Oh boy.
Disney delays Death On The Nile again, buying some time to figure out what to do about Armie Hammer

Just not release it and write it off the books as a loss.

Lazy rehash, insult to the 1978 masterpiece
by Anonymous | reply 2 | April 20, 2021 4:18 PM |
They did this for Brooke Shields when she made BRENDA STARR and previews were so terrible that they just shelved it.
by Anonymous | reply 3 | April 20, 2021 4:31 PM |
Just release it. Most people don’t have any clue about the Armie Hammee scandal and most won’t care anyway.
by Anonymous | reply 4 | April 20, 2021 4:33 PM |
Maybe they could just do a deepfake and skin over his face with another actor. Tig Notaro? Timotay? Tammy?
by Anonymous | reply 5 | April 20, 2021 4:37 PM |
These Agatha Christie retreads are so awful. And unnecessary.
Much like Armie himself.
by Anonymous | reply 6 | April 20, 2021 4:40 PM |
This was always going to do best in streaming anyway. I don't know why they thought it should go to cinemas. Yeah, Knives Out did well for it's budget but it starred James Bond doing a KFC accent and Captain America in his first post Marvel role and playing a villain to boot. In other words, it had franchise heavyweights in the lead. This movie has the star of Lone Ranger and thought it could open big in cinemas? Just dump it in streaming, no promo necessary and let it find it's audience there.

These allegations of sadistic sexual predation are nature's way of forcing Hollywood to stop trying to make Armie Hammer happen.

It also features Gal, who is Wonder Woman (and, to be fair, it was filmed before WW1984 came out). But, I guess, since she is a woman she doesn't count for you.
And "the star of Lone Ranger"? Is that supposed to be a diss? Fail.
by Anonymous | reply 9 | April 20, 2021 4:58 PM |
R9 you do know that Lone Ranger was Disney's biggest flop over that decade, right? It's a legendary bomb. They lost close to 200M on it. And nobody was ever checking for Gal Gadot you delusional cunt. WW turned out to be a one hit wonder precisely because nobody was checking for her, they were only ever in it for the character.
by Anonymous | reply 10 | April 20, 2021 5:12 PM |
r10, you stupid twat. Hammer wasn't THE STAR of Lone Ranger, Johnny Depp was. NOBODY associates Hammer with Lone Star. Unless she's a sad cunt like you.
by Anonymous | reply 11 | April 20, 2021 5:42 PM |
sorry, nobody associates Hammer with Lone Ranger.

The why, by your logic, were people driven to Knives Out if they only wanted to see James Bond and Captain America?

This is one film that didn't need to be remade. The 1978 version is fantastic.

It was a God awful bore like the rest of these Christie rehashes, except for Anthony Powell’s costumes and Simon MacCorkindale’s profile. Even Mags and Bette were wasted.
The fact it blurs with that other Christie snooze fest Evil Under The Sun, that again was only redeemed by Powell’s costumes and the divine body of Nicholas Clay, says everything.

Who the hell wanted to see the Disney name slapped onto an Agatha Christie novel anyway?
by Anonymous | reply 16 | April 20, 2021 6:05 PM |
They probably want to do a Death on the Nile ride at Orlando.

Klinton Spilsbury is making a comeback?

Would be perfect if they ever add an Egypt pavilion to EPCOT.

R11 and how tragic is that for him. The biggest budget movie he was in was both a mega flop and nobody even remembers him in it anyway. Like how CMBYN is Chalamets triumph and barely anyone remembers this freak was in it.
by Anonymous | reply 20 | April 21, 2021 6:10 AM |
r20 that's why the diss at r7 didn't work at all.
by Anonymous | reply 21 | April 21, 2021 6:14 AM |
R13 Your Charmies are clearly dumber than that stupid movie. Atmospheric murder mysteries don't do well in theaters which is why they are rarely made for wide release. Knives Out had Marvel and Bond funs excited and they are decidedly theatre going cohorts. Nobody was ever checking for this cold bowl of oatmeal in theaters and Gal Gadot can't even make that second WW a hit. Send this crap to streaming where it fucking belongs.

R21 You spend your day reading over past threads looking for comedic material? Girl, you are sad. You know damn well that movie had no business in theaters anyway. It was always going to bomb and end up on VOD.

What's sad is you murdering any sense in your own argument. Past threads? I am referring to a comment made less than twenty comments ago in this very thread. Does it take you a whole day to get through 20 comments? And I am the sad one? Gurl, you should rebrand yourself as Projector, because you're projecting so hard it can be seen from outer space.

And after all the adaptations, brilliant, good, mediocre and terrible that have been done of her work, this post makes me laugh- imagining that this is the one where Christie's ghost just goes: "Nup! I'm done!"

[R28] Yes she plays Mrs. Bowers the role Maggie Smith had in 1978.
