Pit bulls should be banned. This has nothing to do with race. They are more often than not, the breed of dogs that are linked to violent attacks and deaths. Of your chihuahua turns on you it will just make a few small bites. These bastards will fuck you up. The people who raise these types of animals usually do things to make the poor dogs more vicious on purpose. To deny this fact is ignorance at its finest.

I know so many people who had the loving Pit Bull that was misunderstood as a violent breed suddenly turn on them or their neighbor. Even if they are not abused or trained that way, they still are ticking time bombs. It happens all the time. People need to face facts.

It would be such a shame if cities who had originally banned pit bulls but were forced to overturn that ban because of race.

I live in a fairly nice gated condo complex; last week an older lady was out in the common area with her Yorkie when a pit Pit Bull broke loose from it's owner and killed her Yorkie. As the lady was trying to save her dog, the Pit mauled the lady's arm. Very sad.

Your uncle would be stupid to bring their pit bull to Ontario. The dog could be seized by Animal Control and the court might have to make a determination to destroy the dog (this does happen under the Dog Owner's Liability Act).

I saw a case where a gentleman was attacked by a pit bull, the dog was seized by Animal Control and the Court had to decide whether or not to destroy the dog. I'm not sure what was the outcome.

R10 I agree - it doesn’t have anything to do with the dogs being necessarily more violent, but that no dog is entirely reliable, and if a tiny dog has a breakdown and bites you it won’t do so much damage, but if a pit Bull does it could kill you. It’s strength capacity doesn’t mesh with being a pet unfortunately.

r28 I heard about the attack from my downstairs neighbor who is a board member of the HOA. About a week before I was taking out my trash and saw a young guy walking a Pit, he got way to close for comfort. I think they are going to ban aggressive breeds.

I grew up in the suburbs where dogs roamed the neighborhood. You got to know the breeds and which to stay away from. When a dog bit you my parents would ask us what we did to the dog. (pull it's tail etc) They were right most of the time. I was never bitten by a dog where I wasn't responsible. I don't remember Pit Bulls. I was always told that you don't get a dog that has an aggressive history if you weren't aggressive with training. In our area Pit Bulls are a problem but I didn't realize there was race involved.

This is all silly. Find a hood veterinarian, and tell them that you found a dog on the street and rescued it. It wandered into your yard. Tell them that you love the dog, and are moving away. They are not going to mark that dog as a Pitt. Just play stupid.

R28 - happened in my condo complex about 10 years ago. We had this crazy lady who was 55 and full of plastic surgery and fake boobs. She was firmly convinced that every man in that complex wanted to fuck her (there were about 10 Russian girls who were 19 at the pool all the time so NOBODY was looking at the cat lady) so she and her (much younger) skinny short husband from Spain got a pit bull. Her idiot of a husband wouldn't abide by the HOA rules regarding leashes and the dog killed another neighbor's cat. They ended up getting sued and moved away soon after.

These dogs are grotesque and there should be a mass cull of the breed. The rate of dementia in pit bulls is high and an animal that has been docile all its life can turn and attack you if it develops dementia after age ten.

I hope the ministry of the attorney general tells your uncle to shove it. I just saw an article within the last week about about 2 pit bulls mauling a 3-year-old to death and putting his mother in the hospital, where she was in critical condition.

A few days ago, in New Jersey...a three year old child was mauled to death, by two pit bulls from a neighboring yard. There were high fences between the homes, but the dogs managed to dig under, got into the other yard... killing the child and seriously injuring the mother. There were complaints about the dogs, before the attack. This breed should be phased out and I have no problem banning them.

Have to respect Ontario. Smart legislation.

Our new neighbors just moved in with a giant pit bull, he's really sweet and I give him treats thru the fence where I hope he will STAY. But he did get out and came directly over to us and I took him back and put him in the fence where he needs to STAY. We'll be friends thru the fence where he needs to STAY. I want to stay on his good side hence the treats and scratches thru the fence, but he needs to STAY in the fence.
