Don’t You Forget About Me
Please share memories that are wistful, bittersweet, unforgettable, life-changing, and affirming that you have with others, be they family, lovers, friends, or people that touched your life if only briefly.
I included a link to Simple Minds’ “Don’t You Forget About Me” because it evokes so many of the aforementioned memories for me.

I'd often think of my cousin, whom I haven't seen in years. We used to play together as young children. He was a year older than I was, and attended the same schools. I envied him for his outgoing nature (I was a more quiet child). Everyone loved him, because he was such a nice obliging guy, always ready to lend a hand. In high school he was involved with plays and musical entertainments. I honestly had no idea he was gay. At that time, it was a well-kept secret.
After he went off to university, I lost track of him. A while back I decided to do some research, and found that not only was he out and proud, but has a prestigious job and is a member of The Gay Men's Chorus of a certain large city.
