A friend’s 10 year old daughter said she was pansexual. She asked her if she knew what that meant. The kid said “it means you like boys and girls”. OP, I knew I was gay, and admitted to myself I was gay, at 10-and-a-half. I remember it well. Between ten and ten-and-a-half I thought I might be "partly gay", but by ten-and-a-half, I knew there was no 'partly' about it.

I didn't tell anyone else until I turned 18. It was the late 70s to early 80s. I came out just as AIDS Hysteria was hitting its peak. So you know. Not fun.

But yes, kids that young can know, and if they say they are, listen to them and believe them, and don't try and talk them out of it or deny it. If they're telling you, they've already known for a while, and weighed their options before saying anything. Trust me.

R23 my niece is 12 and also just came out as pansexual. I don't know what the difference between pan and bisexual though maybe pan includes non-binary folks? I think its more of a trend than anything. There were a ton of bi girls when I was in high school and college, and they always marry men. And then have the audacity to claim to be in a queer marriage! A sick and boring life indeed!

I definitely knew something was different by 10, but understood when I was 13. I really believe if the internet was available when I was 10, I would have figured it out. So much more information is discreetly and readily available for today's youth.
