For those who don't know, he accepted an award with his face covered in bandages and eye bruising. It's a more extreme version of the look he's been using for appearances/performances for his latest album. For example, on SNL he didn't have his whole head wrapped but had bruised eyes, some blood trickling from his temple, and a bandaid across his nose.

Here's how he looked getting the award

In the video for his hit single Blinding LIghts, he wears that same outfit and is either in a car wreck or gets beat up or both and ends up with a bloody smashed face. So that's how he's been showing up in live appearances.
