Cynthia Nixon may have another go in 2022 for NYS governor. It is likely going to be a crowded field not only because Cuomo (if he decides to run for a fourth term) is seen as politically weakened by recent scandal, but that people simply may think it's time for him to go after 12 years.

Then you have recent NYS budget with increased taxes, aid to illegal immigrants, and other things that play well for downstate, but for rest of NY things are often different. There are still DMV workers upstate who don't want to issue illegal aliens drivers licenses, this over a year after Cuomo changed that law.

It's going to be a battle no matter how you look at things largely within NYS democrat party itself. The uber liberal progressive socialist democrats who now control much of state senate and assembly believe they have wind at their backs, and are looking to consolidate gains. If they can get one of their own in as governor that would be huge.
