April 14, 2021 1:47 PM

I have one close friend who refuses to get the vaccine. She's very complicated, and also highly sceptical about all medical information (she's a concer survivor), but her main objection is that all the vaccines have been rushed out without any long-term studies, and results like the blood-clot deaths from the J&J and AZ vaccines of course add fuel to her fire.

She's not entirely wrong; for young people, with a lower risk of complications from COVID but a longer time frame for long-term vaccine damage, there's an argument to be made.

But whatever: we're in Europe, so the real problem is getting access to any vaccine at all. At this point, I might even take the Sputnik vaccine if it gets EU certification (not the Sinovac, though -- even I have my standards).

by Anonymousreply 42April 14, 2021 1:52 PM

^cancer survivor

by Anonymousreply 43April 14, 2021 1:52 PM
her main objection is that all the vaccines have been rushed out without any long-term studies

Did you ask her how long, in her expert opinion, would be an acceptable time period in which to develop and test a vaccine?

by Anonymousreply 44April 14, 2021 2:53 PM

Yes, my sister and my next door neighbor. “They have a Gates tracking chip”, “They alter your DNA”.

Hard to wrap my head around why Bill Gates would be interested in following me around.

by Anonymousreply 45April 14, 2021 2:56 PM

R5 Me too with the blood issues. Had a transfusion in December, and the donor platelets are somehow apparent in follow up blood tests. I’m happy to get the Pfizer, but the Australian Government is trying to offload the Astra Zeneca first. And I’m in that first group because of the blood and other issues. Not anti vax at all. Had the flu shot today.

by Anonymousreply 46April 14, 2021 3:03 PM

I hope all the anti-vaxxers die. That would be wonderful.

by Anonymousreply 47April 14, 2021 3:05 PM

People can also decide to play Russian Roulette and I don't give a fig about them either.

by Anonymousreply 48April 14, 2021 3:08 PM

Envious of you, R38.

by Anonymousreply 49April 14, 2021 3:13 PM

I can understand the hesitation. If Trump was still in office I honestly don’t think I would trust it. Well before the election Cuomo publicly stated that NY would not be participating in a national vaccine program under the Trump administration.

I have a relative who is being called back to the office June 1 and is freaking out that she “hasn’t had a chance” to get an appointment yet. She has been eligible since January. I repeatedly offered to help her get an appointment.

by Anonymousreply 50April 14, 2021 3:19 PM

Yes.

Very few of my clinical coworkers are getting the vaccine, and many have expressed regret because of the side effects and the potential long-term negative health implications.

When an infectious disease doctor looks at you and says “fuck no” when you ask him about the vaccine, I take it seriously

by Anonymousreply 51April 14, 2021 4:06 PM

Honest question, if you've had the vaccine why be afraid of those who have not been vaccinated? Isn't that what the jab is supposed to do, protect you from the unvaccinated?

by Anonymousreply 52April 14, 2021 4:18 PM

Yes, the infectious disease doctors I know are also terribly worried about the temporary flu symptoms that might arise with the Covid-19 vaccine, R51. In fact, they reject all vaccines, because every single one of them has potential side effects.

I know two—and they absolutely believe that the government is trying to control us through vaccines

by Anonymousreply 54April 14, 2021 5:15 PM

I'm reading these replies with astonishment. People REALLY believe if they pray hard enough they won't get sick? Or that brain chips will keep them from ascending to heaven?

...that's the kind of stuff my friends and I joke about when we discuss crazy "religious" types...but to think adult people actually come up with such bizarre ideas and take them seriously....is disturbing as fuck.

by Anonymousreply 55April 14, 2021 5:53 PM

R26 - you do understand that this is not only for gay men? Neither were the first meds for AIDS as much an experiment meant to kill gay as a desperate attempt by scientists faced with a new deadly virus to curb the spread I the face of an indifferent government.

R51 - are you trying to sell us the idea that an infectious disease specialist told you "fuck no" to taking a vaccine that may save your life? Are you seriously trolling DL that hard and thinking none of us would notice?

by Anonymousreply 56April 14, 2021 8:27 PM

I do know someone who is refusing the vaccine - a nurse in a hospital! They said the vaccine was not properly vetted before distribution.

by Anonymousreply 57April 14, 2021 9:04 PM

Maybe they only had a two-piece suit. Don’t blame it for not being properly vested.

Oh, you said vetted.

by Anonymousreply 58April 14, 2021 9:43 PM
Well before the election Cuomo publicly stated that NY would not be participating in a national vaccine program under the Trump administration.

Let’s be careful we don’t distort the record. You’ve got people like DeFuckto using this against him. What he actually said was NY would not be participating in a national vaccine program under the Trump administration [bold]until it was reviewed by the New York State Department of Health, and they decide it is safe.[/bold]

It was because of this comment that trump initially said NY would not be getting vaccines in a ridiculous attempt to have New Yorkers turn against Cuomo.

by Anonymousreply 59April 14, 2021 9:46 PM
Honest question, if you've had the vaccine why be afraid of those who have not been vaccinated? Isn't that what the jab is supposed to do, protect you from the unvaccinated?

Yes and no. The more the virus spreads, the more opportunities it has to create variants and one of those variants may turn out to be vaccine-resistant.

The object is to stamp it out through vaccines and herd immunity so it has no one to transmit to.

by Anonymousreply 60April 14, 2021 9:48 PM
I can only assume the pastors and church-goers who died didn’t pray hard enough.

WTF??? I fucking GAVE them the brains needed to create those vaccines! And now they want me to do MORE? Enough!

These morons know that I'm the one who created the virus in the first place, right? A failed attempt to rid the earth of these idiots. I'll try harder next time, I guess.

by Anonymousreply 61April 14, 2021 9:59 PM

I got my shot. I don’t care if others don’t, to hell with them if they get sick and die.

by Anonymousreply 62April 14, 2021 10:14 PM

R61, I told them you were too busy, but they insisted.

by Anonymousreply 63April 14, 2021 10:25 PM

R62, I've said this elsewhere: I used to say the same thing, until variants were explained as to why it’s important for everyone who can get vaccinated.

Sooner or later one of these variants could affect you, even though you’re vaccinated, because they’ll get around the vaccine.

In principle, though, I agree with you.

by Anonymousreply 64April 14, 2021 10:28 PM

I got my second Moderna shot yesterday, and I feel like shit today, but I was expecting to, so it may just be me being a drama queen. Both shoulders ache, and this morning I hurt everywhere. I'm feeling very lucky. The only weird thing is that the vaccine center I went to (Kaiser) was only giving second Moderna shots that day, so there were hardly any people there. I hope they aren't running low on supply.

by Anonymousreply 65April 14, 2021 10:39 PM
I got my second Moderna shot yesterday, and I feel like shit today,

Maybe, but you look good. It’s better to look good than to feel good.

by Anonymousreply 66April 14, 2021 10:53 PM

And, r65, your dick will grow bigger. Or is that with Pfizer?

by Anonymousreply 67April 14, 2021 11:12 PM

An 85-year old friend refuses. Says he's leaving his health up to God.

by Anonymousreply 68April 14, 2021 11:31 PM

No, my friends aren’t stupid.

by Anonymousreply 69April 14, 2021 11:42 PM

I haven't gotten it yet. I prefer to wait.

by Anonymousreply 70April 14, 2021 11:49 PM

Very wise move r70. Don't let the Branch Covidians pressure you.

Why is it 'Vaxxers' and 'Anti-Vaxxers' only?

What about those who have had all their vaccines over a lifetime but recognise the global con and crime against humanity which is being perpetrated by these medical inserts and after considering all the evidence choose not to to receive it.

May I suggest what we really have are:

Vaxxers - who take everything on offer including these experimental mNRA genetic therapies

Anti-vaxxers - who take nothing on offer, and...

the Astute - who consider the evidence and make a rational decision on each one

by Anonymousreply 71April 15, 2021 12:01 AM

SURE!

by Anonymousreply 72April 15, 2021 12:06 AM

I don’t care if people don’t get it but they should be required to quarantine until all those who do want to get vaccinated have the opportunity to do so.

by Anonymousreply 73April 15, 2021 12:10 AM

R73 I take the virus seriously. I wear my mask and keep my distance.

I work from home so I am in a privileged situation. I don't need to mix with people.

But I'm not getting the vaccine right now. I'll wait.

by Anonymousreply 74April 15, 2021 12:19 AM

Any friend of mine who conditions our friendship on me taking an experimental medical protocol can keep walking. It’s not ethical to offer participation in drug trials to the general population. The medical profession has gone mad especially in light of the numbers showing no statistically significant change in the overall death rate from all causes since the advent of Covid.

by Anonymousreply 75April 15, 2021 12:38 AM

I'm getting moderna #2 tomorrow. I am actually kind of hoping I feel bad enough to just stay in bed all day and not have to work.

Most everyone I know is going to get vaccinated or is already...except my 75 year old father who listens to conservative talk radio and says, "Everyone is getting sick from it! I'm not taking it." I guess my loser, drug addict step brother also convinced him and his mom that is dangerous. Whatever. I don't talk to my dad much anyway. My sister didn't want to get it but she did and she had zero side effects from either shots. I'm the one who convinced her to get it. A lot of people do not understand basic science and think "Big Pharma" is out to get them. When you do your research, you learn that this vaccine is really amazing and the technology behind it is the wave of the future. I'm honored to get the vaccine and excited to get the second tomorrow. I am so grateful to the scientists who developed it.

by Anonymousreply 76April 15, 2021 12:41 AM

Got my 2nd Pfizer. Reaction same as first. Slightly sore arm. That's it folks.

by Anonymousreply 77April 15, 2021 12:42 AM

People who don't do their research or don't trust the doctors who are all urging people to take the vaccine are complete and utter fools. But hey, they are all smarter than doctors and virologists and I'm sure they all have their PHD's, right?

Fucking idiot Americans.

by Anonymousreply 78April 15, 2021 12:45 AM

That’s because none of these vaccines have been properly vetted or tested. Even the fucking evening news admits they are experimental.

by Anonymousreply 81April 15, 2021 1:03 AM

Why are vaccinated people being told to continue wearing masks and refrain from going to restaurants etc.?

by Anonymousreply 82April 15, 2021 1:04 AM

YouTube removed a video posted by some of the most well credentialed infectious disease and epidemiology doctors in the United States because it doesn’t conform to their “we’re all going to die of Covid“ bullshit. The news is no longer informative, it is pure propaganda.

——

YouTube claimed they removed the video because 'it contradicts the consensus of local and global health authorities,' yet this roundtable was led by world-renowned doctors and epidemiologists from Oxford, Stanford, and Harvard, all of whom are eminently qualified to speak on the global health crisis," McCloud said. "Good public health policy should include a variety of scientific and technical expertise, and YouTube’s decision to remove this video suppresses productive dialogue of these complex issues."

Dr. Jay Bhattacharya of Stanford University, one of the scientists on the panel, said this "was a policy forum, in which it is appropriate to consider both the benefits and costs of a policy (child masking) when making judgments and recommendations."

"YouTube’s censorship of our discussion is contrary to American democratic norms of free expression," the professor said in an email. "It is also a violation of basic standards of scientific conduct, which stand in opposition to unreasoned silencing of contrary views and require the free exchange of ideas."

Earlier, AIER editorial director Jeffrey A. Tucker insisted in an article Wednesday on the think tank’s website that YouTube censored DeSantis and the scientists and called it “the latest attack on public health information.”

Many public health experts, however, have accused Bhattacharya and the other scientists on the panel with DeSantis — former Trump White House coronavirus advisor Dr. Scott Atlas; epidemiologist Sunetra Gupta; and Dr. Martin Kulldorff — of spreading public health misinformation. NBC News has also reached out to Tucker, Atlas, Gupta and Kulldorff for comment.

NBC News did not see the video before it was removed. Tucker first reported its removal.

But based on a transcript provided by YouTube, it appears the participants ran afoul of the platform’s standards when DeSantis asked whether children in school should be wearing masks and Kulldorff replied, “Uh, children should not wear face masks, no. They don’t need it for their own protection, and they don’t need it for protecting other people either.”

Apparently the government is trying to see how many people are fucking retarded and will do whatever it tells them to do.

The failures of the vaccines, and the facemask policies, and the quarantines, are going to blow back ballistically on every psychopathic politician that supported them.

Every politician that supported lockdowns needs to be charged with mass murder.

More people are going to die of malnutrition, delayed medical treatment, and suicide, than fucking COVID-19.

Bring back the guillotines.

by Anonymousreply 84April 15, 2021 1:13 AM

"That’s because none of these vaccines have been properly vetted or tested. Even the fucking evening news admits they are experimental."

You are a nut job. Do your research. This type of vaccine delivery has been in play since the late 90's. The vaccine for this was developed in February of 2020 and it has been tested and vetted.

by Anonymousreply 85April 15, 2021 1:14 AM

"The failures of the vaccines, and the facemask policies, and the quarantines, are going to blow back ballistically on every psychopathic politician that supported them."

Yes, look at Israel. They have the highest number vaccinated and their case numbers dropped to less than 200 a day.

by Anonymousreply 88April 15, 2021 1:17 AM

Masks are useless. But there is a big difference between complying to put a face diaper on (which you can then remove) vs injecting an experimental substance which will have unknown and permanent effects. That’s the line in the sand for many people.

Every single on of my social circle and immediate family has finished the second dose of Pfizer or Moderna while others got Janssen/J&J last month. We are all fully vaccinated.

Even all thirteen of my co-workers (ages 19-40) are done. Today was two weeks out from the last person's second dose, so we met up at work today and had lunch. (We are still working remotely and it was really, really nice to see everybody in person.)

So much pressure to take the vaccine. Everyone who is still hesitating is according to dl and lots of other social and other media a loser, a freak, an idiot, a what not all. People also can't be sure what kind of vaccine they are getting in each individual case, e.g. unemployed people and people on basic security should be extra careful, and people who still have some hope to have children, especially when they have been irregularly employed and similarly should be careful, but also for people who don't hope much to have still children and are not high achievers, e.g. when your fertility is considerably decreased, it also negatively affects your energy and psyche and work ability, I guess.

E.g. there is a rumor that the vaccines for a few decades affect the DNA, which is also a problem for people who still hope to have children, also that the vaccines for a few decades affect the minds. E.g. there are also allegedly things in products for poor people that make them die earlier and less fertile. In times of crisis it is especially good to be part of the 1% and the 15%; people who are disposable should be extra careful with vaccines, big data knows nearly everything about you. Eugenics and social engineering are still practiced, also global assimilation and oligarchisations of the few non oligarchy spots left.

Don't know how much they wanna know about side effects et. al. after such short a time either, even five years is pretty short, 10 years is at least considerably better. In my Western country it isn't easy to get a vaccine, many people have to wait a long time.

I am 6 days out from injection 2 of Pfizer vaccine. Had no pain or symptoms after first dose 2nd dose seems to have a different symptom every day. It seems to have run its course, and today, Wednesday, Day 6, things have settled down. Last night I actually slept through the night for the first time in months. During the 6 days my symptoms varied in severity. Had absolutely no pain with the actual injections, To those who are still hesitant, GET THE SHOT.

Her children both got the vaccine without any prompting once they were eligible. Her husband got it, and he is a libertarian asshat.

R172... um, biden and harris shown on national tv doing so? oh wait, don't tell me it wasn't the vaccine, it was something else, possibly nothing just air huh?....and those administering it and the place and hospital are all "in on it" too?!....

by Anonymousreply 174April 19, 2021 12:58 AM

I never get the flu shot either, OP. The stats are bad. The problem is that there really is not a good pattern on who might get sick with COVID. Just because you are young and healthy doesn't mean you won't end up in a hospital on a ventilator. And even if you get mildly ill, the long-term conditions are still not well identified. There can be lung, cardiac, fatigue and others.

I work for a federal agency that awards disability. My agency is monitoring the developments regarding lingering effects post-Covid. It may be another year or more before experts know what to expect, but these are likely to affect a lot of people, maybe permanently. None of that is the case with the vaccine.

The best way for her to determine whether the vaccine is worth her time is not to take a whiny, hope-for-the-best approach. She needs to evaluate her risk. Look at the serious side effects like the unusual blood clots and compare them to other events such as motor vehicle injury probabilities, lightning strike probabilities and other events. These are easy to look up. Then she will understand the real risk of the vaccine. It is important to have this information to make an informed decision. There is risk with the vaccine, but it is relatively low compared to the disease and to other possible life events.

by Anonymousreply 175April 19, 2021 1:15 AM

by Anonymousreply 180April 19, 2021 2:30 AM

For our "but it isn't FDA approved!" loon:
The United States FDA has made the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine available under an emergency access mechanism called an EUA. The EUA is supported by a Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) declaration that circumstances exist to justify the emergency use of drugs and biological products during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine has not undergone the same type of review as an FDA-approved or cleared product. FDA may issue an EUA when certain criteria are met, which includes that there are no adequate, approved, available alternatives. In addition, the FDA decision is based on the totality of scientific evidence available showing that the product may be effective to prevent COVID-19 during the COVID-19 pandemic and that the known and potential benefits of the product outweigh the known and potential risks of the product. All of these criteria must be met to allow for the product to be used in the treatment of patients during the COVID-19 pandemic.

And that, children, is why the J&J vaccine was "paused." If the risks outweigh the benefits, the FDA stops use to figure out why. If the eeeevillll gubmint was trying to kill us or even just inject us with 5G nanobillgates, wouldn't they just keep going despite 6 (six) people out of 7 million doses injected getting blood clots and one death as a result? Who would even notice 6 people developing esoteric issues out of 7 million if they weren't keeping track? Why keep track if the real reason is to poison as many as possible?

R187 thanks to a badly-tested BP pill (combined with an acne drug, toxic combo) I was given as a teen, I ended up with vitamin A poisoning, liver damage, and deep depression that drove me near-suicidal.

The side-effects I had while on it were horrific—cracking as bleeding skin, arid mouth, red blood shot eyes like a Sith, alopecia, alarming weight loss, no affect and dead emotions, and very poor circulation (wouldn’t surprise me if I was in danger of clotting). Once I stopped taking it, I had other side-effects that lasted for years, such as thinning hair, aching bones and cracking joints like an elderly person, lingering depression that worsened with every period, and some damage to my mind that I still haven’t identified (it made me feel lobotomised, less intelligent somehow). I’ve only recovered in the last five years, with the help of a diet overhaul and a low-stress lifestyle, and I still don’t have the full IQ, healthy strong skin, or lovely thickness of mane I used to. My adolescence was a horror-show due to those tablets, and I lost out on a lot. On a minor note, I also can’t eat much food that is high in vitamin A anymore, so no cod liver oil or avocado toast for me.

Never again. Lucky for me, I’m about 95% woman-leaning bisexual, so I just have to stay safe, keep out of shady situations, and avoid sleeping with the tiny handful of men I’ve ever been attracted to.
