patterns in Covid new daily cases

It goes up for 3-5 days and then it goes significantly lower for 1-2 days. Does this mean reporting is different on weekends? Illness doesn't get a weekend.

The weekend effect has not gone unnoticed, as in the linked article.

If you were sick and your first/only option were to go to a hospital, would you choose Friday night? Saturday? Sunday? Or might you try to hold off until Monday? With Covid there's some element of choice for many people who admit themselves.
