Arnold Schwarzenegger speaks out

by Anonymousreply 51January 12, 2021 7:02 PM

OP is worse than Maria Avedici Santoya.

by Anonymousreply 1January 10, 2021 9:08 PM

That was a good speech, a little long, but worth listening to.

by Anonymousreply 2January 10, 2021 9:19 PM

I caught the end of it on CNN - it is a very good speech - and not the standard stuff - more personal.

by Anonymousreply 3January 10, 2021 9:25 PM

In hindsight, the Dems should have countered the mis-information with speeches like this. Next time, Congress needs to enact a law that forbids lawmakers to challenge the Electoral College results.

by Anonymousreply 4January 10, 2021 9:29 PM

What “in hindsight”? This speech was nice but isn’t going to do jack-boo. I’ve seen many a Dem give personal and powerful speeches and you know what happens, they get labeled “socialist”, “librul”, “snowflake”, “whiny”, “opportunists”, “Antifa (as a slur)”, etc..

At this point, Trumpists are going to Trump and all of us on the other side need to fight like hell to stop this toxic stew of cultists, supremacists, and fascists. A well-meaning speech isn’t going to do it.

by Anonymousreply 5January 10, 2021 9:41 PM

[quote]Next time, Congress needs to enact a law that forbids lawmakers to challenge the Electoral College results.

Better yet, of course, the electoral college needs to be abolished a.s.a.p.

by Anonymousreply 6January 10, 2021 9:44 PM

I'm just now listening to the Schwarzenegger speech. It's great, but why that ridiculous music in the background?

by Anonymousreply 7January 10, 2021 10:05 PM

I honestly never would not have believed he possessed that degree of eloquence. It was a bit long, but I thought the WWII analogy was an apt one.

I wonder if he hates his tool of son in law, Chris Pratt?

by Anonymousreply 8January 10, 2021 10:12 PM

You can take the bodybuilder out of Hollywood, R7, but you can’t take Hollywood out of the bodybuilder.

by Anonymousreply 9January 10, 2021 10:12 PM

That was totally awesome.

If more Republican officials had spoken out strongly against Trump's criminal past, ties with Russia and evil agenda, they could have avoided this whole mess and maybe held on to power.

by Anonymousreply 10January 10, 2021 10:29 PM

r5 = the "toxic stew of cultists, supremacists, and fascists" r5 claims to be against.

Of course it means more when a Republican official condemns Trump in a speech as rightful and compelling as Schwarzenegger's. There;s no way to "fight like hell to stop the cultists and fascists" WITHOUT speeches exactly like these, from Republicans who know better than the Triggered Trump Trash.

Boris's attempt to defend Trump and his maniac mob are on every political thread and always prefaced with the "I'm a liberal, but" horseshit followed by the denigration of anything progressive being done. It's a dead giveaway and you're not fooling anyone, you PIECE OF SHIT, r5.

Very touching.

by Anonymousreply 12January 10, 2021 10:38 PM

Lifelong democrat here. Loved this. It was very big of him to speak so personally and bravely about his own experiences. Living in the shadow of the Holocaust did not get lost on this guy. Cuz Arnie isn't even remotely subtle in implying a parallel between Hitler and Trump. He's drawing a thick red line directly from Nazism to Trumpism. He's saying "It's the same thing, and it's happening AGAIN, only this time it's here on US soil, and we just cannot allow it to happen. The message is not ambiguous at all; he laid it all out in black and white. And, I believe, he's been the only prominent politician to actually "go there" explicitly.

I also loved the visual and the analogy with the sword.

by Anonymousreply 13January 10, 2021 10:44 PM

Thank you for your service, R11. It's telling that R5 has already deleted her profile, and will soon be bumping more 2015 threads in order to create new sockpuppets.

by Anonymousreply 14January 10, 2021 10:52 PM

Jesus r11, I’m not a fucking Russian troll. R4 led with “in hindsight Dems...” and I was disagreeing with that statement.

There have been a lot of people calling out the terror of Trump for years and what his rhetoric could lead to only to be poo-pooed, marginalized, dismissed, or told to shut up because “centrists”.

And yah, Arnold made a wonderful and touching speech, but at this stage, it is only impactful to those of us against Trump. In my view, Trumpists have been programmed and they are all in. At this point, hearing Arnold speak to his experience with Nazism is like being on the other end of a Peanuts telephone.

by Anonymousreply 15January 10, 2021 10:53 PM

I can't stand him and thought it was great.

It won't convince the Trumptards but more than likely will resonate with a lot of their neighbors and co-workers (it's hard to imagine the terrorists having "friends") and make 'em push back when they hear the bullshit these traitors spout.

by Anonymousreply 16January 10, 2021 11:00 PM

Sure, he's preaching to the choir, but there is that segment of the more normal, grounded, old republicans who will have some kind of something click in their brains from this. Some sort of awakening. Some of them already had it and voted for Biden.

by Anonymousreply 17January 10, 2021 11:04 PM

I really hope so, R16 & r17. I just see the backpedaling already happening and it disturbs me.

by Anonymousreply 18January 10, 2021 11:07 PM

It was nice but the part with the Conan sword was silly. Is that what it takes to convince Americans?

by Anonymousreply 19January 10, 2021 11:09 PM

Do not insult de Conan sword!

by Anonymousreply 20January 10, 2021 11:20 PM

He used the Conan sword when he was Governor too.

Offsite Link
by Anonymousreply 21January 10, 2021 11:22 PM

That sword must be his most prized possession. He had in a glass case in his office when he was Governor.

by Anonymousreply 22January 10, 2021 11:24 PM

[quote] Is that what it takes to convince Americans?

He was using the sword as a metaphor.

by Anonymousreply 23January 10, 2021 11:55 PM

[quote] It was nice but the part with the Conan sword was silly. Is that what it takes to convince Americans?

Yes! He displayed more leadership in that video than during his entire term as California Governor. The sword was an effective 'prop' because it illustrated his point for all the low-IQ nimrods who otherwise could not conceive of the events he described.

I wish we could demonstrate to these Deplorables what would happen to them in Russia, China or the Middle East if they had pulled that sh*t. They'd be rotting corpses in mass graves, what remained of their families would be stigmatized and impoverished, and the rest of the world would never even know it happened. Americans are spoiled, lazy and entitled -- and full of hubris and ingratitude.

by Anonymousreply 24January 10, 2021 11:55 PM

[quote] I also loved the visual and the analogy with the sword.

I did too.

by Anonymousreply 25January 10, 2021 11:57 PM

Kiss de Sword of Crom!

by Anonymousreply 26January 11, 2021 12:08 AM

[quote]R5: you know what happens, they get labeled “socialist”, “librul”, “snowflake”, “whiny”, “opportunists”, “Antifa (as a slur)”, etc..

It's also happening to Arnold, in the comments to the video on Youtube.

r15 = r5 = Trumpstain Trump-shit-eating Boris

F&F he and his sock puppets.

Anyone with two brain cells rubbed together knows this speech will be effective against the Deplorables and this isn't the first time Schwarzenegger has condemned Trump.

Good for Arnold keeping it real and keeping it anti-Trump long before this week, which almost NO Republicans in office ever have.

by Anonymousreply 28January 11, 2021 12:43 AM

Lifelong Democrat here. I just think Joe Biden's dementia is going to get those children in his Ukranian pedophile ring killed when he forgets to feed them, unless we kill all politicians and law enforcement opposed to Trump's reinstatement.

by Anonymousreply 29January 11, 2021 12:48 AM

R24 is totally right. Arnold is talking candidly about growing up in the wake of the fucking Holocaust, being raised by men so traumatized by "what they saw, and what they did" that they were basically staying drunk all the time to pass the days until death's sweet release. He grew up in a petri dish of grief and shame and pain and remorse, the hellscape that came with feeling complicit in allowing Hitler rise into power and commit crimes against humanity.

But yes, sure, Arnold "Terminator" Schwarzenegger is a wimp. A snowflake. He who came here as a desperately poor immigrant from a decimated postwar country, and who then proceeded to work his ass off, going on to become MR. UNIVERSE. Going on from there to become the top-earning Hollywood star of his time. Going on from there to marry a Kennedy, Washington royalty. And from there, going on to oust the democratic governor of California and serve two terms as a moderate Republican governor. AN IMMIGRANT TO THIS COUNTRY.

I am a lifelong democrat and I can't relate to Republican politics at all. But -- anyone that dares to minimize the importance and truth of what Arnold said in this speech, or dares to try to minimize his myriad accomplishments, his guts, or his will, is a flaccid, doughy, spoiled, weak, ignorant snowflake. Sheeple. Human garbage. Excrement.

by Anonymousreply 30January 11, 2021 12:55 AM

Great speech. Ditch the background music though.

by Anonymousreply 31January 11, 2021 1:06 AM

[quote]It was nice but the part with the Conan sword was silly. Is that what it takes to convince Americans?

Have you been asleep for the past 20 years? Have you not noticed we have a reality show host as President? Americans are morons.

by Anonymousreply 32January 11, 2021 1:14 AM

[quote]... is a flaccid, doughy, spoiled, weak, ignorant snowflake.

That describes most of what was at the Capitol. People who were overweight, drunk and undereducated -- some on disability -- that have never known real hardship or adversity other than stepdad beating the sh*t out of them in a drunken rage. Instead of getting help to deal with their trauma they buy guns, mace and confederate flags, and spend all of their time on social media.

by Anonymousreply 33January 11, 2021 1:52 AM

R33 Arnold's dad beat the shit out of him in a drunken rage and he became Mr. Universe and the Terminator. But it sounds like he was well-educated. There is no reconciling these peoples' ignorance. They are truly ignorant, in every single sense of the word. It's not even wholly their fault if they grow up in rural areas with no funding for education. Add in the normalization of underage drinking, hate speech, and the trauma of being step-dad's punching bag. But it comes down to no education, and never experiencing the world beyond your holler.

by Anonymousreply 34January 11, 2021 1:56 AM

The comments to him on his FB page under this are a mix of people agreeing with him and lots of folks saying he's now a traitor.

Fascinating to watch them deny that they were lied to. They still believe Trump is their savior.

by Anonymousreply 35January 11, 2021 4:07 AM

R1 Honey, no one knows who that is. That stopped being funny months ago.

by Anonymousreply 36January 11, 2021 1:58 PM

R36, sorry "Honey." Any venom spewed from your gin pickled body only serves as encouragement for me. Now go back to lip syncing broadway musicals in front of your filthy bathroom mirror.

by Anonymousreply 37January 11, 2021 5:36 PM

R37 Lick me where I shit, you hissing mound of stretch marks and cellulite.

by Anonymousreply 38January 11, 2021 5:37 PM

[quote] Lick me where I shit, you hissing mound of stretch marks and cellulite.

R38, you got no game. Stay silent. You won't get far if you keep using words like "honey" and "hissing." Now go stare out the window and wallow in your regret of a life wasted.

by Anonymousreply 39January 11, 2021 5:58 PM

R39 Fuck yourself with a rusty tetanus covered pipe, you skunky cunt

skunky cunt? Who even says that? You've made quite a spectacle of yourself. And you did it all for Maria Avedici Santoya.

by Anonymousreply 42January 11, 2021 6:44 PM

I see the Kennedys are drunk again.

r15 is always projecting his own crimes on to his adversaries, just like Trump and Vladimir Putin themselves.

If anyone is like "being on the other end of a Peanuts phone," it's DL when r15 invariably vomits into every thread with his right-wig pot shots disguised as liberal concern.

Everyone sees you. Everyone sees through your lies. Everyone watched you humiliate yourself with denials of public polls and predictions of Republican victories in the House of Representatives, White House and Senate.

You're the wrecked shell of a lying assclown and troll who fools NOBODY.

by Anonymousreply 45January 11, 2021 7:42 PM

R45 You type unhinged.

by Anonymousreply 46January 11, 2021 8:17 PM

Since Arnold invoked Kristallnacht in his video message, all sorts of Republicans have begun crying that they're victims, that losing Twitter followers is their own personal Kristallnacht. It's turned into 'Kristallnacht this,' 'Kristallnacht that.'

Disgusting.

I have to say that I think Arnie has really stood up to the plate this pandemic. His uplifting video with his donkeys was cute and sent a powerful message. Stay home.

by Anonymousreply 49January 12, 2021 10:03 AM

r5 / r46, you type desperate, Deplorable piece of shit in the extreme minority of humans trying to dismiss and denigrate this video, which has more relevance and value on this planet than your wormtroll existence.
