Attendance At Prince Philip’s Funeral

The Middletons in. Boris Johnson sends regrets.

Supposedly they can only have 30, so who will be left out?

by Anonymousreply 600April 14, 2021 11:05 AM

Fergie.

by Anonymousreply 1April 11, 2021 1:16 PM

Who cares? Also: who cares?

by Anonymousreply 2April 11, 2021 1:23 PM

Obviously you r2 since you took the time to post.

by Anonymousreply 3April 11, 2021 1:24 PM

I haven't confirmed!

Will any of the servants be allowed to attend?

by Anonymousreply 5April 11, 2021 1:26 PM

R3 The Internet is how old now? And people still jumping into the comments with “who cares.”

by Anonymousreply 6April 11, 2021 1:39 PM

Kate's parents?

Nonsense.

by Anonymousreply 7April 11, 2021 1:46 PM

Harry will back to England but he won't be at the funeral - self-isolating persona non grata. People don't want to someone else's grandson throwing temper tantrums at the future kings.

by Anonymousreply 8April 11, 2021 1:54 PM

I think we can safely assume the Queen approves the guest list. Interesting that the Middletons are given that honor. It's sure to frost certain people's balls, haha.

by Anonymousreply 9April 11, 2021 1:56 PM

Harry's supposed to go back to the UK only to watch his grandfather's funeral on the telly? What utter nonsense.

He'll be there - unless Meghsy orders him back to Montecito Castle on various reasons, of course.

by Anonymousreply 10April 11, 2021 1:57 PM

Only people who cared enough about him to be in the country when he fell ill and those who didn’t bash him and his family on TV when he was most vulnerable.

by Anonymousreply 11April 11, 2021 1:58 PM

Only 30 guests are permitted (owing to UK COVID restrictions). The Queen will certainly follow the directives of the UK government.

Queen + 4 children + 8 grandchildren + 10 great-grandchildren = 23. And that is just counting the direct heirs (and not any spouses).

We know Archie Mountbatten-Windsor is not coming, so that is one more space. Add the spouses the kids (Camilla and Sophie) plus Duchess Kate gets us close to capacity at 25 if the rest of the grands and grand-grands attended. Boris Johnson had to be invited (as the PM), but his gracious regret means that one spouse of a grandkid can attend.

I highly doubt that any non-relative will make it into the Elite 30.

by Anonymousreply 12April 11, 2021 2:07 PM

It seems appropriate for the Middletons to be there, though it might not have been a foregone conclusion. They're co-grandparents with the Cornwalls, and everyone likes Kate, as far as I know.

by Anonymousreply 13April 11, 2021 2:08 PM

I don't think any of the great-grandchildren will be there.

They're pretty young, all of them - some of them are actually newborns. I'm talking about Eugenie's baby son and Zara's baby son. Both of them where named in honour of Philip (August Philip, Lucas Philip respectively).

by Anonymousreply 14April 11, 2021 2:13 PM

Let's take a headcount so we know how many seats are available

The Queen

The Vicar (possibly others to help with the service)

Charles & Camilla

Anne & Timothy

Andrew

Edward & Sophie

William & Kate (George for photo purposes?)

Harry

Zara & Mike

Peter

Beatrice & Edoardo

Eugenie & Jack

Louise

James

Mike & Carole Brady-Middleton

That makes at least 23+

Will HM and Philip be buried together, or will it have to wait until she dies?

by Anonymousreply 16April 11, 2021 2:14 PM

[quote]Will HM and Philip be buried together, or will it have to wait until she dies?

He will be stuffed and stood outside the gates of Buckingham Palace so that tourists can take a picture with him.

by Anonymousreply 17April 11, 2021 2:20 PM

Philip will be temporarily interred in the Royal Vault.

After The Queen's death, he's supposed to be reburied in King George VI's vault alongside his parents-in-law, his sister-in-law and his wife.

by Anonymousreply 18April 11, 2021 2:20 PM

I don't think the vicar and other clergy are included in the 30.

by Anonymousreply 19April 11, 2021 2:21 PM

This is The Royal Vault.

Yes, actually. Philip's private secretary is going.

by Anonymousreply 21April 11, 2021 2:30 PM

[quote]Will HM and Philip be buried together, or will it have to wait until she dies?

No Rose, she's going in the coffin with him next weekend.

by Anonymousreply 22April 11, 2021 2:31 PM

Harry will attend via "special feed" sitting in a bedroom in the castle with a TV tray of McD chicken nuggets in front of him so he doesn't go wandering.

by Anonymousreply 23April 11, 2021 2:32 PM

There's no reason why the elder Middletons would be invited. This is not a wedding--this has nothing to do with them.

I also don't see it likely Eduardo and Jack would be invited. if Mike Tindall is, it's only because he's especially close to Philip.

None of the great-grandchildren will be invited, not even George. This is not a photo opportunity.

There will be a few of Philip's close friends and associates, like Lady Penelope Brabourne, who is also a relative, and his private secretary.

He was close to the queen's royal cousins, so expect the Kents, Prince and Princess Michael, and Princess Alexandra. The Gloucesters are the next generation, but they are the only other royals, so they will be invited too.

by Anonymousreply 24April 11, 2021 2:33 PM

They are also using his personal staff as pallbearers instead of the armed forces that are more traditional, they don't count towards the 30 attendee limit.

by Anonymousreply 25April 11, 2021 2:37 PM

It would be nice if Harry used the opportunity to beg Philip for forgiveness.

by Anonymousreply 26April 11, 2021 2:39 PM

Isn't it a bit late?

by Anonymousreply 27April 11, 2021 2:40 PM

If Harry were smart, he'd throw himself over the coffin during the service and weep like they've taken away his trust fund.

by Anonymousreply 28April 11, 2021 2:43 PM

Harry and Meghan went to the funeral three days ago. Just them and the Archbishop in their old backyard.

by Anonymousreply 29April 11, 2021 2:46 PM

One person I am sure will be there that no one has meantioned is Prince Phillip.

by Anonymousreply 30April 11, 2021 2:48 PM

He's no longer a person, r30.

by Anonymousreply 31April 11, 2021 2:51 PM

One would love to be there but the corgis aren't going to walk themselves.

by Anonymousreply 32April 11, 2021 2:54 PM

R18, actually I don't believe they can be buried with George VI, as there is no more room in that very tiny (and not terribly attractive, IMHO) chapel...Margaret wouldn't have made it if she hadn't been cremated. I suspect they'll end-up at the Royal Burial Ground at Frogmore, or perhaps the Windsor garden.

by Anonymousreply 33April 11, 2021 2:55 PM

There will be no vicar, only ABC and the Dean of Windsor.

by Anonymousreply 34April 11, 2021 2:56 PM

R31 In earlier lockdowns in the UK when the limit was 10 people I wouldn't have been surprised if some 'jobsworth' had counted the body.

by Anonymousreply 35April 11, 2021 2:57 PM

Sorry, but I don’t think the Middletons should not attend. There are other people who were closer to him.

Harry should be there.

by Anonymousreply 38April 11, 2021 3:02 PM

Harry's passport should be taken away from him when he gets to the UK. The Middletons are mates with Camilla and are there in support of Waity Katie. The Middletons' presence will specifically emphasize the Absence of Meghan.

by Anonymousreply 39April 11, 2021 3:03 PM

Another Royal Dig ......"Prince William will be supported by the Middletons"

Everytime someone trashes "the other brother" and his wife, it makes William look like an even bigger Royal CandyAss than he already is, and Kate an even bigger Royal Bitch.

by Anonymousreply 40April 11, 2021 3:05 PM

[quote]Sorry, but I don’t think the Middletons should not attend.

Oh, you silly boy! Mike and Carole Brady-Middleton aren't there as guests. They have been contracted to cater the event. You don't think Prince Philip is being sent off with a few sausage rolls at the local pub, do you?

by Anonymousreply 41April 11, 2021 3:06 PM

by Anonymousreply 42April 11, 2021 3:07 PM

There's quite a mob of nieces/nephew, grand-nieces/nephews on Philips Nazi side of the family, the offspring of Philip's 3 surviving sisters. The oldest of the lot is Maximillian, Margrave of Baden, 87 and Philip's nephew via his sister Theodora.

by Anonymousreply 54April 11, 2021 3:27 PM

I doubt any of the nephew and nieces from Philip's side will be there--he was not especially close with them. I think he liked his sister Theodora, but I don't think he kept up ties with her children.

He was enormously close with his sister Cecilia, but she died in a plane crash in the 30s with her children on board.

by Anonymousreply 55April 11, 2021 3:29 PM

Yes the Mountbattens, the Milford-Havens, lest we forget.

by Anonymousreply 56April 11, 2021 3:30 PM

Sarah Chatto and her brother Lord Snowdon will likely be there, and maybe Sarah's husband. Lord Snowdon is divorcing, so his wife will likely not be there.

Sarah is (with Sophie and Princess Alexandra) one of the most adored members of the royal family. Everyone likes her.

by Anonymousreply 69April 11, 2021 5:49 PM

The funeral will be an indication of who is in and who is not in the slimmed down monarchy Charles is planning.

by Anonymousreply 70April 11, 2021 5:54 PM

All ten great-grandchildren will not be there. Two are newborns, Louis is just rising three, i would only expect Prince George and maybe the Phillps girls and maybe the oldest Tyndall.

The Middletons sounds suspicious to me, but they may be there to run interference between Harry and the Cambridges, so that Harry has to be part of the York household "bubble".

by Anonymousreply 71April 11, 2021 5:55 PM

Americans are so obsessed with the royal family lol

by Anonymousreply 72April 11, 2021 5:57 PM

The Snowdon children are only related to Philip by marriage but he has known them all their lives. It would be odd having the Middletons but neither of the Snowdons. It was Philip who walked Margaret down the aisle in 1960 as her father was dead.

R106 In terms of UK funerals eight days after death is regarded as quite hasty.

Two weeks is ideal, but depending on the time of year three to five weeks later isn't uncommon.

Sudden death (even from natural causes) will result in delays, it's probably eight to twelve weeks then. If you are lucky.

by Anonymousreply 128April 11, 2021 9:23 PM

R126 in this day and age

by Anonymousreply 129April 11, 2021 9:27 PM

I doubt Princess Alexandra will be there, as she is rumoured to be in poor health. And the Duchess of Kent retired from public life some years ago (with much more grace and goodwill than some others) so may be a no-show. Peter Phillips is divorcing so his wife won’t be there, Edo and Jack are relatively new members so may not attend. I was actually thinking that Kate may be an exception as an attendee married to a grandchild. Only Mike Tindall has been in the family as long as her, and I can imagine him not making a fuss at being left out.

If attendance is restricted to grand-children (+Kate), it may make Harry seem like less of an outsider.

Whatever happens, I am sure there will be a few surprising attendees. The Royals generally find a way to defy expectations.

by Anonymousreply 130April 11, 2021 9:55 PM

I’d be very surprised if the Middletons are there, but if they are it will be a sign of how much power has passed to William. He obviously loves and trusts them, and they have behaved impeccably as his in-laws.

by Anonymousreply 131April 11, 2021 9:59 PM

I doubt the Middleton family would attend if it meant family members were excluded.

R126, does she really smoke? I hadn't heard that.

I think the hardness isn't too bad. If she's not a smoker, age and keeping so thin could do the same. She could fix her look by gaining five pounds, trimming her hair, and getting some laser resurfacing.

R79 - As I said, it sounds suspicious to me, but it wasn't only PageSix - when I searched, it came up in the ibitimes, as well. So far, no denials have been issued.

I can think of good reasons for it, but I agree that giving two spaces to William's in-laws does sound a bit off, unless they really are trying to provide a physical buffer between Harry and the Cambridges. After all, as William's brother, the Cambridge household "bubble" is the one he would naturally join.

Remember when they sent Kate and Pippa and Meghan to Wimbledon, and they sat on either side of Meghan, almost as if they were minding her?

by Anonymousreply 142April 11, 2021 10:31 PM

R130 - Not at all. Autumn and Peter Phillips are already divorced, on quite amicable terms, and Autumn showed up last fall at something with the family? It was a very quiet proceeding. Peter Phillips is just as much Philip's grandson as Harry is. If Harry can be there, so can Anne's firstborn, and by the way, the Queen's and Philip's first grandchild.

by Anonymousreply 144April 11, 2021 10:39 PM

R126 - Thank you, Pet, for reducing a thread about the death of Britain's longest serving consort to Kate's looks. Actually, for you, that was quite a restrained post.

I'm sure the entire world will be focussed on Kate's complexion rather than the Queen's grieving face.

Yes, poor dear Kate is looking dreadful these days, isn't she?

by Anonymousreply 146April 11, 2021 10:42 PM

R143, I wasn’t suggesting the Peter won’t be there, just suggesting that there are good reasons for saying that his ex-wife won’t be, and that I can imagine a few more of Those married to Phillip’s grandkids may be persuaded not to attend, which would free up a few spaces.

by Anonymousreply 147April 11, 2021 10:42 PM

Let's talk about the real conniver here, Kate. How many years was she lurking around while she waited for a proposal from William. Of course, he would eventually ask her to marry him, it's exactly what serial cheaters do. They choose a wife, not because they love her, but she is the one who will always take him back, no matter who he sleeps with. She wants him for the title, the kids, the fame, and the public worship. And, the money.

She's sneaky. She's worse than Markle.

by Anonymousreply 156April 11, 2021 11:04 PM

Harry can walk wherever with whomever. However, as long as he’s married to that woman, he’ll be frozen out in a most polite and civil way.

My MIL had a falling-out with her BFF and they didn’t speak for a few years. When she died suddenly, the family invited him to the memorial service. The falling-out was between the two of them, and we had nice memories of him. It would have been cruel to exclude him, and we figured there was a 50-50 chance she’d be okay with it. But life is for the living and we didn’t want that on our consciences.

He showed up and our interactions were pleasant. Oh you look wonderful, the kids are getting so big, business is doing well, etc. He paid his respects, and we all hugged goodbye. But everyone (himself included) knew this would be the last time we saw him.

I imagine that’s how it’ll go down with that crew.

by Anonymousreply 157April 11, 2021 11:13 PM

R154 - Yes, that's the problem, as they are likely the two people angriest at him, excepting Kate. Although Sophie looks as though she'd like to cut Harry, too.

I agree about the great-grandchildren being most likely to be restricted, except that Prince George is nearly eight, and as the next heir might be included to make the point. Any other great-grandchildren under 12 will almost certainly not be there.

It will be very interesting to see how they sort it - rows of two? Charles and Andrew supporting the Queen with the others behind? All the family men together with the married in wives behind? Couples together?

I can see the Lord Chamberlain tearing his hair out. And, one assumes there will be a quiet reception back at Windsor after the interment.

Harry is allegedly staying at his old digs in Nottingham Cottage, as he has to quarantine for a period and Euge and Jack and their baby are allegedly now ensconced at Frogmore Cottage.

R151, I don’t think there has been any specific announcement of her retiring, or of any specific illness, but she is 84/85 now and has had a few illnesses and injuries over the past few years. There was also a report recently that she hadn’t performed any royal duties over the past 8 or 9 months, not even via Skype. As she was previously so active with her charities, it’s reasonable to assume that something is preventing her from carrying on.

by Anonymousreply 161April 11, 2021 11:31 PM

R158 Legally the rules are clear, they will stay in their own 'bubbles' (maximum of two households).

Sophie has shown that she's very good at the duty thing, and also very family oriented. What a perfect combination of attributes for that role. She's not exciting but she's pretty great. She comes across as warmer and more engaging than even Kate. She'd have made a good Queen consort.

Of all the people in that family, the one I'd least want to cross is Anne, who's been fingered by the press as the skin-colour commenter. If she can kill one of the Queen's corgis she's capable of anything.

According to the BBC, clergy and pall bearers are not included in the count of who attends the funeral service.

No word about service music or whether The Chapel Royal which consists of the Queen's musicians and her private choir will take part.

Military bands will take part in the procession to the chapel.

Duke of Edinburgh will arrive in a " modified Range Rover".

Surely not strapped to the roof!

A list of probably funeral attendees, limited to 30 due to UK COVID restrictions:

The Queen

Charles & Camilla, Anne & husband, Andrew, Edward & Sophie

William & Kate, Harry

Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, Beatrice & Eugenie, Louise Windsor & James Severn

Sarah Chatto, David Linley

That brings to a total of 19 or so. The remaining guests will be a combination of these:

George Cambridge, Charlotte Cambridge, Savannah & Isla Phillips (older g-grandchildren, if allowed. Rumor is they won't be present)

Mike Tindall, Jack Brooksbank, Eduardo Mozzi (spouses of grandchildren)

Lady Pamela Hicks & attendant (his remaining 1st cousin, she is 95 yrs old and wheelchair-bound)

Duke of Gloucester, Duke of Kent, Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra (Queen's 1st cousins)

Norton & Penny Knatchbull (no joke, she's married to his cousin)

George Milford Haven, Ivar Mountbatten (cousins)

Max and Ludwig of Baden, Georg of Hohenlohe-Langenburg, Karl and Clarissa of Hesse, George of Hanover (nephews/nieces)

It is a relief that he didn't care about the timing, at least. What an evil scourge the Harkles are. I feel very sorry for the dead duke and for the Queen, having to put up with so, so many problems in old age which are just compounded by the Harkles in the most selfish possible way.

Sir John, who was guardian to Princes William and Harry following their mother's death, said he hoped it would end any "friction" between the pair. He also said the Queen needed time to grieve for her husband."

I assume that William and Harry fave John Major will be at the funeral as a prelude to their reconciliation. He was their special guardian after Diana's death, appointed to ensure the Windsors, an acquisitive lot, didn't fleece the kids of Diana's money (much of which came from the Windsors on the divorce). Sir John is a working class guy from Brixton and the princes liked him. I hope they still like him because he is in a unique position to mediate this situation.

Mountbatten and his wife were anything but monogamous. They both indulged themselves liberally. He was of course bi, and was referred to in private circles as Earl Mountbottom.

His wife was the filthy rich heiress to banker Ernst Cassel, and her money was definitely one of her primary attractions for Lord Louis.

But after the strange manner of such things, they were genuinely close, and her affairs were said to upset him, as his were purely sexual, whilst hers were passionate. And, yes, she had quite the thing with Nehru.

These were some of the reasons the Queen Mother distrusted Lord Louis and tried to offset his influence on Charles.

As it appears masks will be worn, the family will liyerally have a bit of cover re hiding their disgust of Harry having the neck to use his grandfather's death as a rehabilitation venue. Instead of, for example, visiting Philip whilst still alive, as Harry was undoubtedly told Philip was on the way out.

But Harry did that appalling interview instead, forcing the Queen to deal with his incredible shit whilst trying to focus on her last weeks with her dying spouse.

They really have robbed Archie of quite a bit in their endless quest for more. Sad.

Philip was a very harsh father to Charles, yet seems to genuinely connect with children. The stories about him playing with and comforting JFK Jr. were also quite poignant. Families are complicated.

Harry DID value his family before MeMe, they were to be "the family she never had." Now his children will miss growing up with their cousins and the rest of the family. Harry will have brought additional time and stress at a very vulnerable point, all in a shake down attempt for more money. Gruesome Twosome indeed.

by Anonymousreply 246April 12, 2021 2:20 PM

Combat veterans want Harry to wear his uniform?

I find that difficult to believe.

by Anonymousreply 247April 12, 2021 2:22 PM

Nice statement about William recalling his grandfather coming to fetch the great grandkids in his carriage, his sense of humor, and mischievousness.

I'm betting William never allowed Gramps to fetch the great grandkids for a Sunday drive in the country in his big, shiny Land Rover.

by Anonymousreply 248April 12, 2021 2:23 PM

Sunshine Sucks desperate pressure tactics, R247. They attempt to "manifest" the wishes of MeMe.

Of course, you are correct.

Ditching an event for military to pitch his wife doing voice over for Disney was revealing. Where did that money go, by the way? Reportedly not to the elephants as was advertised. Sunshine Sucks and the bot armies must be paid, hmmm...

by Anonymousreply 249April 12, 2021 2:28 PM

The bitter old queen @ r247 has stopped to an even lower low.

No one can question Harry's dedication and service to his country and fellow military veterans. That dedication continues to this day, extending far beyond the battlefield.

by Anonymousreply 250April 12, 2021 2:30 PM

R247 and it's utter bullshit, probably made up by Hazza and Megsy's PR team to stir shit.

Veterans are disgusted with Harry who preferred attending the fucking Disney premiere party instead of doing his duty attending some military service.

by Anonymousreply 251April 12, 2021 2:32 PM

Harry's remembrance of his grandfather was sweet. Meghan must have helped him write it because it contains the same grammatical error she makes and Harry made in the farewell speech to his African charity. Harry said, "... and I..." instead of "... and me..."

Per the Sun caption, "Harry was very close to the Duke of Edinburgh, and was reportedly isolating at home in LA so he could travel quickly" this keeps being trumpted, yet, he did not visit whilst he was dying, despite being well aware.

Instead, they did the Oprah interview and kept up strong arm tactics until days before Philip's death, demanding the BRF make a public aplology to MeMeMe and angling for more titles and funding lest more revelations be made. Nothing HazBean does or says for the rest of his life can alter what his actions in March and April 2021 told the world about who HE is.

by Anonymousreply 258April 12, 2021 2:46 PM

The last thing soldiers serving in Afghanistan wanted was Harry around, making them high-risk targets, to say nothing of the extra efforts to keep the grandson of the sovereign out of harm's way. While Harry was doing photo OPs playing soldier, his fellow officers were assigned to protect him.

Why are the expectations so low for Hazbean, look at Philip's childhood, or William's?

by Anonymousreply 272April 12, 2021 5:09 PM

R270 - You're joking, right? The only reason Harry had that happy go lucky cheeky soldier boy image is because the Palace surrounded him with people who cleaned up his messes and crafted the image for him.

His bad temper, recklessness, and stupidity have been regularly covered up whilst he was passed through schools and up through the military because of what his name was. He couldn't pass the Major's exam, so his Gran made him an honorary one. His wife's bitchy bullying was also covered up by the same people Meghan now accuses of not "protecting" her enough.

If you think that Vegas stunt and the Nazi uniform and use of the term Paki and Raghead were the extent of Harry's peccadilloes, think again. They've been cutting him slack and coddling him and forgiving him and pushing him through since his teens.

They did the same thing with Margaret and Andrew- slack slack slack and more slack.

What the Queen should have done as soon as she realised they were planning their exit in 2019 was shove them out the door with a nice fat cheque and no titles.

You want to talk cutting slack? They've been cutting Meghan slack since the engagement, paying off staff whose lives she made miserable in exchange for NDAs.

That's the irony here: people like Andrew and Meghan and Margaret and Harry getting to remain privileged, dumb, rich, fat, and happy whilst behaving atrociously.

by Anonymousreply 273April 12, 2021 5:10 PM

R272 - It's the "spare" problem: they try to make up for Not Being First by spoiling them rotten and indulging them. Then, when the result of all that spoiling and indulgence blossoms in adulthood and bad behaviour, the BRF are shocked, shocked. The heir is burdened with higher expectations and dire warnings about the Fall of the House of Windsor, whilst the spare runs around naked at his father's 50th birthday party, dons a Nazi armband for a costume party, gets photographed playing strip billiards in Las Vegas at 28, and then is allowed to marry a third-rate divorced nearly middle-aged actress so unfit for royal life it was visible from Outer Space.

Their shock at the outcome is what is so, er, shocking. As Max Hastings said in his article, everyone who really knew Harry, knew that the moment he left the military, Harry was a train wreck waiting to happen.

As someone said, "Crazy is doing the same thing over and over, but expecting a different result."

Indulging Harry and Meghan has done nothing but allow the two to feel that indulgence is their birthright.

But the BRF seem unable to absorb the lesson.

Harry was never in any real danger during his military service. The notion is laughable. Almost as laughable as the idea that he’s a target of a fatwa now.

There may be people defending him online, but regular rank and file don’t have time for stolen valor fakers and exaggerators.

But let him play dress-up. He likes that.

[quote] Harry was never in any real danger during his military service.

This has always been my thought. Was he ever really in danger during all the time he was in the military? Seems like he would have been protected more than the average soldier. These guys (Charles, William, etc.) are so used to putting on a coat with tons of badges and medals just for being born. The military uniform was probably another coat with badges and medals.

by Anonymousreply 281April 12, 2021 6:21 PM

Of course he wasn’t in any real danger. Can you imagine being the general who’d have to tell Queen Elizabeth “yes, we allowed your grandson to be blown to smithereens. Sorry Ma’am.”

It’s like some people don’t understand how nepotism works.

by Anonymousreply 282April 12, 2021 6:30 PM

r280 Andrew's the reason why its better to put them in the navy. They can still get the joy of service, firing long range missiles and general slumming it. But the real lunatic states or militia out there have yet to build surface fleets so no risk of beheading on Al-Jazeera

by Anonymousreply 295April 12, 2021 7:09 PM

Meghan really had a thread deleted? I will not pay to post here anymore if true. Wtf is that cunt to have that kind of power here? They are the ones who should be banned. Homophobic, racist, decrepitated bullies and trolls can now post this kind of abuse to us but DL'ers who have been here for years and are paid members answer to these trolls? Oh, hell no.

by Anonymousreply 296April 12, 2021 7:34 PM

I very much doubt that Meghan had anything to do with it, R296. DL may sometimes punch above its weight in the matter of gossip, but 1) the site is largely unheard of in the real world and 2) the Meghan threads are, in any case, the same kind of crazy stuff you can find all over the internet. I think that Muriel just deletes the threads when they become too ridiculous and threaten to make this venereal institution a magnet for all manner of Meghan obsessives.

For those who will mark me out as a Sunshine Sachs SHILL, you can do the whole thing of ignoring me and then reading my comments on other BRF threads - you'll see that I really don't like Meghan, but let's not get carried away with ourselves, either in our theories about her or in the extent to which we allow this topic to dominate threads that don't specifically address Meghan.

by Anonymousreply 299April 12, 2021 8:00 PM

Meghan didn't have the bloody thread deleted. For one thing, it was started well before Part 2 was even at 500 posts. For another, idiots started about 4 other threads on his death, and those were in addition the dozen OTHER threads about Harry and Meghan created on Philip's death.

If you lot can't discipline yourselves to keep to 2-3 threads on the same topic, I don't blame the mods for losing patience and cleaning up.

It was not remotely time for Part 3. Meghan I'd guilty of much, but she has no power here to delete threads.

The test of us who want to discuss this shit have begged the rest of you to stop creating inane new threads on one issue.

But would you listen?

by Anonymousreply 301April 12, 2021 8:03 PM

Doubt iit, R299, Haru looked awfully smirky upon arrival in the UK. In contrast to Edward and his family who looked quite tearful. I do believe they feel they have the BRF over a barrel.

Having a relative like this, I can say, they do not care about appearances or relationships so any event or circumstance can be disrupted by their acting out for negative attention or just to embarass the family. They are after power and attention, there is no way to get them to value a shared time, even in grief, unless it is connected to a system like payments with consequences and in this case, an NDA would have been helpful. It is very painful for other family members, I can attest. Harry stripped naked and ran about as a teen at his father's 50th bday party that he and William had organized. It should be clear why he married her.

by Anonymousreply 302April 12, 2021 8:05 PM

It is very frustrating to have 4 or 5 threads when we could have everything in one. It is difficult to keep up.

by Anonymousreply 303April 12, 2021 8:06 PM

In the past, Epstein threads were deleted, and 1D threads, the spazz troll seems engaged to post about both MeAgain and the other Harry.

Was there anything particularly interesting before the thread was deleted? Often duplicative threads are simply closed, so something likely warranted different treatment. Anyone wanna guess who was on the thread at the end?

by Anonymousreply 304April 12, 2021 8:10 PM

The problem about amassing so many posts in one thread is that it takes forever to open past the 300 post or so and is slow to scroll on phones.

[Quote]Harry stripped naked and ran about as a teen at his father's 50th bday party that he and William had organized

by Anonymousreply 305April 12, 2021 8:11 PM

I think Harry looked drunk/drugged in that picture. He looked wasted. I feel for TRF. I have never seen one as toxic and narcissist as MM. They are going to have ghost them . What else can they do? It is horrible to watch them do this right now just as everyone is grieving and trying to honor a man who stood by the Queen and his family for so long.

by Anonymousreply 306April 12, 2021 8:12 PM

I agree, R303. Too many threads have been set up on subsidiary topics - the funeral attendees, whether Philip had Diana murdered, pictures of Philip in bathing suits - when these could all have gone on a Prince Philip megathread to mark his death. Individual subtopics may interest you more, but it's just a better experience if they're all together, I believe, because he is being discussed so much at the moment and more people could read and bring interesting stuff to a megathread.

More importantly, any non-Philip discussion of Meghan Markle should be kept to the Recollections May Vary series.

by Anonymousreply 307April 12, 2021 8:19 PM

Harry’s statement is more Californian word salad. I suspect that his sole contributions were the word “banter” and the phrase “oh, do get on with it!” - all the rest reads as pure Meagain.

R305 - Yes - the two boys organised a large but private 50th birthday party for Charles. Harry was 14 at the time. In the midst of the party and the toasts and all that, Harry suddenly stripped off, ran around the room totally starkers, and then sped out, mortifying his brother, father, and the guests.

Fourteen and a member of the BRF - no one of that age and background pulls a prank like that because he doesn't know any better.

I think Harry's been acting out for decades, and it's all aimed at his family, including his brother. He's clearly extremely emotionally damaged, angry, immature, and for all his therapy, lacking some crucial synaptic connection between neurons that produces real self-awareness.

His family are his victims. Meghan is his weapon. He experiences no guilt, and he found the perfect partner to assure him he is guiltless.

That Meghan posted that vile message in this of all weeks about being willing to "forgive and move forward", wrapped up, of course, in her bullshit about her close bond with Philip (he's been living at Wood Farm for the last three years, she's probably only met him several times) and that's what he would have wanted, is proof that nothing in the dynamic between the Sussexes and the Windsors will ever change.

The family need to accept this and behave accordingly if THEY are ever to move forward.

by Anonymousreply 312April 12, 2021 10:07 PM

Agree, R312. Have a relative like this and gray rocking to minimize future harm is the only choice. It is heartbreaking and hope springs eternal but people like this in midlife are not going to change. MeAgain's pattern is set and now Hazbean has adopted it. Looking at the photo of George it is hard not to feel for Archie and his sister. Philip did seem fun, and to like little kids.

by Anonymousreply 316April 12, 2021 10:16 PM

I saw it in the The Express - it is, however, being talked about on a good many sites.

Of course, she has put this about through "friends".

I doubt anyone will have brought this breathtaking piece of merriment to the Queen's attention, but I don't doubt that other members of the family were made aware of it.

The piece with Meghan and her "close bond" with Philip (and Charles, remember that? And the Queen, of course. And the Archbishop of Canterbury. And Diana's ghost. And, er, have I forgotten anyone?) is also in the Express.

Really - in a week of mourning, put that out there knowing full well that the response back at the Palace will be, "Over our dead . . ." Ooops.

Only a sociopath would put that out there at this time. One really fears for the children.

Some tea from the Telegraph (Tominey):

Yet it was the final, somewhat pointed, paragraph which took royal-watchers by surprise as William said: "Catherine and I will continue to do what he would have wanted and will support the Queen in the years ahead. I will miss my Grandpa, but I know he would want us to get on with the job."

The carefully-chosen words were inevitably interpreted by some as a bold attempt to contrast the Cambridges' own dutiful behaviour with the Sussexes' departure from royal duty.

Disgusting human beings. If your family does not have any, count yourself blessed.

Harry has always been very off, it is not just that his mother died, look at the contrast with William or with Phillip. There are no easy answers with such relatives, esp if you have a profile where they can exert power by humiliating you. Charles was said years ago to be preparing a country home for Harry. It was never expected that he would be a self supporting adult and it is abundantly clear why most women would not have him.

Probably tune in to BBC or SKY News, both will probably be streaming it live. If you're watching from America, England is five hours ahead of the East Coast. The funeral starts at 3PM GMT, which would be 10:00am on the East Coast.

BST (British Summer Time) began at end March, so even with Daylight Saving Time in America, the five hours should be accurate.

R324 - Charles allegedly offered them a beautiful old estate in Herefordshire, near the Welsh border. I believe it was already built, one of those older homes oozing class and character. It also wasn't far from Gloucestershire, where Charles' place, Highgrove House is, as well as Anne's Gatcombe estate.

The countryside is stunning (see link) and it is always listed as one of the ten most beautiful places to see in Britain - and the city itself is a cathedral city.

The Sussexes weren't interested - which tells you something about their values.

It was a painful lesson over time in my own family and we could not be humiliated on a global scale, the Harkles do have power, as long as they can pay for PR, esp. Very sad state of affairs and the whole family will not be on the same page. For parents esp, hope springs eternal. These personality or character disorders are even harder to change than other forms of mental illenss or even addiction. There never seems to be much insight that would lead to self accountability and thus change. And, when the effect is magnified by a spouse, it is that much worse as they cheer and goad one another on in acting out. It is very hard.

by Anonymousreply 335April 12, 2021 10:47 PM

Who is forking up for Harry's trip home? By all of his accounts of wanting to be free of his relatives, British Airways has a non stop LAX - LHR. Surely there's a free seat for him to stump up and pay for. I do hope the RF isn't mollycoddling this sad sack of slurry and private jetting him there. He doesn't deserve it. It's a wonder the British public hasn't demanded a temporary halt to the Civil List in order to have something done about this crawlling grifter and its hideous wife.

by Anonymousreply 336April 12, 2021 10:51 PM

R331 - Of course they're "allowed". They're more than allowed: they're suggested and sanctioned by Meghan. They come direct from the studio itself.

What I find interesting about these "leaks", is that Meghan knows quite well that many, including the BRF, will understand immediately what the real message is, and that message has nothing to do with forgiveness, moving forward, or her relationship with Philip.

The message is INTENDED to insult and infuriate. It is, in fact, another bait at the end of a pole she is dangling in front of them, daring them to lose it and strike back and make themselves look bad.

But they won't. They haven't taken the bait yet and I doubt they will.

They may, of course, see to it that Meghan and Harry are shut out of the family completely except for the next funeral: TQ.

They will never be taken back into the fold, especially if the Queen dies within the year. The wounds are far too fresh. And if only Charles would see reason and step aside for William, the Queen's funeral would be the last time either of those two sociopaths are seen with the family.

Aww, come on, let her attend.

If she did not want to be the center of attention surely that would be indicated by NOT creating PR. That old chestnut, actions speak louder than words, comes to mind...

She is clearly trying to set up his in person shakedown adn to maintain viability for merching their BRF connections.

[quote]Meghan Markle 'willing to forgive royals and move forward' after Philip death, say friends

Do these Markle, Harry and "friends" fuckers have any sense of self-awareness and the damage they have caused? Markle is willing to forgive the royal family? Oh please. That statement is 360-degrees wrong. It should be is the royal family willing to forgive her...keeping in mind that they don't need Markle to "move forward.."

by Anonymousreply 343April 12, 2021 11:11 PM

Oh Jesus, now Markle is supposedly issuing statements via her so-called friends statements saying that Markle had a "special bond" with Philip and that she "adored" him. Markle is exactly the type of person who Philip would have hated and had no use for...and vice versa.

Besides, Philip retired from public life in 2017. He rarely left Windsor Castle from the time he retired. I doubt Markle even saw him but a few, brief times if at all between her maternity leave and her phony stunts in Canada for "private family time" while she plotted her escape. Me-Again never seems to quit inserting herself. STFU.

R353. Even more reason with Philip being retired at Sandringham and then sheltered away at Windsor due to COVID for more than a year, obviously there was no time for Markle to see Philip never mind having any time to "adore" him. Plus she had left the UK. I'm sure there was no "special bond" was created between her and Philip as her supposed friends are claiming on her behalf. Another lie from the duchess in distress.

Meghan is irrelevant in the eyes of the BRF. She has proven herself not worthy of any attention from them whatsoever. She has simply demonstrated an inability to rise to any occasion with dignity. Harry is damaged goods, and as heartbreaking as he believes his story is, many many others have suffered more at an early age without making their problems belong to every one else.

The BRF must cut all ties.

The Daughter of Princess Alexandra Marina Ogilvy/Mowatt gave a rather unfortunate interview to the tabloid press 30+ years ago when she became pregnant.

After her short lived marriage and divorce she was allowed to rent a small cottage on the Windsor Estate.

She lived there on government benefits, they also payed her rent as they would for any other impoverished person.

This article about her daughter explains what happened.

( 50th) Also when W&K were preparing for their wedding, the staff baked a hugh, expensive cake. Harry ran up the cake and punched one side of it with his fist and tried to play it off as a joke. No one laughed. He was always pulling mean pranks on people. Supposedly this is another reason Chelsey left him. She thought he was mean but she also knew something was really abnormal about Harry.

The Today Show is diplomatically pushing a story of the brothers coming together for the funeral. Which isn’t something I really believe, but I appreciate that they’re not fanning flames. Everyone will behave in public.

by Anonymousreply 411April 13, 2021 12:08 PM

I was reading about how much attention there will be on trying to read body language, which is so ridiculous. They'll be at a funeral, masked, and the only time you see them embrace in public is informally at things like the polo. There's not going to be any body language to read.

by Anonymousreply 412April 13, 2021 12:13 PM

I think if you're looking for a display of bad behavior, side eye, etc., this won't be the occasion for it. Everyone knows the world is watching & will be on their best behavior. For all his antics, Wills & Charles probably know Harry is a very fragile guy & the last thing they want to do is send him into a downward spiral, even if they do think he's a pussy whipped little asshole.

Plus, due to COVID, there won't be the usual dignitaries to make fools of themselves or people like Posh & Becks, George & Amal to make fun of, so it will be pretty boring which is kind of disappointing because if there's anything the BRF does well, it's pageantry.

When the Queen dies, however, *that* will be a show. The lid that's held down resentments, anger, annoyance and rivalries finally comes off & there's no telling how people will behave

by Anonymousreply 413April 13, 2021 12:20 PM

I guess we can discuss this here since the part 3 thread was canned: Philip was just as royal if not more so than the Queen. For all the talk of his poverty-stricken childhood and rootlessness, he was unbelievably connected by blood.

His great-grandfather was King of Denmark, his grandfather, uncle and cousins Kings of Greece. His cousins were Queens of Spain and Romania. That's just on his father's side. On his mother's, his great aunt was the last Empress of Russia and his aunt was Queen of Sweden.

No bearing on the funeral directly, but with his passing we're witnessing the real end of an era, where royalty was interconnected by strong family bonds. The 'new royals' are all marrying non-royals and commoners, which is more modern but loosens the ties between the families and countries.

by Anonymousreply 414April 13, 2021 12:21 PM

r380 is it really that shocking to be acting out at that age? He's heard a lot more shit about his parents divorce than most children get, usually we don't get to the truth until we are adults and can sift through our parents bs. I'm sure at that time he was bought in to the saintly-hood of his dead mother. He probably had to see Camilla at this event or perhaps Charles just pissed him off. A 14 year old still coping with the loss of a parent, by being sent back to boarding school, may be prone to bought of anger and acting out. I doubt Charles is much of a parent so that respect level may not be there. I don't think either boy is even close to Charles.

His father treated his beloved mother like shit, his family is all about the business, he was a teenager (probably drunk), Charles is a complete asshole, and what better way to cause a scene in a stuffy costume obsessed family then to remove that costume. If we stop treating these people like Gods from Mount Olympus (who were very fucked up) and like real humans with issues, we can simmer down these stan wars that have been raging over the past few years.

Sounds rather hilarious for anyone not in attendance!

by Anonymousreply 415April 13, 2021 12:23 PM

[quote]When the Queen dies, however, *that* will be a show. The lid that's held down resentments, anger, annoyance and rivalries finally comes off & there's no telling how people will behave

I think everyone will be on their VERY best behavior when that event happens. NONE of them want to be the spoiler who ruined her funeral, when all of Britain will be in deep mourning and the world's eyes riveted for days, if not weeks, on them. It would be suicide for any of the BRF to step out of line then.

When Charles is coronated about 6 months to a year later, is when the gloves may come off for some. It will be a large test of his mettle as monarch as to how he'll handle this, and other BRF issues, in those early months.

by Anonymousreply 416April 13, 2021 12:23 PM

The royal family doesn't do bad behaviour at public occasions. They barely manage it at private occasions. When the Queen dies it will be stiff upper lips all around. And the notion of George Clooney or the Beckhams at Prince Philip or the Queen's funeral is... mistaken.

by Anonymousreply 417April 13, 2021 12:25 PM

[quote]Plus, due to COVID, there won't be the usual dignitaries to make fools of themselves or people like Posh & Becks, George & Amal to make fun

the funniest story I read about Prince Philip was during the Jubilee a few years ago. They placed large gaudy ornate thrones, covered in red velvet and gold thread, in front of the dais for TQ & PP to sit on. They didn't though - they insisted on standing behind them the entire time.

When asked why they didn't take their seats, PP retorted, "Are you mad? We didn't want to look like Mr & Mrs Beckham up there!". Hilarious that not only did they have the foresight not to look badly in public, but that he knew who Becks & Posh were and knew about their infamous 'throne photos' at their ridiculously tacky wedding years earlier.

by Anonymousreply 419April 13, 2021 12:27 PM

by Anonymousreply 425April 13, 2021 12:40 PM

R425 He was quoted as saying something to the effect of "I like climbers. They interest me." He freely admitted to being one himself.

by Anonymousreply 426April 13, 2021 12:42 PM

R366 - The PM surrendered his invitation to allow more family to attend given the 30-guest limit.

Philip has cousins who are still alive, notably the current holder of the Mountbatten of Burma earldom, Norton Knatchbull, and Lady Pamela Hicks, who I think must also be ninety, at least..

Some sort of repast or reception is customary at most funerals, I cannot imagine there won't be a private one in this case, though COVID restrictions may give more thankful cover, again.

R348 - No, Meghan isn't quite "powerful" but she has wrought significant damage to Harry's family. And, as everyone predicted she would, she has managed to insert herself into the funeral from a distance, claiming that she and Philip had a close bond, that she adored him, and that she's "willing to forgive the royals and more forward" . . .

The remarks are intended to be painful, insulting, and to ensure no rifts are healed, because she doesn't want Harry back in the bosom of his family.

She is powerful enough to use her PR mouthpieces to inflict pain and anger on people in the midst of profound grief.

The topic of the thread is attendance at Philip's funeral: fixation on Harry's and/or Meghan's presence or absence has, willy-nilly, a place in the discussions.

She and Harry are now hugely famous narcissistic sociopaths capable of, and willing to, inflict huge amounts of damage on a family and an institution.

Their loathsome, selfish, destructive personae are therefore quite on topic.

Pamela Hicks is 92, I think. If you're into podcasts she did one with her daughter, India Hicks, that is pretty entertaining... just to listen to her talk with the marbles in her throat and perpetual stiff upper lip.

by Anonymousreply 429April 13, 2021 1:03 PM

I'm wondering what it is that they're going to be showing on television. Early on, even before he actually died, it was said that he planned a funeral for himself that was private and low-key, and because it was all within the castle gates, nothing would be visible to the public and they were asked not to bother gathering. Now it sounds like they're souping it up and making a show? People here keep saying that the British certainly "do pomp and pageantry well," but if that's what's happening on Saturday, it's not what he wanted.

by Anonymousreply 430April 13, 2021 1:04 PM

I don't know where this notion of a private funeral comes from. He said nothing of the sort. It's being conducted with respect for COVID limitations but other than that as he wished... From the Telegraph, which is a reliably connected broadsheet:

"The Duke left strict instructions that he should have a relatively low-key funeral in his final wishes, swapping a formal lying-in-state for commemorations remembering his military ties and charity patronages.

The Duke, who hated “fuss” and took a no-nonsense approach to life, had planned a Royal ceremonial funeral, rather than a State funeral, giving him the same status as Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother."

R430 Once you are dead you become a possession of your next of kin, they can totally ignore your funeral wishes if they like.

The Royal Family seem to be trying to accommodate and adapt his plans to conform with current restrictions.

by Anonymousreply 433April 13, 2021 1:50 PM

His call for a royal ceremonial funeral is not a call for a private funeral.

This is a significant moment in the life of the nation, typically broadcast. The only thing unusual is the limits on the crowd and the reason is obvious.

Harry seems to be intellectually and emotionally challenged. I'm not saying that to be cruel--he genuinely seems to have some level of disability. I watched about half of the interview he had with James Corden and had to turn it off because it was so uncomfortable. I think that's the first time I've seen him speak for any length of time.

My guess is that William has always been extra protective of him because of his challenges. I don't like Meghan, but I do think she's the brains of that operation. She's well-spoken and canny.

Anyway, I hope there's no drama at the funeral and that his family is kind to him. I suspect that they are more concerned about his well-being than they are mad at him.

by Anonymousreply 436April 13, 2021 1:55 PM

She said she's willing to forgive, why not accept that and move on? Why must you all make a bigger fuss out of this? It's better to withdraw the knives on both sides and move forward in piece rather then continue on. Sure, she could have been silent but she's not a Royal anymore so she's free to speak her mind.

[quote]She said she's willing to forgive, why not accept that and move on?

R437 For the basic reason that one does not empower a pathological narcissist by pandering to her fantasies. Like her "close relationship" with Prince Philip or her "adoring" him. Calculated ploys concocted to inflict as much damage as possible. As Megs has displayed over and over and over and over again ad nauseum, in the end, it's ALWAYS about her.

by Anonymousreply 440April 13, 2021 2:03 PM

R437, even humble non-royals like the Baroness Kilkeel are expected to have a sense of decency. In this instance she has decided that she is unable to keep quiet even in the immediate aftermath of Phillip’s death. Despite herself complaining of Palace spokespeople campaigning against her, she herself is letting her great magnanimity be known through her chosen mouthpieces.

By saying she is willing to forgive, she is implying that she is the victim. And of course no-one is allowed to imply otherwise, at the risk of being tarred as a racist.

She had the choice to at least stay quiet this week. The fact that she didn’t just confirms what her detractors believe her to be.

That will have pierced Philip's heart more than anything else."

The phrase "platitude-spouting Californian" sounds as though it could have come from Philip's own mouth

by Anonymousreply 494April 13, 2021 9:41 PM

R489. Diana was mother to the future king. He also knew Charles was having an affair with Camilla and couldn't understand why Charles would leave Diana for Camilla...even though Diana had affairs too, but Charles really never gave up Camilla. As a result, Philip sympathized with Diana. Philip loved Sarah in the beginning and for several years. However, after the the royal family ignored Sarah for years and didn't support her, she made the unfortunate mistake of having a dalliance with another man, and she ended up on the front page of the newspapers. Even though Andrew was away for the better part of five years. It was a lonely and frustrating life, but Philip couldn't find it in his heart to forgive Sarah. In the end, he acknowledged Sarah at Eugenie's wedding and he appeared friendly to her. The queen has always been friendly with her because she knew how hard royal life was for both Sarah and Diana.

One story that's been around is that HM met privately. with Fergie and asked what she wanted from the divorce, expecting a dollar amount. Instead Fergie knelt, extended her hand and said "Your friendship, ma'am."

Remember that the family had known Fergie since she was a little girl.

by Anonymousreply 504April 13, 2021 9:57 PM

For those asking above, requesting a funeral without too much "fuss" doesn't remotely mean that the Duke was expecting a funeral with no recognition of his place in the monarchy over three-quarters of a century.

The funeral he planned out, and his resting place, are in accordance with what is called "ceremonial" rather than "state" funeral. The Queen Mother also got a "ceremonial" rather than "state" funeral.

He was Prince Consort of Queen Elizabeth II, and even a ceremonial rather than state funeral would have included 800 guests.

He would probably be quite pleased at the turn of events, but it isn't as if he was expecting the entirely private affair that, for example, the Queen's sister, Princess Margaret got.

The service will be televised, but the public kept away due to COVID.

Frogmore Cottage is big enough where Harry can self-isolate and not come in contact with Eugenie, Jack and August. Harry can be in a separate part of the house. Harry and Eugenie can still talk socially distanced. I'm sure there is a large enough room when Harry and Eugenie escape to far enough apart from each other and away from her husband and son. I do not see how a repair in the rx is possible at this time, R533. Harry was demanding a public apology from the family to MeAgain within days of Philip's death. He had not appeared regretful or repentant, in fact he arrived in the UK with a grin. Everyone will rightly assume that all communications are being recorded or soon to be shared with Gayle King.

Given that Philip was hospitalized the very next day after the family was told about Oprah, his funeral weeks later is really not the time for anyone to be in a forgiving mood.

I would prefer it if the service was not televised, gives Hazbean an opportunity to be disruptive. Any platforms are regretable at this time.

At Diana's funeral, cameras were not allowed to show the royal family, once seated.

Nott Cottage? I can't imagine that William wants Harry within the grounds of Kensington Palace. Why, it may come to fisticuffs!

by Anonymousreply 541April 14, 2021 12:38 AM

Harry probably prefers to be staying at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. I don't think Harry wants to be at Nott Cott which is on the grounds of Kensington Palace where Will and Kate live. Harry is too chicken shit to run into them. By staying at Frog Cott, Harry can avoid them until the funeral where there will be no talking.

Remember the little "tiff" Dim had in front of his own family, courtiers, diplomats, and entire Trump official party on the U.S. President's visit to BP? Dim had his nose out of joint because he wasn't included in the immediate BRF party and Trump party who were viewing the various royal artifacts at they were entering BP formal reception room. No, no, not for Harry. He had to make a big deal out of it, out of being 'snubbed' in his own mind, and made sure everyone knew, every family member, every courtier, every diplomat, every Trump party member - **everyone** had to know that Harry was NOT HAPPY at being included in the BRF official welcome party to the Trumps at BP. Cameras caught Harry telling off a courtier.

Remind you of anyone else? Clue: Wimbledon.

No, I remember seeing the video of that incident and being utterly surprised at how much people were reading into a brief clip in which a man walks into a room, people look at him, and he walks out the other way.

by Anonymousreply 545April 14, 2021 12:49 AM

R543, is that the one where he and his wife tried to follow The Queen into the room to look at the table of relics and William snapped at him “Not allowed!” ?

I love that one. Say it to my cat all the time. With the accent.

by Anonymousreply 546April 14, 2021 12:49 AM

So he's staying on grounds owned by people he's accused of being not only racist but purposely subjecting he, his wife and child to probable and potential danger, as well? My goodness. How gracious of him!

Kidding! He and wifey are really desperate for Granny and Daddy to cough up some money, aren't they?

Yes, r546.

by Anonymousreply 548April 14, 2021 12:50 AM

I do not find it plausible he is quarrantining with a newborn or that he displaced the family of a newborn. Reports of Nott Cott seem more plausible. And being alone is more consistent with quarrantine. I do not think it is at all likely that he is staying with a cousin or that he is at Frogmore.

No, r546, that was a special display that honored Charles' investiture as PoW and only HM, the curent and the future PoW and wives were invited to inspect it close up.

The State Dinner for Trump would have been Megs' first tiara event but, in accordance with standard protocol, they weren't invited (not high enough up the food chain). M was also miffed because because she wanted to wear a tiara to a dinner on their Australian tour but she was told by BP that the dinner was not considered a tiara event so she wasn't lent one.

Typical narcs the two of them, looking for ways to be offended so they can be victims.

R549. If the reports are true that Harry has had contact with Eugenie, then he's probably at Frogmore where she lives. They are all laying low and not traveling around. They are very much aware that the press is watching their every move especially during COVID. They don't want any bad press before the funeral. Frogmore is big enough that Harry can be in one part of the house, while Eugenie and family are in another part of the house. "Quarantine" does not mean being in solitary confinement. It means following safety guidelines so that you are keeping your distance. If Harry had to "self-isolate," then that's different. Self-isolating means you are totally alone. And if Harry is vaccinated, "quarantining" in a separate part of the house is sufficient. And even if he's not vaccinated, you can still quarantine safely without being in solitary confinement.

by Anonymousreply 555April 14, 2021 1:11 AM

R555, A little googling would’ve denied me the pleasure of telling you you’re full of shit.

Here are the rules for quarantining in the UK:

What you can and cannot do in quarantine Quarantine can include staying:

in your own home with friends or family in a hotel or other temporary accommodation that is not a managed quarantine hotel You must quarantine in one place for the full quarantine period, where you can have food and other necessities delivered.

You must quarantine at the address you provided on the passenger locator form.

Visitors You cannot have visitors, including friends and family, unless they’re providing:

emergency assistance care or assistance, including personal care medical assistance veterinary services certain critical public services

There are many reports of him being at Nott Cott at Kensington Palace, R555. He used to live there after all. WIlliam and family are in the country.

Speaking to someone on the phone and staying with them and a newborn are different things. He did not use to live with her, why would he stay with her and a tiny baby? Plus it is MeAgain leaking that they spoke, so, who knows?

I cannot imagine anyone in the family keeping Harry at anything but a very polite distance given that they loved Philip and love the Queen and have been put through hell by the Gruesome Twosome in his final weeks. Disgusting behavior.

Believe what you like, this is not some broke person crashing with the only person he knows in a strange town, Nott Cott is empty and a former residence. No reason for Harry to be at Windsor right now and theree are numerous reports of him at Kensington Palace in Nottingham Cottage before the funeral.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 557April 14, 2021 1:22 AM

There are just as many reports that Harry is staying at Frog Cott as there are that he is staying at Nott Cott. Wherever he is, he's avoiding William like the Plague--never mind COVID.

If Wills and Harry don't see each other until the funeral, then this trip will have accomplished nothing as far helping to fix a broken family especially if Harry leaves shortly after the funeral. Phone calls do nothing if they are even speaking to each other. Markle needs to back off and give them some time together, but that probably won't happen.

by Anonymousreply 558April 14, 2021 1:30 AM

The stories about Frogmore seem to be those where Sunshine Sucks commonly places stories. MeAgain is likely trying to create the impression that some in the family support them. Given the consequences of their actions for the Queen and Prince Philip, unlikely. And now they have all been branded as racists as well.

William and his family have been in the country for the pandemic so Harry is isolated AND quarrantined at Kensington Palace. If at Windsor he might give another ghastly interview in front of the stables like a loon or attempt to confront his grandmother and demand that public apology for MeAgain or cash, who KNOWS what he might do? Best to keep him right in his old bachelor pad with no one around.

Wow. That is SO big of her!

Everything's better now.

by Anonymousreply 573April 14, 2021 2:57 AM

Why is the media promoting this breathless narrative to the effect that it's imperative for Wills + Harry to come together in forgiveness, and it's all so suspenseful as to whether this "broken family can come together" on this precious opportunity with Harry coming across the pond? The BRF is not broken. They're fine. Harry excised himself from it in spectacularly destructive and stupid fashion, but why must Prince Philip's funeral be pitched as a CRUCIAL OPPORTUNITY FOR MENDING AND HEALING A TRAGIC RIFT? Why do we have to be in suspense as to whether this CHANCE WILL BE LOST??? It's ridiculous.

[quote] Remember that the family had known Fergie since she was a little girl.

Fergie's father, Major Ronald Ferguson, was first Philip's and then Charles' polo manager for many years. The families weren't close but they were very friendly and Fergie played with the royal children as a child. As they grew up, they all ran in the same social circles. The Fergusons weren't titled but they descended from aristocrats and were well off "landed gentry" as Fergie once described it. Fergie herself was directly descended from Charles I through illegitimate offspring and she and Andrew are very distantly related through other Royal ancestors.

Feegie's mother abandoned the family when Fergie was in her teens and ran off with an Argentinean polo player. Fergie has traced the beginnings of her bulimia to dealing with that experience.

by Anonymousreply 575April 14, 2021 3:02 AM

Agree wholeheartedly, R574. The service should be dignified and focused on Philip, of course. Hopefully this will not be another opportunity for Harrry to act out and humiliate his family, he has done so for decades.

by Anonymousreply 576April 14, 2021 3:02 AM

R574. People think that perhaps now that Harry is in the same country, he can start to reconcile a bit with his brother and father. No one thinks that any discussion can happen before the funeral. This week and the day of the funeral the focus should be on Philip and the queen.

However, if Harry were to stay beyond the funeral, perhaps even a few days, there might be a possibility for some reconciliation. However, if Harry leaves the UK shortly after the funeral, any chance of reconciliation will have vanished for some time to come because you can't reconcile over the phone half a world away. I believe people are thinking that Harry and his brother and father may want to be friends. But if Harry doesn't allow the three of them to talk, then yes, the opportunity is missed for the foreseeable future and the animosity remains.

by Anonymousreply 577April 14, 2021 3:16 AM

[quote]Feegie's mother abandoned the family when Fergie was in her teens and ran off with an Argentinean polo player.

by Anonymousreply 578April 14, 2021 3:16 AM

There is no sign whatsoever that Harry regrets what he has done, R577. Surely that would be required?

by Anonymousreply 579April 14, 2021 3:18 AM

Yes, R577, I get what people are thinking, but WHY? WHY would it be imperative for there to be reconciliation, especially so soon after behavior by the Sussexes that is just about unforgivable? WHY does this visit by Harry JUST HAVE TO BE an opportunity for "coming together"? WHY would it be A TERRIBLE SHAME if that doesn't happen on this trip? It's asinine.

by Anonymousreply 580April 14, 2021 3:20 AM

Didn't Fergie in good faith believe she was in private behind a wall or fence while cavorting with the Texas Toe-Sucker? Didn't some paparazzo get the shot through a fence, or something? I think Phil was hard on her, it's not like she was deliberately making an exhibition of herself . . . He forgave Chucko for the tampon thing.

by Anonymousreply 581April 14, 2021 3:26 AM

R579. No, Harry doesn't have to regret anything. He can stick by his decision to move away. I just think there is a general assumption that perhaps he, William and Charles might want to get along at some point and at the end of this week might be a good starting point. Sometimes families do try and make amends with each other eventually. It doesn't mean that Harry has to regret sticking by his wife (as horrible as she is). But what are they all going to do--not talk to each other forever...or have this stalemate go on for another year? Who knows...maybe they don't care if they talk.

by Anonymousreply 582April 14, 2021 3:28 AM

But he did not just move away, R582. Are you familiar with the Oprah interview and the strong arm tactics and leaking of private calls that followed? And the fact that Philip was hospitalized the very next day after the family was told about the interview? And that despite knowing Philip was dying and making a big drama about a jet on standby, Harry did not go to see him before his death?

by Anonymousreply 583April 14, 2021 3:31 AM

R581. Yes, the paparazzi tracked Sarah down. They were ruthless in their pursuit to embarrass her. The press loved Sarah until they didn't, like most of the royals. But they were especially mean to her. She has amazing perseverance to have bounced back over the years and still maintain a fairly upbeat personality.

by Anonymousreply 584April 14, 2021 3:32 AM

The family has nothing to apologize for after spending millions on that duplicitous bitch while bending over backwards to cover up her outrageous behavior, just as they have spent decades doing for Harry.

Nobody in that dysfunctional family is putting up with the gruesome twosome's shit any more. He better be in and out very quick and not cause any more problems while he's there.

The two still think they still have cards to play. They are so naive. The family has not yet brought out the big guns.

The issue of trust is touched on in this vid.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 586April 14, 2021 3:41 AM

R583. Yes, I am familiar with it all. Very familiar. Harry's a selfish punk who behaved horribly along with his wife. But you can break the ice until someone starts talking. But for all the speculation, maybe they all don't care whether or not they talk...or maybe they think that over time it will all be sorted out. It just seems that they are at an impasse now. Harry doesn't need their money any longer. He's got his own via Spotify and Netflix at least for a while. Bottom line is he and his wife self-aggrandizing idiots who overplayed their hand and caused international embarrassment. I guess the thought was that possibly they all might want to come to some sort of a meeting of the minds. But maybe not. Maybe they all don't really care at the moment.

by Anonymousreply 587April 14, 2021 3:42 AM

R587, they were demanding a public apology from the familly to Meghan immediately before Philip's death. Harry had Gayle King parrot private conversations on American televisoin. Harry DOES want their money and his wife wants titles and I think they both want to burn it all down if they cannot rule themselves. The family has few cards to play. It is extremely likely that the most innocuous comments will be relayed to Meghan's mouthpieces like Scobie.

If it were my family it would be hard to get past the fact that their actions may have hastened Philip's death and caused tremendous stress for the Queen in particular, an elderly woman whose husband was dying. Instead, any moment that was spent strategizing about the Terrible Twosome was literally robbed from the family's final weeks with Phillip.

The rebuilding of trust would have to begin with actions by Harry, he is the one who broke it, not just with the interview, ghastly as that was branding the whole family as racist, but leaking private call content to Gayle King. That was just a few weeks ago.

I am quite sure that there is still love for and worry for Harry. Had he come to see Philip before his death, that would have been a gesture. Perhaps he will choose to behave appropriately at the funeral, one can only hope. Markle has kept her PR placing stories this week, she is likely to do somethng to draw further attention to herself, these types always do.

It has nothing to do with Harry moving away, I am sure that was quite a RELIEF.

by Anonymousreply 588April 14, 2021 3:51 AM

It's all so embarrassing.

by Anonymousreply 589April 14, 2021 4:14 AM

When people have acted destructively and with malice towards you, your family and the life's work of your family, on a global scale, it would take actions by the offender to rebuild trust if that is even possible. When he claims the mantle of victim and deplanes with a grin, ball is in his court.
