R32, you mean well but the children in a school massacre don't have police and other secret service types to rush in at the first sign of trouble, guide them to an impenetrable location within the school and babysit them (with TV) till the threat is over. There are very few ex-marines hanging around in classrooms to move over and defend the more vulnerable kids (or as in the case of Susan Collins, defend the indefensible).

So no, Senators don't have a clue what kids in that position feel. Were the kids who've been in such situations triggered by what they saw on the news, though? Very probably.
