SAVED BY THE BELL’s Screech is Fucked

Stage 4 cancer diagnosis

by Anonymousreply 77January 28, 2021 3:52 AM

I wouldn't wish this on anyone (well almost anyone) so that is too bad.

That said he was apparently a giant dick, so he should hope his former co-stars are better people than him, and help him out, cause from all accounts he burned every possible bridge.

by Anonymousreply 1January 14, 2021 11:38 PM

I started the below-linked thread on his hospitalization. I’m not a fan, but here’s to his “speed”-y recovery.

Showgirls 2: Nomi's Big Break, will be dedicated to him.

by Anonymousreply 3January 14, 2021 11:47 PM

At this point, r3, that “big break” would have to be her hip.

by Anonymousreply 4January 14, 2021 11:53 PM

Karma.

Yikes. That’s really bad.

[quote] but here’s to his “speed”-y recovery.

If it’s stage 4 and he feels pain all over his body, then it doesn’t sound like there’s going to be any recovery, “speed-y” or otherwise, unfortunately.

by Anonymousreply 10January 15, 2021 12:38 AM

R2, I knew about your thread, but figured this breaking news would get lost in there. Somebody else would just do what I did.

by Anonymousreply 11January 15, 2021 12:39 AM

[quote] R2, I knew about your thread, but figured this breaking news would get lost in there. Somebody else would just do what I did.

I don’t mind your starting a thread about this in the least. Mine was about the hospitalization; yours is about his cancer, a much bleaker subject. You’re not worse than Hitler.

by Anonymousreply 12January 15, 2021 12:50 AM

R11 and r12 are too wholesome for DL. Cunts.

It’s a *little* suspect given the relaunch of SBTB and all of the recent publicity regarding him not being invited to participate.

by Anonymousreply 13January 15, 2021 1:01 AM

He’s only 44.

by Anonymousreply 14January 15, 2021 1:09 AM

I knew Dustin Diamond back in the late 90's; he was a close friend of a good friend of mine. We went to see bands at small venues, out to eat, football games, etc. I think it was around the time the last iteration of Saved by the Bell was dying a slow death. People recognized him wherever we were and he was, for the most part, gracious. But it wore on him, since people can be jerks, making jokes at his expense.

But he also blew through whatever he was earning doing the TV show. I never witnessed him doing anything but weed and coke, but it would not surprise me if he did. Sometimes, he was way out of it in a not good way. You know how you know sometimes you feel like there is something wrong with somebody? That was how I felt being around him.

Too bad for Dustin, a true example of a child actor, with all its itinerant problems.

by Anonymousreply 15January 15, 2021 1:19 AM

His dad blew through a big chunk of his earnings r15.

by Anonymousreply 16January 15, 2021 1:26 AM

In 2002 he participated in Celebrity Boxing against Ron Palillo from WELCOME BACK KOTTER. Palillo was 53. Diamond was 25. I’m not sure what Palillo was thinking.

Ron Palillo died from a heart attack 10 years later, leaving behind his partner of 41 years Joseph Gramm.

If he presented with a lump in his throat and shingles, it's highly suspicious for a blood cancer like lymphoma or leukemia.

The fact that he's already in chemo also makes me think it's a blood cancer.

Even at Stage 4, those cancers are considered curable.

by Anonymousreply 18January 15, 2021 1:40 AM

#18, do you mean treatable or curable? Because cancer is rarely 'cured'.

by Anonymousreply 19January 15, 2021 3:22 AM

It depends on the cancer.

Stage 4 blood cancers are considered curable. So is S4 testicular cancer, because it's very sensitive to platinum-based chemotherapy drugs.

Most other Stage 4 cancers—breast, lung, brain, colon, etc.—are considered treatable but not curable, because chemo regimens haven't yet been developed that are curative.

by Anonymousreply 20January 15, 2021 3:27 AM

[quote] I never witnessed him doing anything but weed and coke, but it would not surprise me if he did.

So did he or did he not do weed and coke?

by Anonymousreply 21January 15, 2021 3:39 AM

He is a fan of the Dirty Sanchez. Will that be inscribed on his tombstone?

by Anonymousreply 22January 15, 2021 6:47 AM

Poor guy. I don’t really know his story, but I like big penises, and also my hypochondria has come back with a vengeance in the COVID era, and I’ve been worried about getting cancer and dying. I hope Diamond pulls through, and I hope I can, too, should I receive a similar diagnosis.

by Anonymousreply 23January 15, 2021 7:24 AM

It’s a shame. It really is.

Scarier even since he “found a lump in his throat” (insert emotion joke here) and it was metastatic Stage 4! How does a person not feel anything prior to that? Or think something is wrong? That’s some scary shit.

by Anonymousreply 24January 15, 2021 9:04 AM

It's an act. He's trying to get Lisa Turtle to go on a date.

by Anonymousreply 25January 15, 2021 12:27 PM

He’s scum. I hope he has a slow, painful death.

by Anonymousreply 29January 15, 2021 4:21 PM

He’s always looked fucked.

by Anonymousreply 30January 15, 2021 4:23 PM

R24. My sister was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer (glioblastoma) in August and only mild cognitive symptoms for about two or three weeks before the diagnosis. I know different forms of cancer present in different ways and at different rates, but some really can come on quickly. And yes, it is scary.

by Anonymousreply 31January 15, 2021 4:32 PM

What are some of his porn titles? I wanna rub one out.

by Anonymousreply 32January 15, 2021 4:36 PM

Actually, he's just starting to look good, for the first time ever. Guess you could say, "cancer looks good on him"!

by Anonymousreply 33January 15, 2021 4:37 PM

I condole him.

by Anonymousreply 34January 15, 2021 4:45 PM

UPDATE:

Dustin Diamond has completed his first round of chemo after being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer ... according to his team.

The "Saved by the Bell" star is still in the hospital and is doing everything he can to deal with his diagnosis ... which his team tells TMZ is stage 4 small cell carcinoma.

This is commonly referred to as advanced lung cancer, but in Dustin's case ... we're told the cancer started elsewhere in his body and metastasized in his lungs. His next round of chemo is being scheduled soon.

His team says he will also begin physical therapy, and adds that Dustin is keeping a positive outlook and is looking forward to spending more time with his girlfriend. We're told he's also enjoying playing his bass guitar (learning songs by Tool and Foo Fighters) and video games ... and making videos for his fans on social media.

We broke the story ... Diamond, best known for playing Screech on the hit '90s sitcom, was hospitalized earlier this month in Florida after feeling pain all over his body and a general sense of unease.

From the get-go, there was concern he had cancer due to his family history, and sadly ... that concern became a scary reality.

Dustin's team says he's been receiving a bunch of fan mail wishing him well, and will be getting it to him at the hospital to lift his spirits soon.

I said this was going to happen. With COVID and people not going for annual physicals and delaying getting ailments checked, so many people over the next year or two will be told they have Stage 4 cancers.

by Anonymousreply 39January 21, 2021 10:05 PM

R39 that's my concern with my chronic headaches and balance issues. But my doctor doesn't seem to give a shit.

by Anonymousreply 40January 21, 2021 10:29 PM

Find a new doctor, r40.

I’m serious. I’m looking for one now too. This pandemic is showing my doctor’s true colors and I don’t like what I’m hearing.

by Anonymousreply 41January 21, 2021 10:31 PM

Small cell lung cancer is a tough diagnosis. Best hopes to him.

by Anonymousreply 42January 21, 2021 11:02 PM

It sounds very grim.

by Anonymousreply 43January 21, 2021 11:21 PM

Can I have his stuff?

by Anonymousreply 44January 21, 2021 11:23 PM

A friend of ours was diagnosed with a lung cancer and it metastasized into his bowel. Or vice versa. This was over a year ago. He’s been through a lot of chemo and, incredibly, is doing very well. A year ago, we thought he was a goner, but he’s still here and thriving.

by Anonymousreply 45January 21, 2021 11:31 PM

[quote]That said he was apparently a giant dick, so he should hope his former co-stars are better people than him, and help him out, cause from all accounts he burned every possible bridge.

Lark Voorhies sent out a lovely message to Dustin the other day that lowkey shaded the other members of SBTB, so I think there's probably some truth in Dustin saying that he was treated like an outcast by them. They treated Lark like crap for many years as well, even though she suffers from bipolar disorder.

Dustin exhibits many signs of someone who was bullied for many years and never really learned to cope or confront people properly. Thus the obligatory hatchet job book. And while that book might be full of shit in some parts, I've no doubt there's some truth in other parts as well. I totally believe that the others got huge chips on their shoulders and distanced themselves from Dustin as the show became a massive hit.

by Anonymousreply 46January 21, 2021 11:33 PM

His character was treated like shit on the show.

by Anonymousreply 47January 21, 2021 11:36 PM

Something is wrong here. Small cell cancer of the lung a is a bronchogenic carcinoma, which means it starts in the lung. So he either doesn’t have small cell carcinoma or he has it & it started in his lungs. Small cell carcinoma of the lung is a death sentence, but access to a high level of health care & a lack of heavy drinking history can extend life longer than someone who had bad health care access & has a heavy history of alcohol use.

by Anonymousreply 48January 21, 2021 11:42 PM

He must have had a good doctor (or maybe good insurance) because with the vague symptoms of "pain all over" and "general sense of unease," they would assume you are drug seeking or maybe depressed and send you on your way with a Rx for 10 Vicodin or maybe a starter Rx of Prozac and referral to mental health services.

by Anonymousreply 49January 21, 2021 11:45 PM

This story continues to give me anxiety.

by Anonymousreply 50January 21, 2021 11:53 PM

[quote]Lark Voorhies sent out a lovely message to Dustin the other day

Yes. She offered to have her brother, Jason, end his suffering quickly.

[quote] because with the vague symptoms of "pain all over"

Small cell lung cancer is a metastatic cancer and by the time it’s diagnosed it has already metastasized. It has an affinity for spreading to the bone, the bowels & the brain. It especially likes to affect the femur, which often breaks, requiring the cancer sufferer to have hip surgery before dying. It’s a bitch of a disease,

by Anonymousreply 52January 21, 2021 11:56 PM

What are the risk factors for this particular cancer?

by Anonymousreply 53January 21, 2021 11:57 PM

I sell oncology drugs. Fortunately people with stage 4 disease do go into remission. The therapy is a bitch but it does happen.

by Anonymousreply 54January 22, 2021 12:29 AM

Good grief. Let's be real, there's a lot of us on here with substance abuse issues of his age. Cancer is no joke, show some empathy.

by Anonymousreply 55January 22, 2021 12:32 AM

[quote] Fortunately people with stage 4 disease do go into remission. The therapy is a bitch but it does happen.

With small cell carcinoma of the lung? They don’t go into “remission.” They always have the cancer still in the body, metastasizing. Oncologic drugs can keep it controlled for about 18 months, then the cancer overwhelms the treatment. They usually add radiological therapy to the drugs towards the end and the patient becomes septic. For stage 4 small cell cancer the 5 year survival rate is about 3%

. Meaning 97% are not alive 5 years after diagnosis.

People really don’t understand that there are different kinds of lung cancer.

by Anonymousreply 56January 22, 2021 12:55 AM

Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is the most deadly kind of lung cancer to have,

Then there is non small-cell carcinoma (NSCLC) of the lung and there are about 5 different kinds of NSCLC).

by Anonymousreply 57January 22, 2021 1:04 AM

My mom had Stage 4 NSCLC and kept it under control for 5 years, then she was one of the unlucky 5% for which it transformed into SCLC. The SCLC killed her in less than a month.

by Anonymousreply 58January 22, 2021 1:14 AM

I bet r56 is a barrel of laughs at parties!

by Anonymousreply 59January 22, 2021 1:15 AM

I always sympathized with him. He seemed like a victim of extreme bullying

by Anonymousreply 60January 22, 2021 1:20 AM

[quote] I bet [R56] is a barrel of laughs at parties!

R56 is a nurse practitioner with 25 years of experience whose father & uncle died of SCLC and had to repeatedly inform family members of the difference between SCLC & NSCLC because their friend’s Aunt Tilly & their coworker’s grandpa had lung cancer, so how come they aren’t dying but my family member is?

by Anonymousreply 61January 22, 2021 1:53 AM

Diamond smoked cigars. Not smart.

by Anonymousreply 62January 22, 2021 2:07 AM

It’s primarily caused by cigars then?

by Anonymousreply 63January 22, 2021 2:17 AM

If you believe TMZ’s story and his team’s statement they claim it started somewhere other than his lungs and it appears they looked into the idea of him having cancer based upon his family’s history.

by Anonymousreply 64January 22, 2021 3:21 AM

[quote] because with the vague symptoms of "pain all over" and "general sense of unease,"

They found signs of it: a lump.

by Anonymousreply 65January 22, 2021 11:02 AM

by Anonymousreply 66January 22, 2021 12:09 PM

I’d donate to his GoFundMe account if he’d let me slobber on that big dick. Other than that, no one's concerned about his impending death except maybe his mom.

by Anonymousreply 67January 22, 2021 12:19 PM

I agree with R46.

by Anonymousreply 68January 22, 2021 12:20 PM

Dustin Diamond suffered from the same situation many child actors have to deal with when they're playing the loser of an ensemble group. A lot of times people have trouble separating the character from the actor and it makes their lives miserable.

by Anonymousreply 69January 22, 2021 4:20 PM

Also, Dustin Diamond is a loser.

R67 didn’t he claim that the porn tape was fake and the dick wasn’t his? He was such an asshole on celebrity fit club.

by Anonymousreply 71January 22, 2021 5:58 PM

by Anonymousreply 72January 27, 2021 4:36 PM

by Anonymousreply 75January 27, 2021 4:56 PM

Sorry that anyone has to go through this. I feel bad for him. People really should be more understanding that he had a rough go of it and it probably followed him all his life. I wish him the best. Anyone diagnosed with cancer shouldn't have to see some of the hateful comments on this thread.

by Anonymousreply 76January 27, 2021 6:37 PM
