Tower of London's queen raven missing, feared dead

Fortunately, seven remain. Legend has it that unless at least six ravens stay in the Tower, it and the Kingdom will both fall.

Also, I was not aware that the collective noun for ravens is "unkindness".

Here's a vid of Merlina & the Ravenmaster, Chris Skaife. I love this Instagram page, lots of great raven vids & pics. Chris is easy on the eyes as well.

Fascinating. I thought I was an Anglophile, but I never knew about this:

This is fascinating:

An asylum of loons.

A regatta of swans.

A stable of barn owls.

An invisibility of whip-poor-wills.

A princedom of kinglets.

A drift of snow buntings.

A conclave of cardinals.

A blight of house sparrows.

A scourge of starlings.

I read the ravenmaster's book, it was quite interesting. I had no idea that ravens are basically an endangered species in Britain, because for centuries they were thought of as a danger to farm animals so they were ruthlessly hunted! Now they're so scarce that an avid birder can go decades without seeing one in the wild.

I live in the unfashionable parts of California, and I can see flocks of hundreds of ravens any evening. That's how common they're supposed to be.

Interestingly not a legend. It's something likely dreamt up by the Victorians and only became well known in WW2. Ravens have lived there for centuries but they used to be native to the London region anyway..
