Is the pejorative term “Average White Guy” only used by jealous BIPOC / People Of Color?

I use the term here only, because Dataloungers in general have very vanilla, conservative tastes in guys. Its a jab at the grandma taste in men, it just so happens that the guys are mostly white.

The current thread about Jared Kushner is a great example. I wouldn't give him a second glance IRL because he's just very plain IMO, but apparently people here are hot for him. I love sexy ass white men and IMO Jared is not one of them! AWG all day.

I'm a white woman in big tech. I've used "mediocre white guy" for about 15 years. Big tech is busting with them. They're early thirties, working their way up to middle management or have wedged themselves in there already, all have the same hair cuts, same clothes, drive the same cars and go on the same vacations. They're forgettable, interchangeable, and live in the same faux-chic downtown apartments. That's how I've always thought about it.

r4, these trolls have a bullet list of divisive discussion topics (e.g., society victimizing whites) and these trolls run with it, posting random shit on discussion boards to see what gets traction.

If you didn't have a chip on your shoulder, OP, you wouldn't sound so triggered. Average white guys aren't triggered by this descriptor because they have enough common sense to know 90% it's not derogatory and even when used in such a manner they have enough of a humor about themselves to laugh it off and go on about their day. The AWG aka “Everyman” archetype has been a standardized, bland, inoffensive, mediocre-looking actor with little displayed talent who are cast in leading roles paired with a hot actress.

R28, "black and brown" was doing well for a couple of years there, but BIPOC really took off after George Floyd died, because the academic view of things, which prioritises black people and indigenous people (due to the academy's focus on colonialism), got a lot of airtime last summer. Think Ibram X. Kendi et al. It was somewhat prescient as Hispanic voters showed later that year that they are much less monolithic than had been hoped, and prominent "woke" figures, like Nikole Hannah Jones, inveighed against the many Hispanic Americans who voted for Trump.

Regarding average looking guys like Kushner or Zuckerberg. People underestimate the appeal of success these guys have. Their level of fame or success makes them more appealing to some (not me, of course).
