Stage 4 cancer diagnosis
I wouldn't wish this on anyone (well almost anyone) so that is too bad.
That said he was apparently a giant dick, so he should hope his former co-stars are better people than him, and help him out, cause from all accounts he burned every possible bridge.

I started the below-linked thread on his hospitalization. I’m not a fan, but here’s to his “speed”-y recovery.

At this point, r3, that “big break” would have to be her hip.

Yikes. That’s really bad.

If it’s stage 4 and he feels pain all over his body, then it doesn’t sound like there’s going to be any recovery, “speed-y” or otherwise, unfortunately.

I don’t mind your starting a thread about this in the least. Mine was about the hospitalization; yours is about his cancer, a much bleaker subject. You’re not worse than Hitler.

R11 and r12 are too wholesome for DL. Cunts.
It’s a *little* suspect given the relaunch of SBTB and all of the recent publicity regarding him not being invited to participate.

He’s only 44.

I knew Dustin Diamond back in the late 90's; he was a close friend of a good friend of mine. We went to see bands at small venues, out to eat, football games, etc. I think it was around the time the last iteration of Saved by the Bell was dying a slow death. People recognized him wherever we were and he was, for the most part, gracious. But it wore on him, since people can be jerks, making jokes at his expense.
But he also blew through whatever he was earning doing the TV show. I never witnessed him doing anything but weed and coke, but it would not surprise me if he did. Sometimes, he was way out of it in a not good way. You know how you know sometimes you feel like there is something wrong with somebody? That was how I felt being around him.
Too bad for Dustin, a true example of a child actor, with all its itinerant problems.

In 2002 he participated in Celebrity Boxing against Ron Palillo from WELCOME BACK KOTTER. Palillo was 53. Diamond was 25. I’m not sure what Palillo was thinking.
Ron Palillo died from a heart attack 10 years later, leaving behind his partner of 41 years Joseph Gramm.

If he presented with a lump in his throat and shingles, it's highly suspicious for a blood cancer like lymphoma or leukemia.
The fact that he's already in chemo also makes me think it's a blood cancer.
Even at Stage 4, those cancers are considered curable.
by Anonymous | reply 18 | January 15, 2021 1:40 AM |
#18, do you mean treatable or curable? Because cancer is rarely 'cured'.
by Anonymous | reply 19 | January 15, 2021 3:22 AM |
It depends on the cancer.
Stage 4 blood cancers are considered curable. So is S4 testicular cancer, because it's very sensitive to platinum-based chemotherapy drugs.
Most other Stage 4 cancers—breast, lung, brain, colon, etc.—are considered treatable but not curable, because chemo regimens haven't yet been developed that are curative.

Poor guy. I don’t really know his story, but I like big penises, and also my hypochondria has come back with a vengeance in the COVID era, and I’ve been worried about getting cancer and dying. I hope Diamond pulls through, and I hope I can, too, should I receive a similar diagnosis.
by Anonymous | reply 23 | January 15, 2021 7:24 AM |
It’s a shame. It really is.
Scarier even since he “found a lump in his throat” (insert emotion joke here) and it was metastatic Stage 4! How does a person not feel anything prior to that? Or think something is wrong? That’s some scary shit.

UPDATE:
Dustin Diamond has completed his first round of chemo after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer ... according to his team.
The "Saved by the Bell" star is still in the hospital and is doing everything he can to deal with his diagnosis ... which his team tells TMZ is stage 4 small cell carcinoma.
This is commonly referred to as advanced lung cancer, but in Dustin's case ... we're told the cancer started elsewhere in his body and metastasized in his lungs. His next round of chemo is being scheduled soon.
His team says he will also begin physical therapy, and adds that Dustin is keeping a positive outlook and is looking forward to spending more time with his girlfriend. We're told he's also enjoying playing his bass guitar (learning songs by Tool and Foo Fighters) and video games ... and making videos for his fans on social media.
We broke the story ... Diamond, best known for playing Screech on the hit '90s sitcom, was hospitalized earlier this month in Florida after feeling pain all over his body and a general sense of unease.
From the get-go, there was concern he had cancer due to his family history, and sadly ... that concern became a scary reality.
Dustin's team says he's been receiving a bunch of fan mail wishing him well, and will be getting it to him at the hospital to lift his spirits soon.
by Anonymous | reply 38 | January 21, 2021 10:04 PM |
I said this was going to happen. With COVID and people not going for annual physicals and delaying getting ailments checked, so many people over the next year or two will be told they have Stage 4 cancers.

A friend of ours was diagnosed with a lung cancer and it metastasized into his bowel. Or vice versa. This was over a year ago. He’s been through a lot of chemo and, incredibly, is doing very well. A year ago, we thought he was a goner, but he’s still here and thriving.

Lark Voorhies sent out a lovely message to Dustin the other day that lowkey shaded the other members of SBTB, so I think there's probably some truth in Dustin saying that he was treated like an outcast by them. They treated Lark like crap for many years as well, even though she suffers from bipolar disorder.
Dustin exhibits many signs of someone who was bullied for many years and never really learned to cope or confront people properly. Thus the obligatory hatchet job book. And while that book might be full of shit in some parts, I've no doubt there's some truth in other parts as well. I totally believe that the others got huge chips on their shoulders and distanced themselves from Dustin as the show became a massive hit.

Something is wrong here. Small cell cancer of the lung a is a bronchogenic carcinoma, which means it starts in the lung. So he either doesn’t have small cell carcinoma or he has it & it started in his lungs. Small cell carcinoma of the lung is a death sentence, but access to a high level of health care & a lack of heavy drinking history can extend life longer than someone who had bad health care access & has a heavy history of alcohol use.

He must have had a good doctor (or maybe good insurance) because with the vague symptoms of "pain all over" and "general sense of unease," they would assume you are drug seeking or maybe depressed and send you on your way with a Rx for 10 Vicodin or maybe a starter Rx of Prozac and referral to mental health services.

[quote] because with the vague symptoms of "pain all over"
Small cell lung cancer is a metastatic cancer and by the time it’s diagnosed it has already metastasized. It has an affinity for spreading to the bone, the bowels & the brain. It especially likes to affect the femur, which often breaks, requiring the cancer sufferer to have hip surgery before dying. It’s a bitch of a disease,

[quote] Fortunately people with stage 4 disease do go into remission. The therapy is a bitch but it does happen.
With small cell carcinoma of the lung? They don’t go into “remission.” They always have the cancer still in the body, metastasizing. Oncologic drugs can keep it controlled for about 18 months, then the cancer overwhelms the treatment. They usually add radiological therapy to the drugs towards the end and the patient becomes septic. For stage 4 small cell cancer the 5 year survival rate is about 3%
. Meaning 97% are not alive 5 years after diagnosis.
People really don’t understand that there are different kinds of lung cancer.
by Anonymous | reply 56 | January 22, 2021 12:55 AM |
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is the most deadly kind of lung cancer to have,
Then there is non small-cell carcinoma (NSCLC) of the lung and there are about 5 different kinds of NSCLC).
by Anonymous | reply 57 | January 22, 2021 1:04 AM |
My mom had Stage 4 NSCLC and kept it under control for 5 years, then she was one of the unlucky 5% for which it transformed into SCLC. The SCLC killed her in less than a month.

If you believe TMZ’s story and his team’s statement they claim it started somewhere other than his lungs and it appears they looked into the idea of him having cancer based upon his family’s history.
