Report: Trump Wants DeSantis As 2024 Running Mate

What is taking the Manhattan DA so long to charge Trump????

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 106April 13, 2021 3:09 PM

Matt Gaetz will be their Secretary of Sleaze.

by Anonymousreply 1April 11, 2021 8:39 PM

Running? Running from what?

by Anonymousreply 2April 11, 2021 8:46 PM

R2, I don’t know but those two fatasses can’t run very far.

by Anonymousreply 3April 11, 2021 8:48 PM

DeSantis will likely be the nominee but he’s an idiot if he signs on with Trump or Pence. He fails miserably on that ticket.

by Anonymousreply 4April 11, 2021 8:49 PM

OP - Financial crimes can take longer to prosecute because there's so much evidence that needs to be examined. Also, these crimes happened in the past so there's a lot of digging to do.

by Anonymousreply 5April 11, 2021 8:50 PM

It will either be Trump or DeSantis at the top of the ticket in 2024. All depends on if Trump wants to pass the mantle or try again. He'll probably wait to see how the midterms go. If the Republicans gain back both chambers then the election won't matter in 2024-they will be able to choose who wins.

We are in serious, serious trouble if dems lose the house in 2022.

by Anonymousreply 6April 11, 2021 8:51 PM

I think this decade will be sad.

by Anonymousreply 7April 11, 2021 8:57 PM

DeSantis is HORRIBLE, but he's a really good politician. Obviously no one can predict how things will be in four years but we laugh and dismiss DeSantis at our own peril. He will be a formidable candidate.

by Anonymousreply 8April 11, 2021 8:57 PM

I hate this. We're getting a little break now.. that's all. It's not over.

by Anonymousreply 9April 11, 2021 9:04 PM

This is what I see happening: John James will win Michigan (despite losing twice) in 22; DeSantis will win 24. Both Trump Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 10April 11, 2021 9:05 PM

Those two, hell even just DeathSantis, will turn America into an utter Wasteland if successful. 2022 better not shit the bed!

by Anonymousreply 11April 11, 2021 9:07 PM

People who are waiting for the Manhattan DA or the SDNY to save us from Trump are kidding themselves. Trump is not going to prison. All the crimes he's being investigated for are financial crimes that tie up the courts for years and no one ever goes to jail for financial crimes. Trump will likely be dead before that whole investigation is complete. And it doesn't matter anyway, the people who vote for him don't give a shit about any criminal charges or financial crimes.

by Anonymousreply 12April 11, 2021 9:08 PM

Democrats had better drop this woke shit and fast! I demand it!

by Anonymousreply 13April 11, 2021 9:08 PM

R5...NY has spoken about this investigation for some time. How much more time do they need?? Another Muller type bullshit baloney.

by Anonymousreply 14April 11, 2021 9:09 PM

NY made it sound like they got the goods on trump...so where are they??

by Anonymousreply 15April 11, 2021 9:09 PM

*Mueller

by Anonymousreply 16April 11, 2021 9:11 PM

I wouldn’t get too worked up about 2024. A lot of water under the bridge till then. But I’ll bet Internet money Trump will not be on any ticket in 2024. He won’t be in jail either because if found guilty he’ll keep the appeals going for years. Wait patiently until the law suits that will consume him commence.

by Anonymousreply 17April 11, 2021 9:11 PM

Too busy taking down Andy Cuomo RN, America! Trump gets another mulligan, sorry!

by Anonymousreply 18April 11, 2021 9:11 PM

Someone needs to steal the Equality Act legislature and shred it. 😉 Please Democrats don’t move forward with it!!

by Anonymousreply 19April 11, 2021 9:11 PM

This DeSantis is worse than Trump, yes?

by Anonymousreply 20April 11, 2021 9:13 PM

R13: Absolutely. Wokeness is why the Democratic Party is vulnerable and they never learn their lesson: go woke go broke. I'm particularly worried if Biden is history by 2024 and it's Kamala v. DeSantis.

by Anonymousreply 21April 11, 2021 9:13 PM

how is trump still news when biden is president?

by Anonymousreply 22April 11, 2021 9:14 PM

Trump will not run again if there is any chance that he could lose. He will only run if it's assured that state legislators and congress will be able to orchestrate any result they want. So far that's the case with Georgia. We'll see if that law holds up and what other states follow their lead.

by Anonymousreply 23April 11, 2021 9:14 PM

[quote] Someone needs to steal the Equality Act legislature and shred it. 😉 Please Democrats don’t move forward with it!!

You want up deny gays protection. Fuck off.

by Anonymousreply 24April 11, 2021 9:16 PM

Georgia will be the bellweather on if states can do pretty much what they want with election rules...especially the red states.

by Anonymousreply 25April 11, 2021 9:19 PM

Speaking of DeSantis...

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 26April 11, 2021 9:20 PM

It's a monumental task to defeat an incumbent president, unless the economy is in shambles(Carter), or they are embroiled in scandal(Trump), which is why it almost never happens.

by Anonymousreply 27April 11, 2021 9:21 PM

For R24 : R19 is probably not anti-gay, “only” anti-trans. That’s a very popular stance here on DL which I do not espouse.

by Anonymousreply 28April 11, 2021 9:23 PM

R24, that’s correct - the trans-hating freaks hate the T so much that they would rather see *all* of us deprived of civil rights.

They’re *that* depraved.

by Anonymousreply 29April 11, 2021 9:24 PM

[quote] I don’t know but those two fatasses can’t run very far.

Don’t be so quick. You never seen them when the ice cream truck comes into the neighborhood.

by Anonymousreply 30April 11, 2021 9:24 PM

R21, Democratic Party identification is at an all-time high

R13, most normal people think the far right is a bigger problem than "woke" people. Are you Marjorie Taylor Greene?

by Anonymousreply 31April 11, 2021 9:25 PM

If DeathSatan should - by some malign twist of fate (or, more likely, outright theft) - become president or even VP, I don’t like humanity’s chances of ever defeating COVID-19.

by Anonymousreply 32April 11, 2021 9:25 PM

... or COVID-21 or COVID-24 or COVID-25.

by Anonymousreply 33April 11, 2021 9:26 PM

[quote] Georgia will be the bellweather

Oh, dear!

by Anonymousreply 34April 11, 2021 9:26 PM

[quote]is probably not anti-gay, “only” anti-trans. That’s a very popular stance here on DL which I do not espouse.

I AM!

But maybe DeSantis is the way to go. Sad!

by Anonymousreply 35April 11, 2021 9:27 PM

[quote] Trump Wants DeSantis

Psssst. Ahem. Look over here! I didn’t 25th ya!

by Anonymousreply 36April 11, 2021 9:28 PM

[quote]most normal people think the far right is a bigger problem than "woke" people. Are you Marjorie Taylor Greene?

😢 oh well.

by Anonymousreply 37April 11, 2021 9:28 PM

Eat a toilet full of COVID shit and die, r35.

by Anonymousreply 38April 11, 2021 9:28 PM

Trump is going to be the downfall of the Republican party. He will not win in 2024. And yet, if he's not at the top of the ticket, he's going to be swiping at them Non-Stop. It's going to be a delicious shit show to watch.

Now, can we not talk about him until 2024?

by Anonymousreply 39April 11, 2021 9:28 PM

*bellwether...for dearest R34..

by Anonymousreply 40April 11, 2021 9:30 PM

WHET Mikey Pence ?

One term wonder?

by Anonymousreply 41April 11, 2021 9:31 PM

Luv ya, r40!

by Anonymousreply 42April 11, 2021 9:31 PM

I’m here, r41!

*waves*

by Anonymousreply 43April 11, 2021 9:32 PM

Gaetz is lawyering up with members of Trump's legal posse.

by Anonymousreply 44April 11, 2021 9:34 PM

Let Tish James and Cy Vance, the Georgia grand juries, and Merrick Garland slowly gather evidence and build rock solid cases against the Dump Crime Syndicate. The longer time goes by (and I'm talking months not years), it'll give Dump and his family a false sense of security, like they're getting away with it like they've always done. Then, BLAM!, an unexpected 6AM no knock raid on MAG-A-LARDO with Diaper Don pulled out in the front lawn to be handcuffed and humiliated.

(I know this most likely won't happen but a boy can dream!)

by Anonymousreply 45April 11, 2021 9:34 PM

^^You have a good imagination....

by Anonymousreply 46April 11, 2021 9:36 PM

NYC's "goods" on Trump are buried right alongside the body of Jimmy Hoffa.

by Anonymousreply 47April 11, 2021 9:36 PM

I've been listening to him speak lately..... and he's very interesting. DeSantis has to be the slickest right-wing major politician I've ever heard. Trump's policies without the unhinged anger. Dems should be worried.

by Anonymousreply 48April 11, 2021 9:37 PM

[quote] NYC's "goods" on Trump are buried right alongside the body of Jimmy Hoffa.

They found him?!

by Anonymousreply 49April 11, 2021 9:38 PM

Reports say that Trump still has a strong grip on the Republican Party.

Probably, by the balls.

by Anonymousreply 50April 11, 2021 9:39 PM

DeSantis just barely won the governor's race in 2018 by less than half a percentage point. Since then the rest of the country has watched him mishandle Florida's response to COVID. Why would he be a shoo-in for president in 2024?

by Anonymousreply 51April 11, 2021 9:43 PM

R51 Also didn't Florida just have some radioactive sewage pond bust loose last week? An environmental disaster in a state heavily dependent on tourism won't play well in campaign ads. Not to mention selling covid vaccines to out-of-state donors. Plus there could be more to come out in the Matt Gaetz investigation and DeSantis was buddy-buddy with Matt. I wouldn't get too worked up over him as a Presidential candidate. Besides Joe would kick his ass in a debate, like he did with Trump, Paul Ryan, and Sarah Palin.

by Anonymousreply 52April 11, 2021 9:46 PM

R51 That was the year of the blue wave, and he still won. Now he should have the advantage of incumbency and of it not being a blue wave year.

by Anonymousreply 53April 11, 2021 9:49 PM

Because unless Biden is still available the Democrats will be running a non-white female from California with...who knows who the Far Left will insist on. All the reasons Joe won will be GONE with a Kamala/Far Left ticket but that's what we'll probably get stuck with. Even if the Economy is going well, the election was too close.

by Anonymousreply 54April 11, 2021 9:55 PM

But thing is that Kamala was never far-left. She reminded me a lot of Geraldine Ferraro, who I love.

by Anonymousreply 55April 11, 2021 10:00 PM

[quote] Too busy taking down Andy Cuomo RN, America! Trump gets another mulligan, sorry!

I didn't know Cuomo was a registered nurse! No wonder he did so well with Covid. Well, after the nursing home bit.

by Anonymousreply 56April 11, 2021 10:04 PM

So the naysayers are now saying Kamala is a far left wacko? I thought she was supposed to be a cop arresting people for minor pot violations. You trolls need to get your stories straight.

by Anonymousreply 57April 11, 2021 10:27 PM

Sorry R54 but in 2008 a non-white with less experience than Kamala won the EC handily.

by Anonymousreply 58April 11, 2021 10:29 PM

I'm sure Trump gets off on humiliating Pence by not wanting him for a second term VP.

I don't mind it so much myself.

by Anonymousreply 59April 11, 2021 10:46 PM

2024 is a long time off.

Especially if you're a morbidly obese 75 year old man with an unhealthy lifestyle and a whole lot of anger and stress.

by Anonymousreply 60April 11, 2021 10:49 PM

It would be to the benefit of Democrats to drop the woke. This will infuriate the Yaas Kweens, but Democrats can tell them to fuck off. Democrats losing the House and probably some Governor races and DeSantis winning in 24 will only embolden the Yaas Kweens, which is what I absolutely don’t want. The goal is to get rid of Yaas Kweens and Republicans.

by Anonymousreply 61April 11, 2021 10:53 PM

R55/R57 I read R54 as Kamala will be the nominee - but will be saddled with a far-left vp candidate to appease the fringe left/bernie-bro/wokesters. Not that Kamala is far-left.

by Anonymousreply 62April 11, 2021 11:01 PM

If that happens R62, that’s sad because then both Republicans and the woke win. The woke will multiply like gremlins and you’ll have even more Yas Kweens than before and life will be absolute hell.

by Anonymousreply 63April 11, 2021 11:05 PM

DeSantis won't settle for VP, he wants President.

by Anonymousreply 64April 11, 2021 11:29 PM

Yes, 62, that's what I meant. I'm sorry that I was un-clear. Thank you for explaining it.

by Anonymousreply 65April 12, 2021 12:00 AM

Dump will be too old by then but he will hang in there for the cult's attention and the grifting opportunities!

It seems like DeSantis will be the next GOP Presidential candidate according to what all the media talking heads are saying.

by Anonymousreply 66April 12, 2021 12:12 AM

R59 - are we really sure that Pence would even want to be Dump's VP again?

Remember the gallows they built and Dump encouraging them to "Hang Mike Pence!" between the line? And then afterwards, they didn't speak for a long time after the insurrection? 8 days wasn't it? The writing is on the wall. There's no way Pence would do it even if VP was offered and I don't think Dump would offer VP to Pence.

by Anonymousreply 67April 12, 2021 12:16 AM

[Quote] Absolutely. Wokeness is why the Democratic Party is vulnerable and they never learn their lesson: go woke go broke.

...except that the Dems just won the Presidency and both houses

by Anonymousreply 68April 12, 2021 12:21 AM

I know R68. It's like these 2 or 3 DLers have a republican brain & can't grasp how the last election cycle went.

by Anonymousreply 69April 12, 2021 12:26 AM

It was a very narrow win. Gary Peters barely beat an unknown.

by Anonymousreply 70April 12, 2021 12:28 AM

Anybody who thought NY was gonna take down Trump when they had literal decades to do so....

by Anonymousreply 71April 12, 2021 12:28 AM

DeSantis is so big and muscular. I would love to bury my face in his pecs and run my hands through his sexy hair.

by Anonymousreply 72April 12, 2021 12:29 AM

Big and muscular? Hon, that's table muscle.

by Anonymousreply 73April 12, 2021 12:31 AM

Trump is not going to run for a damn thing in 2024. This is just one of his tricks to string the cretins along and keep them sending him money.

by Anonymousreply 74April 12, 2021 12:32 AM

Ugh r62 does it really have to be her? Just about anyone would be better...

by Anonymousreply 75April 12, 2021 12:32 AM

A lot of concern trolls on this thread.

by Anonymousreply 76April 12, 2021 12:39 AM

[quote]Gary Peters barely beat an unknown.

Give it up, R70. James had run against Stabenow in 2018 (lost with 46%) so had the benefit of a previous statewide race. He was as well known to the MI electorate in 2020 as any candidate.

by Anonymousreply 77April 12, 2021 12:41 AM

John James had no platform and almost beat Gary Peters. Better?

by Anonymousreply 78April 12, 2021 12:48 AM

Correct r74

by Anonymousreply 79April 12, 2021 12:51 AM

I’ve never seen anyone question motives as much as DL does. R76 is an example. Why does it matter what someone’s motives are? Can’t we just deal with what they say?

by Anonymousreply 80April 12, 2021 12:52 AM

Trump commented that DeSantis is pure muscle.💪🏼

by Anonymousreply 81April 12, 2021 12:54 AM

R80, I'm talking about the handwringers who say nothing except to prophesy doom in '22 (or '24, or '26...). And those who give a one-sided view of the facts on the ground aren't much better.

As in 2018 and 2020, WE have the numbers. Focus on defeating the Republicans' suppression and getting the votes out, as in 2018 and 2020.

by Anonymousreply 82April 12, 2021 1:01 AM

[quote] both were written by the same NYT Fla reporter.

[quote] is that her job now, to promote the GOP gov?

[quote] fun fact: the GOP controls Fla. Gov., Fla House. Fla. Senate.

[quote] Fla is currently facing a $3B budget shortfall.

[quote] NYT couldn't find space for that in profile of DeSantis political "competence"

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 83April 12, 2021 1:45 AM

I bet they made a deal with him to not prosecute if he left the WH quietly.

by Anonymousreply 84April 12, 2021 2:17 AM

[quote] DeSantis is so big and muscular. I would love to bury my face in his pecs

R72 is wearing Beer Goggles.

by Anonymousreply 85April 12, 2021 3:55 AM

The only thing Ron DeSantis will be winning is a Barney Rubble look-alike contest.

by Anonymousreply 86April 12, 2021 5:28 AM

The next republican president will be worse than trump. It always works that way.

by Anonymousreply 87April 12, 2021 7:23 AM

R82 Just keep doing popular things like stimulus, minimum wage, and infrastructure and don't do unpopular things like trans bathrooms & amnesty.

The Republican brand is getting more toxic by the day, but people will vote for them if the Dems go overly woke.

Just my two cents.

by Anonymousreply 88April 12, 2021 7:32 AM

Biden didn’t win because of woke politics. Covid helped Biden win. If Covid hadn’t happened and the economy had remained on pace, Trump would have won. The woke politics lost Dems congressional seats and kept them from winning the senate on election night. Some here are so blinded by their party affiliation to realize woke politics is a losing issue for Dems. Democrats have said it themselves. I voted for Biden, but the woke stuff is alienating me.

by Anonymousreply 89April 12, 2021 7:38 AM

With Vance retiring as prosecutor and the mess Cuomo has manged to create for himself the optimism about NY prosecutions are overly optimistic. It seems like 2 odd coincidences. If Cuomo is replaced by a GOP governor, he CAN pardon Trump for any NYS offenses no matter what the AG does.

by Anonymousreply 90April 12, 2021 7:58 AM

The Democrats have both houses...but just barely, with the Senate...and they lost Congressional seats, but still hold the majority. To me, that's not a good sign. trump lost because many (saner) repubs voted against him, but still down voted for republicans. I know...it's a hard truth and I don't like it either. I agree that covid really hurt trump. Otherwise, I think he would have won.

by Anonymousreply 91April 12, 2021 11:16 AM

R67, are you crazy?

That spineless weasel would bend over forwards if trump told him to. He didn’t do shit after the insurrection and still—to this day—supports him.

Of course he’d be VP if asked.

by Anonymousreply 92April 12, 2021 11:39 AM

[quote] I bet they made a deal with him to not prosecute if he left the WH quietly.

I don’t get this line of thinking and it was around in January.

He lost the election. He was leaving the White House one way or another, quietly or noisily. There would be no incentive to make a deal for what he had no choice but to do.

by Anonymousreply 93April 12, 2021 11:41 AM

And DeSantis is so fucking dumb he probably thinks him being Jabba's running mate in 2024 is really going to happen. He's not smart enough to see this is just part of Trump's massive con game to grift more money from other idiots who believe anything that comes out of Trump's pie hole.

by Anonymousreply 94April 12, 2021 11:48 AM

Neither of these two have any future in the White House. Mary Trump says that her uncle Donald will never actually run again, because losing one time was too painful and he could never put himself in a position to have it happen to him again. However, he will FUNDRAISE, because that's the best money he's ever made in his life. He'll tease a candidacy for as long as he can to keep the $$$ coming in from the suckers.

By the time the final body count is in from the Florida Covid experience, Ron DeSantis will be just another filthy memory.

by Anonymousreply 95April 12, 2021 12:48 PM

The more Datalounge laughs at DeSantis the more I realize he’ll win in 24. 😢

by Anonymousreply 96April 12, 2021 12:57 PM

I didn't realize our mirth had such dire consequences, r96.

by Anonymousreply 97April 12, 2021 2:58 PM

I’ve been trying to do that since I was a teenager.

by Anonymousreply 98April 12, 2021 4:47 PM

Whatever Datalounge says the opposite happens.

by Anonymousreply 99April 12, 2021 4:52 PM

DeSantis gives me bukkake bottom vibes.

by Anonymousreply 100April 12, 2021 4:57 PM

Speaking of disgusting Florida politicians:

Florida senator and possible 2024 presidential candidate Rick Scott presented Trump with the National Republican Senatorial Committee's "Champion for Freedom" award today.

This comes following a weekend in which Trump called Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell a "dumb son of a bitch" and a "stone-cold loser."

by Anonymousreply 101April 12, 2021 4:59 PM

Amazing, considering McConnell won and trump lost.

by Anonymousreply 102April 12, 2021 7:33 PM

[Quote] Biden didn’t win because of woke politics. Covid helped Biden win. If Covid hadn’t happened and the economy had remained on pace, Trump would have won. The woke politics lost Dems congressional seats and kept them from winning the senate on election night.

Actually, every single one of the 99 Dem congresspeople who ran on single payer healthcare won and 101 of the 106 who ran on a Green New Deal won. So “woke” politics was a winner for Dems.

by Anonymousreply 103April 13, 2021 2:36 PM

The Democrats won Florida against all odds because of woke politics. It brought out the the huge minority vote, so much so that the GOP moved to create news laws to restrict that very vote

by Anonymousreply 104April 13, 2021 2:52 PM

If the United States as a country was into woke politics, Bernie wouldn't have gotten his ass handed to him. But he did, Blanche. HE DID.

by Anonymousreply 105April 13, 2021 3:02 PM

Wow, he's a rough 42. Especially for a fat guy.
