I agree, they are online hosts. There are millions that have tried and a handful have risen to the top. they have something that gets them noticed and get them an audience who watches their content and buys their merch and other products. One of the issues though is that so many started so young that they don't have education or any other life experience or skills. They haven't developed anything outside of their brand.

I watched a video by the Dolan twins where they talked about how burnt out they were - how their lives 24/7 had been consumed by their work - they were 19!!. they found it pretty isolating because most of what they do is from behind a camera / computer and they felt immense pressure to produce, produce, produce because their managers / agents etc keep telling them that this is temporary and can end anytime so you can't take breaks or branch out to try new things. Part of the reason for their burn out was that they didn't even take time off when their father died. So rather than grieving, they were still producing content. It seems in the last year, taking a break has started to be a thing with many youtubers, and they seem to be able to do it without losing massive audiences.

The beauty clan is like the online version of real housewives. They have entire reddit subs and multiple 'tea' and drama channels dedicated to gossip about them and their audiences who stoke the fires under every little things that is said and done.
