Tall Story is a little hard to watch because Tony plays a BMOC star basketball player at a college and Jane is the girl who tries to get him. He just doesn't come across as very masc in this movie, to me. He's better playing offbeat characters like Norman Bates (he was great). He also was not very believable playing Jimmy Piersall, a pro baseball player with issues. He could play the issues, but he didn't seem straight, to me. I told this in another thread but Tab Hunter played the same role on TV, and Tony immediately went and grabbed it for himself as a movie, before Tab even had a chance. Tab said their relationship cooled after that.
