Your favorite gay pop songs?

As in, pop songs by gay men. Preferably not mainstream. Examples include Chris Salvatore, Ari Gold (RIP), Cazwell, etc.

Dirty Love by Chris Salvatore is so hot!

Both of those songs make me want to never listen to music again. Thanks a lot.

Anything by John Grant (though I prefer his folkier stuff with The Czars)

But where is the melody?

OP, can you post pics of Salvatore without the hideous bladed eyebrows? Thx

This one.

It’s been 15 years or more, but there was a gay bar in Long Beach, CA where a bartender had had a few fun gay pop songs that were mildly successful, but more locally known. One in particular was quite the ear worm. Anyone recall this?

by Anonymousreply 11Last Wednesday at 6:35 AM

Matt Alber, "End of the World."

It was probably more about the exquisitely beautiful jock, but Soccer Practice also had a fun ear worm quality.

This is now almost 35 years old, which is terrifying.

But it still rocks.

The guy in the sleeveless red shirt at r13 was Jonny McGovern himself. He was so pretty then, and he is unrecognizable now.

Morel - True (The Faggot Is You)

I found it addictive. Richard Morel should have a much bigger career.

R16 Ummm, NO! He’s the one wearing the Gay Pimp shirt.

So Hard, by the Pet Shop Boys.

We've both given up smoking 'cause it's fatal So whose matches are those?

I hope this qualifies, despite the rowdy straights in the video.

R4 beat me to it, but John Grant is great. Pale Green Ghosts was all over the place a couple of years ago.

Chris Salvatore may be gay but his video shows a lot of lesbosex and no homogaysex. Guess he was shooting for the mainstream dance clubs.

by Anonymousreply 24Last Wednesday at 7:57 AM

These are all terrible. Autotuned to hell, and stupid, writhing visuals. I suddenly want to go STRAIGHT for fucks sake.

by Anonymousreply 25Last Wednesday at 8:10 AM

DL seems to hate him, but I find Scotty Dynamo adorable and love his white boy rap bravado and cheesyness.

Around 2015, I came across an EDM song sung by a black woman but it was written and produced by a white gay twink is kind of guy with blond hair. I can’t remember or find it. Anyone know a gay producer who lives in West Hollywood? It wasn’t a hit, but it was a good song.

The eternal DL theme song.

Why do gay songs and videos only celebrate heterosexuality?

by Anonymousreply 29Last Wednesday at 8:46 AM

Gregory Douglass' "Hang Around" brought something a little bit different to "gay pop" back in the 00s

I can't believe no one has posted "Pop You in the Pooper" yet.

DL, you're slipping.

Tom Goss was overrated for me, but he's matured into a decent songwriter. Just needs to reel in the sexy videos with the husband. We get it!

But on the other hand, I love this song/video from Faith No More's keyboard player, Roddy Bottum, and his boyfriend. It's more playful and timely as it stems from a lockdown project between the couple. Silly and gay. And made many Faith No More fanboys recoil at the homosex so it's pushing boundaries.

Faith by George Michaels because a in 8th grade I snuck this movie under my parent's noses and ended up in love with Ian Somerhalder (not a fan anymore) and the idea of being an out gay man in college. Couldn't wait to leave home to jump on beds with hot guys in my underwear. Actually ended up doing that with a hot Canadian friend in Vegas one drunken night to this song at the Flamingo. Windows open in the middle of the night, no shits given.
