Was it proven in your mind?

Yes, but the time awarded and served was not in line....she was used as an example because she was a celebrity.

by Anonymousreply 1April 12, 2021 8:48 PM

Proved beyond a reasonable doubt.

WHET her gay stockbroker?

by Anonymousreply 2April 12, 2021 8:48 PM

Yes but it seems like a parking ticket compared with the unpunished crimes of 2008, 2016, and 2020.

by Anonymousreply 3April 12, 2021 8:48 PM

Do you care to elaborate, R3, or is this like a troll mad libs exercise? Anyone can imprint anything they want on your listing of dates.

2008?

by Anonymousreply 4April 12, 2021 8:53 PM

Earlier occurrence of some kind of media cancel culture. Martha somewhat recovered from this, but never got as popular as she was before the stock scandal.

If the FBI thought Martha Stewart was guilty of insider trading, then she would have been charged with it. The Daily News article is clear:

[quote]Her homecoming marks a new beginning for Stewart, who was convicted of conspiracy, obstruction of justice and lying to a federal agent on March 5, 2004 - almost a year to the day she left prison with two boxes of possessions.

She was questioned by the FBI as part of an official investigation to an insider trading scheme. And in response to the questions posed to her by FBI agents, she lied to them. The lies she told to the FBI concealed incriminating facts that were part of her personal knowledge of the matter.

That's all that was charged. That's all that was proven. And if she had simply told the truth, as required by law, she might have spared herself a world of embarrassment and five months on ice. She was never charged with insider trading.

Her K-Mart products were GOOD!

by Anonymousreply 7April 12, 2021 8:58 PM

And yet Trump has yet to see a day in prison. What a country.

by Anonymousreply 8April 12, 2021 9:46 PM

She's a female. You know lots of men like Dump are guilty of far worse.

by Anonymousreply 9April 12, 2021 9:59 PM

She went to jail for lying to the FBI. And Trump is going to jail for lying on tax returns as well as mortgage and insurance documents. Easy prosecution of clear cut illegal actions.

by Anonymousreply 10April 12, 2021 10:02 PM

We'll see if Trump ever does time. He should die in prison but I doubt it.

R7 I have a heavy 8" stainless steel pan from her line at KMart, well made and heavy, used it this morning.

by Anonymousreply 12April 12, 2021 10:35 PM

R7 We loved Martha Stewart Everyday stuff. We use a large MSE Porcelain bowl for our holiday potato salad. My mother loves her zigzag footed coffee mugs. She needs new ones, as these are pushing 20+ years. Outside of expensive Wedgwoof and Pfaltzgraff there is no similar design on the cheap like Martha was.

It was a financial crime, R4. 2008 was the Global Financial Crisis, where every banking crook got off scot-free. It's no degrees of Kevin Bacon.

I'm guessing the release of Britney's "Womanizer" might be more your speed. Sorry to have confused you. I imagine that happens a lot.

The democrats, and Clinton in particular, couldn't stand a strong independent woman, so they made an example of her.
