Random Act of Kindness

Yesterday, just as I was pulling into work I got a message that there had been an unexpected death in the family. (not covid) I had to scramble to arrange for someone to cover me at work and then go home again. As I was pulling into the driveway I noticed something on the top of my mailbox -it looked like a rock. I was too preoccupied to pay much attention. After a day of tears and funeral arrangements and hand-holding I went out to get the mail and saw that it was, indeed, a rock. It had been beautifully painted with detailed flowers. There were similar rocks on most of the neighbors' mailboxes. No flyer. No advertisement. Just flowers. It's hard to believe how much that simple, random act of kindness lifted my heart. I don't expect whoever did this will see my post, but I wanted to share just how meaningful a little bit of unexpected kindness can be. Thank you.
