New hotel right on the parterre de l'Orangerie at Versailles
Hôtel du Grand Contrôle by Airelles was to open spring 2020 with 14 rooms and a restaurant by Alain Ducasse. The building at the bottom of the stairs, upper left. From $1,439 including breakfast.
This is on the grounds of the chateau in a historic hôtel particulier. Sheesh. I dunno how I feel about this but it will probably be great.

It's a little early to begin advertising the place here, OP, since it doesn't look like opening anytime soon. (On the Airelles website, the article about the Hôtel Contrôle dates from 2019 -- pre-COVID).
And are DLers really your target market anyway? You know they'd just post here and elsewhere complaining about the insufficiently attentive concierges, the low-grade silverware and the flat asses on the porters.

I’ve always wondered how these $1,000+/night hotels get away with it. Seems like only the 1% could afford that - are there that many of them to keep these places full? Or are they always only 1/3 full?

"Stay at the Hôtel du Grand Contrôle, where you can lose your head, and get it too!"

Might be worth the price!

Is it close to the home of Xavier DuPont de Ligonnes' batshit crazy mother and sister?

Does it cost extra NOT to be beheaded?
If you want to opt out of the beheading that will be one billion euros.
