Yes- the interior could use a modern touch- but Im sure the family that owns it has owned it for YEARS- these places dont come on the market very often. I want to see it after the renovation- Its nice...... But it could be STUNNING!!!

The estate agent is blandly nice, maybe if you wanted a cuddle. Too soft and fluffy.

The villa though is a mess, a great site but the terraces need a lot of attention to be made interesting and comfortable spaces; at present they are too low-maintenance rental property. The interior is a disaster: low ceilings, terrible and choppy floor plan, ugly windows. It's the architecture more than the decor that's worrisome.

I'd pass on the funicular and find a house that wasn't a dog's dinner of poor design.

Gorgeous place, and redoing the interior is not a big deal. The biggest problem with Positano, IMO -- apart from the tourist hordes -- is that the whole town is up and down steps, so it's practically impossible to drive to your home when, say, you've got groceries, or guests, or caterers or workers coming, or need an ambulance. It's really a place for vacationing just a few weeks a year when you just want to hang out, not suitable for day-to-day living.

The villa isnt completely hideous, just done in a very Southern European style, redecorating could conceal some of the worst of it with paint and floor coverings, curtains etc. As it stands its ugly but livable. The gardens and outdoor areas though are really nice, and in such a beautiful location you probably wouldnt spend a lot of time inside anyway. As R25 says currently its been done up with the aim of it being low-maintenance rental property, which is part of the reason its ugly inside

It's difficult to correct poor proportions and low ceilings and awkwardly sized windows with a little redecorating.

In 10 years with a little chest hair and he might become fuckable.

The Amalfi Coast is probably one of the most beautiful areas in the world, would love to live there

R67, I've been to both, but only Portofino twice. Positano is a PITA to walk down to and up from! At the video's very end you can see the small-ish beach area; that's where the stone steps lead to.

P.S. Portofino is the one with the gorgeous harbor setting.
