Spandau Ballet's Gary Kemp releases new music and album.

Lovely lush music with very catchy guitars riffs. Dry vocals though. This should have been a Spandau Ballet song but without Tony in the band it wouldn't work.

Does anyone EVER want to hear new music from one hit wonders of the 80s?

by Anonymousreply 1April 8, 2021 9:49 PM

R1 knows nothing.

by Anonymousreply 2April 8, 2021 9:51 PM

He would do better to have another 80s artist on vocals, then they could tour two catalogues. Paul Young has lost his voice, but someone in that vein.

Kids today are not interested in grandpa singers

by Anonymousreply 4April 8, 2021 9:55 PM

Sounds like the theme song from a Marsha Mason movie that never got made.

I haven't heard that phrase in forty years!

That's sounds delightful! Thanks for that!

Martin Kemp is still hot, now a silver fox. Amazed he’s still married to Shirley from Wham.

by Anonymousreply 9April 9, 2021 12:42 AM

He probably has his whores, though.

by Anonymousreply 10April 9, 2021 12:43 AM

I want someone to put together a Marsha Mason montage and have this song playing and then put it on youtube. Hilarious!

by Anonymousreply 11April 9, 2021 1:53 AM

yum-oooooooooo!

Nice catchy song but dated as hell.

Love Spandau Ballet, this song not so much. He sure was pretty though.

But what about Pepsi?

by Anonymousreply 16April 9, 2021 9:14 PM

R14 That's why I can dig it, as it definitely has a seventies flair. I'm keen on new music that sounds like a different decade. When others see things as dated, I often find them more interesting. Thanks for posting this OP.

by Anonymousreply 17April 9, 2021 9:55 PM

I too would like to know what happened to Pepsi. Was she left alone?

by Anonymousreply 18April 9, 2021 10:10 PM

Madonna had her destroyed.

by Anonymousreply 19April 9, 2021 10:12 PM

I can't believe he's not bald!

by Anonymousreply 20April 9, 2021 10:13 PM

I liked Spandau Ballet, but this song is somehow lacking.

I compare it to another new song release by a 1980s new wave band, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, 'Don't Go', which was really strong and very evocative of their earlier successes.

OP, that was awful. Dismal.

by Anonymousreply 22April 9, 2021 10:23 PM

Yeah, it does look like Grandpa Rock . I was hoping the comments were being overly critical. He’s dressed like he’s an extra in a mafia movie.

by Anonymousreply 23April 10, 2021 12:03 AM

Spandau Ballet themselves had this out a few months ago. Listen at your peril.

Never mind. It's an old recording.

by Anonymousreply 25April 11, 2021 2:09 AM

I saw Spandau Ballet about 6 years ago, it was a great show. They really were the best New Romantic band of the 80s. Gary writes great songs but they aren't much without Tony Hadley's distinctive voice.

Me too. Both nights at the Wiltern in Los Angeles!

What do the DL Brits think of this?
